GUIminer / pc crash

Hi,

since I'm new and not allowed to post in a technical forum I will try to find some answers in here..

My PC crashed 2 times when is stopped the mining for guiminer...
now, it seems that my grafic card (GTX 460) is broken. Any known issues?

1- Is your computer running properly overall ? Can you play videogames ?
If not, the issue is not with Guiminer but it is possible that you burnt your videocard.

2- Did you monitor your temperatures while mining ?
Mining runs your GPU at 100% all the time. It is easy to burn out a card.

3- Nvidia cards are fantastic for games, but are lousy at mining.


I am sorry, I don't think those are the answers you wanted to hear.


If you are still interested in mining, I strongly suggest finding a used computer with a low end cpu... such as a Pentium4 or old single core AMD Athlon with 1 or 2 PCIE slots on motherboard... you can find these for 100$
Make sure the PSU is at least 450 to 500W depending on the GPU you will put in.

Use an ATI/AMD videocard.

I already ordered a 7870 two days ago
Yes, I monitored my GPU temperatures, everything green (55°C @ 99% usage)

The card is working again (I wrote the post above by using onboard vga).

It seems, that its the mainboard or CPU which was damaged...
I get the first pictures on the monitor after I logged into Windows. (also no UEFI screen with onboard or grafic card so i dont think its a OS/Software issue)
I already checked the RAM, next will be CPU with prime.

Any furhter ideas?

Umh, just to mention, you could get two 7950ies. These are much cooler than the 7870ies.
