Hi

Yesterday I tried to transfer some bitcoin to Bitfinex. After looking for 30 minutes where to send the money, I found the three wallets there.
Then I copy pasted the address from the Bitfinex account into my pc wallet and sent it. But it never came through. Then I noticed that the funding wallet address in my Bitfinex account doesn't match the address in the transaction log which is very strange because the Bitfinex wallet address is the only address I saw (looking a long time for an address to send to, not copypasted from other sites).

1D38xn57NgSpGKxuz1mJwdvdCuq4QgGnHa  - is the address I tried to send to, the funding wallet in Bitfinex,

1MihufoBpGHS1B3FPhVi62rCMwKPzZAuqU   - this is where I happened to send them. I haven't seen that address before. Seems this address got my bitcoin from 1HjCQ6us9xpT5YRzCBqxkBJPAjfn9s8weL which I haven't seen either, my wallet I send from is 1L5mZLJt17bn5Z2V6EERtZ5PrhUajkiUy4.

This is the transaction ID 7b502cbf4f914439d3edaf4f78ac37061a0c5773159dcbab7c680ec190b8a441

Can anyone tell what happened? or are they lost? I've sent a support ticket to Bitfinex but I don't really know how to explain it  Tongue

Thank you

You can check the transaction on Blockexplorer:

https://blockexplorer.com/tx/7b502cbf4f914439d3edaf4f78ac37061a0c5773159dcbab7c680ec190b8a441

Right now it says that is has over 200 confirmations, so the transaction has been completed and should be in your wallet.

I don't know how Bitfinex handles deposits, but it's possible that they shove the funds around multiple internal wallets (similar to what Jaxx.io does), in which case it could just take some longer to show up.

Either way, with those confirmations you should already be seeing your funds, so just write to the support and tell them that you've deposited BTC yesterday and got the following TX ID (the one you posted). Say you've checked https://blockexplorer.com/tx/7b502cbf4f914439d3edaf4f78ac37061a0c5773159dcbab7c680ec190b8a441 and mention that it states over 200 confirmations.
Then ask about why your deposit doesn't show yet despite the high amount of confirmations.
You can also mention the fact that the transcation ID they gave you shows another depositing address than your own and they will tell you what is up with that exactly.

If the proper deposit address is 1D38x...GnHa, but the coins were actually sent to 1Mihu...AuqU, then Bitfinex won't be able to help you unless they control the address 1Mihu...AuqU.

Where the bitcoins are sent from is determined by your wallet, so it might be completely normal for your bitcoin to be sent from 1HjCQ...8weL. Without more information about your wallet and previous transactions, it is not possible to explain why bitcoins came from an unexpected address.

It is possible that you are a victim of a hack that changes bitcoin addresses in the clipboard to the hacker's address. Try copy/pasting that address again to see if it changes again.

But if you look at the transaction funding 1HjCQ...8weL, you will see that the coins came from 1Mihu...AuqU. You apparently sent the coins back to where you got them from! So, if your information is correct, then the hacking scenario is unlikely, and it is more likely that you somehow accidentally sent the coins to the wrong address.

I think your only option is to contact the customer service of your local wallet and state what happened to your transaction, why the wallet address you provided is different from what is in the proof of transaction. Have you checked your wallet address before confirming the transaction as there could be instances that there's a different address saved in your wallet address box and wasn't able to change it even if you copy-pasted the new address.

I just noticed that I send the bitcoin to the same address as I received it from. I'm not learned, but if I send bitcoin to a send wallet then they are lost?

The question is who owns the address you sent the coins to? If the coins came from your localbitcoins account, then you can explain the situation to localbitcoins support and you might get your coins back.
