as some of you may have noticed from watching the charts at:

http://s2.bitcoinity.org/markets/bitcoin24/EUR
http://bitcoincharts.com/markets/btc24EUR_trades.html

there is still trading activity occurring on bitcoin-24.com, despite the site ostensibly being closed for the past ~12hours.

it is actually still entirely possible to access the exchange interface in full and make trades as normal (at least in EUR, haven't tried USD). not sure of API access as i've never used it.

withdrawing funds may also be possible but i'm not certain of that.

hopefully this information is of some use to btc24 users - not entirely sure how but i can't keep it quiet - hence signing up to post this

here's what it looks like atm:

The block chain is the main innovation of Bitcoin. It is the first distributed timestamping system.

I noticed a link on reddit that 'd do the trick, but it was redacted before I got the chance to see the link. Any hints how to actually get to the exchange interface? The reddit link mentioned you have to go to http://(redacted).bitcoin-24.com , the only question being, what was in place of redacted? Anyone have an idea? I tried a couple of variations (beta. , test. admin. and others I've forgotten) but to no avail.

All variations I tried "worked" as in, gave me the same content as the regular main page. But I'd really like to know that one URL that *will* give me access to the actual exchange interface so I can cancel some orders... Anyone?

API access still works!!!
https://bitcoin-24.com/api/user_api.php
http://webcache.googleusercontent.com/search?q=cache:oGX6EIH1-OoJ:https://bitcoin-24.com/user_api+bitcoin-24.com+api&cd=1&hl=de&ct=clnk&gl=de&lr=lang_de%7Clang_en

With "Bitcoin-24 Buddy": https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.meisterLampe.android.bitcoin_24buddy&feature=search_result#?t=W251bGwsMSwyLDEsImRlLm1laXN0ZXJMYW1wZS5hbmRyb2lkLmJpdGNvaW5fMjRidWRkeSJd

But it only works, if you've logged in inside the app BEFORE the site shut down because the app will login on the site and read the api key.
My problem is: the App does not support BTC withdrawal, the api does, but I don't know the api key, the app doesn't show it and my phone is not rootable so I cannot look into the data directories/databases for the api key.  Cry

Can't login with my regular username/pass (as expected, its the Admin panel, and i'm not an admin ... )
So does this mean the people still trading are all admins, or are some people just lucky their regular login works on the admin panel?
I'm kinda confused here.

i believe that's just the admin login. i am able to login through the standard user login that you would normally see (not that link).

i'm wary about sharing how this is done as i don't want to make a confused situation even more confusing. the exchange SHOULD be locked - if trade rollbacks are intended to deal with mistakes made by the engine then why allow the engine to keep running?

i don't know if this is incompetence or deliberate manipulation to allow certain people to trade.

I understand, thanks anyway.

And yeah, interesting question, let's hope it's the 1st option and not the latter (though both 'd be bad).

I guess for now I'll wait and see what happens then. I sure hope it'll be back soon. Sux it went down on a Friday, they probably won't do much on weekends.

i imagine the priority for most people is extracting their funds asap, but with the bank account frozen and the hotwallet empty it's just not possible, so access is of limited use. i can see that some people may want to remove market orders that are 12 hrs+ old though. hopefully there will be an announcement soon as to what's going to happen and when.

I actually have 1k euros worth of order stuck and no news for 24h....im very worried, if there is a way to acces and cancel them I would really appreciate you explain me how to do so, by pm if you think making it public could create problems. But if bitcoin-24 is still accesible even by a trick it should be public.

Btw 24h ago i sent a mail to bitcoin-24, till no answer :/

Trades seem to have stopped an hour and a half ago. Last trade being at Sat, 13 Apr 2013 04:52:52 GMT according to the API - maybe a loophole was closed

I don't see it as a blow to bitcoin (although i see why it may have an effect on the market value). I think it will encourage growth of alternative services that will eventually strengthen the market place. This is a learning event. Things like this let others see the opportunities  that exist to provide better services. Just this morning I have gotten quite interested in Ripple and Buttercoin (only a day old!) and their potential.

I also wonder about the trust issues that are obvious and what place there might be for voluntary regulation / certification. Who wants to set up a regulatory authority in the spirit of http://www.fca.org.uk/ Smiley

I see, thanks for the info. Whereas I would love to know how you access the site I think i'm happier knowing that few people can given the apparent stability in the price right now Shocked

i'd prefer not to say for now. until there's any indication of what the site admin is planning on doing re: the issues with the trading engine it wouldn't be right to undermine his (poor) efforts to stop trading on his exchange. if he's planning to rollback some trades to right what's gone wrong, then adding a lot more to deal with isn't going to help. especially as the glitch hasn't been acknowledged, let alone fixed.
