Bitcoin User Poll Project

I'm developing a series of polls to identify some demographics about the bitcoin community, using the forum participants as a sample group for the larger bitcoin community. Please help me by completing the polls as they are posted. Feel free to share comments or debate the results as well.

The polls will cover the following topics - age, location, monthly income, bitcoin balance, etc.

These polls taken together can provide us a good picture of what the community looks like. I'll be happy to post all aggregated results here so everyone can benefit from the data.

Please spread the word to other users so we can great a response as possible!

Thanks!

I have a mighty sum of...0.0148465BTC. Cry Cry Cry
I quit Faucets because they are not worth it, I am still too young for exchanges (under 18), most of the above is from a signature campaign.
I will probably put up an offer in Services to earn a more substantial amount, selling your skills pays much better than menial tasks.

If you don't have sole and complete control over the private keys, you don't have any bitcoin!  Signature campaigns are OK, zero tolorance for spam!

Lol I assume most people on this for are holding less than half of a bitcoin. If you have 100s of bitcoins you must REALLY shit your pants with a 30% drop hahaha. I applauded anyone who can afford to stomach that!!

Indeed.  And I have a feeling that the whales that have 100s of btc don't frequent this forum because they don't need to do sig campaigns and don't scam and all that other hoopla.

My stash is not big at all, and you can always pretty much check it at the address I have listed in my profile.  I do have more than one wallet, but the majority of my bitcoin is in the 1As... wallet.  Right now it's about $200 worth.  Chicken feed!!

We'll we have one respondent claiming s/he has over BTC500, that's quite a stash! And I think there's plenty of reason for early adopters to be cruising this forum...perhaps more in projects than other boards, but still.

NO.  I'm talking about the people who do those things, and they seem to be in the majority.  I was posting here for the fun of it well before I ever joined a signature campaign, and I don't scam people.  The community is interesting, to say the least, and that's the main reason why I keep coming back.

I agree with you to stomach 30% loss is a tough thing to do but it all depends on your entry point, most BTC bagholders get into it when the price was very low and I don't think the recent drop in price will affect them. TO buy 100BTC now you need to part with $80,000.

Exchanges are not the only way to buy bitcoins, so you don't have to be over 18 to buy them.
I was 14 or 15 when I bought my first bitcoins Wink

Bitcoin User Poll Project

I'm developing a series of polls to identify some demographics about the bitcoin community, using the forum participants as a sample group for the larger bitcoin community. Please help me by completing the polls as they are posted. Feel free to share comments or debate the results as well.

The polls will cover the following topics - age, location, monthly income, bitcoin balance, etc.

These polls taken together can provide us a good picture of what the community looks like. I'll be happy to post all aggregated results here so everyone can benefit from the data.

Please spread the word to other users so we can great a response as possible!

Thanks!

-------------------------------

Using North American standard for number notation/formatting (decimal instead of comma), apologies for any confusion!

This is useless!
People could tell you pure bs and you would publish just nonsense.
Why is it important how much BTC somebody owns or how old they are and what the financial and located background is?
We have whales with tens and hundreds of thousands of coins and people with less than 0.1 BTC.
To get honest and accurate results there are better ways to create demographics about the BTC users. And I'm sure there already exists some material. You just have to search for it.This then could be used as a basis for some more deeper analysis.

That's true, such a effort doesn't gonna give you a accurate information, because users just vote based on simple calculations. To get accurate data every wallet need to be noted and the amount held within the wallet gives better data to the polls.

Thanks for your feedback, care to offer any useful links or sites that may have this information?

The most comprehensive information that I've found is from Blockchain.info, which has great detail on balance per wallet but we all know most people have multiple wallets. E.g. I have close to 10. The only way to get real insight into by-person demographics is to actually ask people.

Last, I recognize some people may but bullshitting the poll but there's little incentive to do so. It's all anonymous. The 1 or 2 bullshitters will get teased out from the real data provided by the honest folks on this forum. Most of the people hare are quite honest!

Yes, my position in (and re) Bitcoin is essentially like The Pharmacist's.  I am here to get knowledge of Bitcoin and gradually build an "investment position" (that is, holding more than a tiny amount of BTC when I am convinced that BTC really DOES look good).

My opinion is that the Bitcoin Ecosystem looks pretty strong and worth the risks of holding a decent amount.  RISKY, but worth the risks.

Re the Signature Campaign, if BTC does achieve a very high price, I will be that much happier that I accumulated even small amounts (along with the larger amounts I have bought).

For those of you who have over BTC100, BTC500, or BTC1000...how did you acquire such wealth? Did you do it via early mining? And how significantly has your accumulation rate tapered off. Are you still accumulating coins or mostly sitting on your wealth?

There are more members than you know on here who actually have relatively high amounts of BTC but they obviously choose not to publicise it.
Many members bought in when BTC was still young so although a 30% drop is significant, it is next to nothing in conparission to the growth their original investment had.
So yes it's significant but those holding that much BTC obviously believe in it long term and are perfectly happy to ride the wave.

I dont have 1 bitcoin in my wallet. I have a savings but not that big. The reason is constant conversion to cash due to financial needs. Though I really wanted to save 1 bitcoins but with my financial condition as a bread winner and my wife has no work then the last resort is to cashout my bitcoin earnings. I am hoping that someday my earnings will increase so I can place a big amount on my savings wallet.

Don't get discouraged, friend. See if you can increase your earnings or find something in your daily or weekly spending that you can go with out, so you can devote that bit of money to savings. The strongest factor in saving money is in your own behavior...you just have to set aside a portion of earnings and not touch it. Skip a meal if you have to, it's worth it. Savings will set you free.
