Any options?

For a bit Bunq looked good but apparently you need to be a EU tax resident and they'll want proof of this, which I am not, to apply. N26 looked good and can open with a mailing address but apparently not crypto friendly anymore/wont work with kraken. Monese now apparently closes accounts. MisterTango still ok?

Ideally, would prefer licensed banks and then followed by the most reputable EMI's around that work with Kraken.

I can get an EU mailing address (no EU proof and no EU tax residency).

I will not be doing localbitcoins or tons of small trades. It will be a few here and there and no single transaction over 10k.
Mistertango is still crypto friendly bank, you can try them. It's licensed electronical money institution, their license was issued by Central Bank of Lithuania.
EU based customers can get free MasterCard from this bank. But there are few disadvantages - if you want to enable crypto deposits/withdrawals you need to use paid membership which costs €4 or €5, can't remember exactly. And also there is 0.0025 BTC deposit/withdraw fee. If you have more questions feel free to ask.

Technically they aren't a bank right? More an EMI and no money protection.

I don't really care about a 'small' fee. So the mastercard is free for EU based customers and charged for others or is not available to others (if its not available would a mailing address solve that?) ?

Have you tried BUNQ yourself? Do they really ask for EU tax residency proof (be it EU tax id or some kind of EU ID proof or something)?
Once a transaction has 6 confirmations, it is extremely unlikely that an attacker without at least 50% of the network's computation power would be able to reverse it.

It's EMI. I'm not sure about money protection.
Currently their card available only for EU customers. I don't think that mailing address can solve that because you have to pass KYC on Mistertango.
No, I haven't tried BUNQ.
Maybe you also can take a look at N26 or Revolut?

If you intend to make transfers to cryptocurrency exchanges, you need to use the Personal+ membership, which costs
4.99 € per month. Regarding the BTC transaction fee I can´t believe that MisterTango haven´t lowered it
to a more reasonable level. I understand that they had to implement this fee when the transaction fees
skyrocketed at the end of 2017, but they should have lowered it as soon as high transaction fees stopped
to be a problem.

...So the mastercard is free for EU based customers and charged for others ...

While the card has no yearly fee, there are various other fees that you should be aware of.
E.g. they charge a 2.49 % fee for ATM withdrawals (e.g. if you withdraw 1000 € you pay
24.90 € in fees!). If you make ATM withdrawals on a regular basis, you will pay a ton in
these withdrawal fees and a yearly service fee could have been much cheaper.

(ATM withdrawals are actually free if you withdraw less than 200 € a month, but
obviously this limit should be too low for most people)

Heard good things about Bunq. They were NL only and more recently all of EU. Wonder when others can join too....

N26 sounds good and something I was going to sign up for but they do not appear to be cryptofriendly recently and closing accounts? Weird for a german bank.

Do you have any better suggestions that would work in this context then?

Bunq likes to suspend your account if it feels you're not using your account as it should be. "As it should be" is an unknown definition for its users. See the experience of a user in this discussion, some posts above. As for N26, look like it has a double standard and suspends accounts randomly too. All of the EMIs will ask you your ID card or something else to comply with KYC

They had these huge fees long time before that and it's not related to transaction fees. As they explained these fees is their main source of income and it allws them to offer trading with 0% fees. In past they had 0.005 BTC desposit/withdrawal fees, but they lowered it to 0.0025 BTC when BTC price started to rise last year.

I don't know exact reasons why it's available for EU , probably it's related to regulations. On Mistertango you're only asked to upload photo of your ID card/passport and selfie with your document.
About N26, I haven't heard that they are closing accounts of people who are involved in crypto activities, so I can't tell abything about it.

A common pattern appears to be we are at their whim and whatever constitutes 'acceptable' to them.... N26 looked really good for a while there but this account suspension/closure is bad.

They all ask for ID card or Passport. Unless they ask for EU ID card (not accept passport) OR they ask for EU TAX ID OR they ask for address proof then I don't see how they can verify EU or not.

So if you only upload Passport and provide EU address wouldn't that get you mastercard?

If you read a few pages back even in this thread you will read about N26 suspending accounts for kraken?

Yeah, now I see posts about N26 suspending users accounts.

I am trialing Mistertango now. Account opening was very easy and fast. You simply download app, type in email and password, confirm your email account via the email they send you, confirm your phone number via text message sent to it with a code, upload ID/Passport (which options are available depend on the country you selected) and thats it about 5 minutes later done.

It appears they judge whether you are EU resident or not simply based on your passport or ID that you used in the signup process. So if you use a EU passport or ID then presumably that makes the mastercard available to you otherwise you will not get this option.

Yeah otherwise N26 appeared like a good option. Except they are now closing accounts for crypto transactions? Not sure if its with Kraken only or everyone inc bitstamp, cex, localbitcoins...

Moneypolo bought them and merged. They are now 'under maintenance' for the PSD2 certification. For who knows how long.

You have no use of Kraken if at the end you are going to use MisterTango. Better to use Mistertango only, you will be unnecessary use a middleman for the same result. You should read the whole conversation to get your own opinion too

I just tried Bunq but they don't have many options for ID's like Bulgaria as the guy from the support spell it "Bulgary". In this chat with the support they asked me to go through the steps again with a passport. While I was chatting with bunq I found a local provider iCard, get verified and sent a test withdrawal from kraken to my personal iCard IBAN. It works with EU residents for sure. In kraken status is still sending I guess tomorrow ill have it. I used revolut and monese until they shut the doors for kraken Smiley
