I don't know if this thread is the correct one for you to take that doubt, anyway, speaking by ICN, you need to have ethereum wallet, you can leave in exchanges, but do not recommend! There are wallet for dash and steem...

I store all of my coin in the wallet,

Yes is there, every coin has a local wallet. and not for the official wallet.  Cheesy But i think this isn't a correct place for you, you should be gone to the beginner section. because this question is poorly. there are a lot of the similar question.

in their own wallets, right on the pc.  unless we are using them to buy and sell and then we store them on the exchange, sometimes the profit can get chunked away by constant moves here and there

Yes each of them will have their own wallet where we have to download it in your desktop, where you can store them in your wallet, even you can store them in exchanges but every time exchanges are not preferable, when you want to sell them at higher price you can transfer them from your wallet to exchange and you have to sell it there.

Each coin has its own wallet.
And many also have paper wallets.

I have some in wallets and, for long term storage, I use paper wallets. Just to make sure: it's not Bitcoin paper wallets I am talking about.

Every altcoin has their own wallet or online wallet,I prefer downloading desktop wallet so I can have full ownership of my wallet,I seldom use an online wallet for my altcoins I always download my private keys in case the online wallet of course you can also use your exchange wallet in case, you want to trade your coin anytime that the price is ok to trade.

AFaik. Iconomi doesnt have wallet. You must sign up on their website and you can store there your tokens. Some altcoins doesn't develop wallet applications. You have to store it on their website like Xaurum and other altcoins. This will act as your wallet.

they obviously each have their own wallets, but their wallets are always going to be Full Nodes wallets which means you have to keep a copy of their blockchain if you want to use them as wallet and that takes an unnecessary wasted space on my HDD so i never do that.

instead i keep them on the exchange service that i use and i realize the risks involved but there is no other solution.

however there are some SPV wallets such as LTC-Electrum that i am using to keep my litecoins and it is light wallet so it doesn't keep much space.

Weak hands have been complaining about missing out ever since bitcoin was $1 and never buy the dip.
Whales are those who keep buying the dip.

I store my funds in their respective wallets, but i always keep a usb stick with a copy of each wallet.dat, just in case.
I would like to use a hardware wallet but i still don't trust them enough, i fear to loose my coins, or i don't know what, but basically, as long as wallet.dat is somewhere stored, you will be able te retrieve your funds.

because the majority of the altcoin wallets would not support paper wallet importing, i have no idea of which kind of non-core wallet could help you. maybe for an example, if you use the dogecoin, multidoge is the best choice to store your dogecoins without synchronizing any huge file, and you can do most of the features in the dogecoin Qt.
i store them in my bitcoin wallet, i mean i dump them for bitcoin and they are more safe there instead of holding many of them and risking to lose everything
u wot mat? storing your altcoin in your bitcoin wallet? how incompatible!

out of ability to use the signature, i want a new ban strike policy that will fade the strike after 90~120 days of the ban and not to be traced back, like google | email me for anything urgent, message will possibly not be instantly responded
i am not really active for some reason

I use Desktop wallets for altcoins to send them exchanges for trade. Yes, there are many trusted exchanges to hold some coins, but more safe is to use PC wallet, I'm not using altcoins which only have web wallets

Electrum wallets are made in a way that lets you use a cryptocurrency without having to synchronise the whole blockchain, but not all altcoins supports them, actually just a few of them can.
If you want for example to use bitcoin without having to sync anything, you can :
- Use electrum wallet
- Use an API wallet
- Use a local webwallet
- Use a node in browser
For the others, i think that you have no choise.

keep in mind that you can store just the wallet.dat of most coins and still retrieve those coins.  But, you may have to store or keep your private keys also or in some cases, your 12 word phrase.  I have seen many people keep a backup of the wallet.dat for a software wallet and have their 12 word security phrase not backed up.  If that computer dies or in any way you lose a private key or password or 12 word phrase for a software, it is likely you will never recover those coins.

I personally take a screenshot when a 12 word deal is used and store the images separately.  Prying eyes are less likely to poke around a picture than a text document when trying to find important info.  Also, one last thing.  If you store the wallet.dat and security info only, then in order to send those coins from a fresh copy of the wallet software, you will have to wait for the blockchain to download again.  In other words, if I am storing an actual Bitcoin software wallet.dat file and the private key and I suddenly want to quickly get those coins on a PC that does not have a software wallet, I will likely have to download the wallet, let it sync for two days and then import my info before touching my coins.  Trying to sell an altcoin that has a high price in that manner will most likely take so long the price will have dropped back down again.  Even storing a copy of the block chain will not speed it up much, as the new wallet takes nearly as long to import and process the chain as to download it fresh.

For what I do now by storing my altcoins, I just put it in the exchange where I invested it, at the present I used 5 exchange platform and each trading platform I have invested different coins over there. And doing trade to grow it by simply buy at low then sell at high, just simple.

Altcoins are mostly being stored in different exchangers here like, C-CEX, YOBIT, and so on. This exchangers convert your altcoins into bitcoin only if you wanted to convert but, take note, only convert your altcoins in bitcoin if it's price is pumping and not dumping, for you to have a big profit. Observing it's dumping and pumping would help you not to be loss your profit.

This exactly the way I also act. I dont trust any exchanges as all of them can be hacked!
