I love Coinmap, but I'm a little annoyed lately by more and more LTC places showing up. There's nothing wrong with that, but since I have a bookmark I have to uncheck LTC every time. Is there a way to create a bookmark that includes the "disable ltc" information or just change the site, so that the selection is saved (cookie)?

That's funny you mention it. I published a change that deselects LTC by default a couple of hours ago. Press F5 to reload the scripts. :-)

I also prefer this. Thank you. And the new map looks much better. Great work!  Cheesy

As more and more locations are added (YAY) it's getting harder to find the certain types of places in areas with several shops accepting BTC. It would be neat if there was a way to filter for categories (i.e. food/beverage). For me specifically, I will be traveling on the road in 2014 and want to plan my routes to make as many stops to spend Bitcoin as possible!

Coinmap has the BTC symbol for retailers which accept bitcoins.

How about using A for ATMs (Lamassu, Robocoin)?  Seems like the number of them will explode in 2014.

OpenStreetMap has tag amenity=atm for ATMs. So it should be enough just to mark ATM with this tag in addition to tag payment:bitcoin=yes ...

Sounds good, but looking at the Waves Coffee house their robocoin is just "node 2516023474" - which is pretty meaningless to most people.

They should add a name tag. Or you can do it. It's a wiki afterall, right?

I'd like to add a transport company to the map, but afaik there aren't standard tags for this type of company in osm. Am I wrong? How can I add this transport company to coinmap.org?
Thanks

If it is a public transport route (or something like that), take a look at http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Proposed_features/Public_Transport.  I suppose you should add the payment:bitcoin=yes tag to the route relation.  While I'm not sure whether coinmap.org handles this, it is probably the most correct way to tag a bitcoin-accepting public transport bus/tram/train/whatever line in the OSM data model.

Otherwise, maybe an office= tag may be appropriate?  Or tag the ticket vending machines (amenity=vending_machine, vending=public_transport_tickets, payment:bitcoin=yes) if this applies.

Not an urgent/100% necessary suggestion, but maybe your density colour scheme needs a new colour for 1000+? I can get an 1000+ over Europe (...when zooming out to the maximum).

See also my post https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=375671.msg4023341#msg4023341

(German, but it basically says that the numbers of BTC/LTC places are the only true indicators of BTC/LTC value)

I'm watching the site from time to time and it pleases me to see the numbers rising, but what I'm missing very very much is some filter, where you could enter a date and only see the new places since that date. Maybe even "since your last visit".

I think that would be a very nice addition and it could actually provide the business owners immediate positive feedback, because it would draw attention to them after they've added their business to that site.

Any way to automatically get the data from https://lamassu.is/maps/ and put it into coinmap? It would be handy to see where all the Bitcoin ATMs are!

Not sure about the data export, but if you want to put those in OSM (not just as new data source for CoinMap specifically), which I find an interesting idea, you should talk to the OSM community first.  Both to establish a tagging scheme for non-fiat ATMs and also because automated imports always require discussion and planning.

Also map on lamassu website is crap. Positions are not accurate, one cannot zoom it, etc.
