MTGOX got to where it is today because the community trust them with the money.

It's long over due in the market for more trustworthy exchanges.

It is not MTGOX fault that their competitors failed to build up the necessary reputation for the international community to trust them, and hence, trade through them.

You can have the best trade engine, and best UI, and even the best decentralized orderbook in the world.  But if you can't convince people that you won't pull off another Zhou-Tonged, no one will move large bitcoin/fiat money to your exchange for the transaction.

Even if you use Bitcoin through Tor, the way transactions are handled by the network makes anonymity difficult to achieve. Do not expect your transactions to be anonymous unless you really know what you're doing.

Funny thing how no one seemed to mind when BTC was running like god.

I never thought my life could be. Anything but catastrophe. But suddenly I begin to see. A "BIT" of good luck for me. Cause I've got a golden ticket!

They're not manipulative, they just give manipulative people cheap access in behind their trading site.

Since they are still doing most of the volume, it must mean the market decided that was fine.

Ok that was sarcasm, seriously stop being a sheep and use another bloody exchange rather than calling for the government to shut down MtGox. I use cavirtex and haven't had any issues whatsoever with them. Their commissions are a little high, but their engine seems good. Whether it or any other exchange will survive high volume trade load (DDOS) remains to be seen, but we wont find out until people put their bitcoins where their mouth is and go away from Gox.

I agree, there are tons of other exchanges, no one is forcing you to use mtgox. You don't like it? Nice, use another one.
