Hi everybody! I've spent days trying to make mining software working but I wasn't able to do it, so I'm asking for your help! (I'm not a programmer).

I have an HP notebook with an ATi HD 4530 running Vista, and before upgrading the drivers (I had the original ones from 2009) both guiminer and cgminer loaded but didn't work showing an error for "missing openCL .....".(I can't exactly remember it now)

I upgraded drivers to catalyst 13.1 ( driver version 8.970.100.7000) and installed the AMD APP SDK 2.8, as I red on this forum, but now both programs can't even load and immediatly crash without any error message...and I don't know in which log file I can look for the error description! I've also red to use GPU caps viewer to see if my GPU can now handle open CL...but it crashes immediatly too!

Any suggestion?  Huh  Huh

Transactions must be included in a block to be properly completed. When you send a transaction, it is broadcast to miners. Miners can then optionally include it in their next blocks. Miners will be more inclined to include your transaction if it has a higher transaction fee.

You are going to Kill youor laptop, Also, I do not think that the AMD 4530 has OpenCL

It hasn't, in fact, but I've read the latest AMD APP SDK would have make it run!

The mining process heats up your graphics card a lot, laptops can't cool the gfx card enough to mine profitably, you will just end up cooking your laptop.

I guess you're right....nevertheless, I could use my cpu, if I would be able to make the mining software work! Anybody has any suggestion?

If you have read through the forum, you would know that; even with multiple dedicated GPU's running, your window to make practically nothing is highly limited. 2 months at best. The ASIC's will make GPU mining obsolete. You are trying to enter the Indie 500 with a used Kia.

Get the bitcoin client running and sync up to date

Then download the drivers from http://support.amd.com/us/psearch/Pages/psearch.aspx?type=2.4.2&product=2.4.2.3.31&contentType=GPU+Download+Detail&ostype=Select+an+Operating+System+%28OS%29+type&keywords=&items=20

Now go to https://bitcointalk.org/?topic=1334.0 and download poclbm
Extract it in C:\Program Files (x86)\Bitcoin\mypoclminerfolder

Then paste the following in a notepadfile an rename it as miner.bat
start /D"C:\Program Files (x86)\Bitcoin\mypoclminerfolder" poclbm.exe youruser:yourpw@localhost:8332 --device=0

replace the youruser, yourpw and host appropriately.
For example if you are mining in Slush's pool :
start /D"C:\Program Files (x86)\Bitcoin\poclminer" poclbm.exe http://username.worker1:worker_password@api2.bitcoin.cz:8332 --device=0

You would get around 7 Mh/s

If you run some, remember to donate  Grin

As many here already stated, trying to mine with a laptop is recipe for failure.

With current diff, and the fact it is very hard to keep your laptop cool. You likely will never crack a block unless you get extremely lucky.

Even if you join a pool, unlikely you will make much at all. Solo your farting in the wind.

Do not want to be debbie downer, just trying to be real.
