Announcing Gubiq 2.2 and the Gubiq roadmap ahead

A month after the release of Gubiq 2.1, the Ubiq developers are proud to present to you Gubiq 2.2!

Gubiq 2.2 is based on the last release of the upstream Geth 1.7.x branch and contains around 1467 commits merged from upstream Go-Etheruem.

This is an optional release but highly recommended.

UIP 5 - Escher to become an Escher Hub on the Cosmos Network with ESCH as the native staking token

Proposal

Proposal for Escher (ESCH) to transition from an UBQ token to the base unit and native staking token of an Escher Hub on the Cosmos Network. This will retain Escher governance functionality as well as provide Ubiq with the benefits of running a Hub on the Cosmos Network, enabling technologies such as Inter-Blockchain Communications (IBC).

From the outset, Escher was built as the governance token of the Ubiq network which fuels and directs proposals (development and otherwise). It was always envisioned that Escher would also provide additional utility to the Ubiq ecosystem.

Ubiq Monthly Report — April 2019

This month has brought some relief to the markets, with Bitcoin and other Altcoins moving away from recent lows. development team officially published the planned roadmap and released Gubiq version 2.2.

Ubiq also won a vote for the next set of coins to be listed on Beaxy exchange.

The report also contains several governance updates, from logo competitions to the first outline of UIP 5 (Escher Hub on the Cosmos Network).

I claimed mine and contract says its ok but couldn't find the transaction on my wallet.
My escher number didn't change...
previous turns were fine

got the question answered on discord, didn't notice that ESCH transfer was only after the claiming period, thought it was direct.

Gubiq 2.3 Beta ready for testing

The next release of Gubiq is in Beta testing mode and those technically inclined are encouraged to test it out. @xocel and I have performed quite a bit of development and testing and have not found any issues.

Release 2.3 is based off of the latest upstream Geth 1.8 codebase and contains 1393 commits since Release 2.2.

This release contains state pruning which means by default, disk usage will grow at 25% the rate of previous releases. Typical chain data disk space usage is now around 2.1 GB vs 13 GB. If you are running an archive node where you would like to retain all historical data, disable pruning via --gcmode=archive

Please Build the release, test and report any issues. You will need to check out the release/2.3 branch: https://github.com/ubiq/go-ubiq/tree/release/2.3

Extra verification tip on Discord

Something I've recently discovered is that you can link some social profiles like Reddit and Twitter to Discord. This gives you another way to check if you are talking to the right person. Consider linking some of your social profiles up with your Discord account.

Gubiq 2.3 update

Some on fleek community members have upgraded and no issues have been reported.

A blog post is being drafted up as well as release notes. Expect this to be published and announced Next week or so.

This will be the last release before we plan to make a hard fork release.

Moderators and Discord user spoofing

There were a couple of cases of impersonation today from scammers. So a Discord user has: Username, Tag, User ID. Normally your name shows up as Username+Tag. For example I am "john#6248". Under normal, sane circumstances, the Tag would be a fairly safe check as you would need to generate a lot of accounts to spoof someone's 1 in 10k tag. Discord Nitro has this "feature" where you can pick your own Tag: https://support.discordapp.com/hc/en-us/articles/360000270351-Custom-Discord-Tags-with-Nitro

This "feature" makes it harder to determine if someone is real or not.

As an extra security measure, posted in #welcome are the Discord ID's of the Ubiq Discord Moderators. Moderators will never ask you for money so this is an extra check to ensure you are talking to the right person.
