Whats a good metric to figure out a "long term GPU" post ASIC

Is looking at the Mhash/J a good metric to figure out what cards are efficient enough to mine without losing money on electricity?

I am guessing for Litecoin Kmash/J is important but just not as much as the high diff with BC.
