I'm making this on behalf of the Exodus wallet team , I'm not related to them on anyway but I definitely got their permission to make this thread.

Download : https://www.exodus.io/releases/

Features :
  • Exodus encrypts private keys and transaction data locally for your eyes only - no accounts, no servers, no data sharing.
  • Track the value of your blockchain asset portfolio, in real time, as market conditions change.
  • Like darker themes? How about a subtle space background? Exodus prebuilt themes start with traditional gray or go wild with Dogecoin inspired fun.
  • ShapeShift built in (exchange between multiple currencies)
  • Recover your wallet using a 12 words passphrase
  • Supported currencies : Bitcoin, Ethereum, Dash, Litecoin, Dogecoin.

Team :

Exodus has been in development for over a year from two guys with a passion for blockchain assets.

Daniel Castagnoli (Chief Creative Officer) : From subtle sounds to smooth animations Daniel creates a trusted, warm feeling when using Exodus. He is a master of emotional design and has designed experiences for Apple, BMW, Disney, Louis Vuitton and Nike.

JP Richardson (Chief Technical Officer) :  Coding the technical magic behind the scenes, JP has published 181 open source libraries and has written code in use by most Bitcoin and cryptocurrency software on the web.

=> Bitcointalk Profile : https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=19578
=> Github Profile : https://github.com/jprichardson
=> npmjs : https://www.npmjs.com/~jprichardson

Richardson clearly have huge presence within the Open-Source community but Exodus is not open source for the moment and It has been already explained by him : https://www.reddit.com/r/CryptoCurrency/comments/5q7wna/jaxx_and_exodus_wallets_are_closed_source_why/

What to expect ? :

I guess there is a lot to expect from this wallet , such as Tokens support , Ledger hardware wallet support and much much more. If you have some suggestions (for them to add in the wallet)then I suggest emailing them because emails are taken seriously.

Slack : https://exodus-invite.herokuapp.com

Why not they take time to introduce themselves with an ANN topic, I guess it must be more important for them to develop reputation among cruptocurrency users.

It seems bit.ac just gets a competitor, still bit.ac will be having positive edge as they had successful signature campaign here to make them familiar among cruptocurrency users.

Edit:
This topic belongs to web wallets ?

I don't know , I asked them If they are willing to make one or I could make one ? they said that I could go and make one myself , I guess they don't have time to manage it.
Bit.ac is far from being a competitor with Exodus.io If you ask me , because Exodus gives you control over your private keys while Bit.ac don't and without mentioning that Its an online wallet. This doesn't belong to web wallets because the wallet is a desktop wallet.

A new update came out a few hours ago and here is the changelog :

General

-  NEW: You can now show/hide assets in the settings section. Don't ever use Dogecoin? Not a fan of Litecoin? You can now turn off assets you don't want to see and they disappear in the wallet, portfolio and exchange sections. Fans of minimalism rejoice!

Wallet

-  IMPROVED: More robust dynamic bitcoin fee calculations to make sure your Bitcoin transactions are confirmed fast. Recently we have seen the some of the highest levels of Bitcoin network backlogs - we always try to stay one-step ahead to ensure Exodus transactions don't get stuck.

More info :

Quote
Exodus returned from the Satoshi Roundtable III (read more blogs and reviews) with fresh relationships, new ideas and continued support to ensure 2017 will be our biggest year yet! This release lays the foundation for our first new asset in 2017; Factom.

FACTOM IS NOT IN THIS RELEASE - Beginning next Friday, Feb. 10, 2017 @ 10PM PT (-0800) Exodus will seed 50 early adopters a time-locked, limited version of Exodus with Factom included. This beta program is first for Exodus - we are thrilled to offer early access to ensure new features are solid and ready for the masses. In the meantime we are now delivering Exodus to Factom Inc. and will begin internal testing with the core development team.

1.19.0 version is out and here are the major changes :

Wallet

-BUGFIX: If you received a transaction, then immediately sent this unconfirmed transaction out of Exodus there was a chance (on the next block confirmation) this transaction would be marked as invalid and returned to your wallet balance on your next refresh. This is fixed, no matter when you send, Exodus ensures transactions are correctly forwarded to the network.
-IMPROVED: Dash sending and receiving is working after the recent Dash hard fork.
-IMPROVED: A few small annoyances with the BTC multiple receive addresses have been fixed.
- NEW: You can now import Ethereum private keys.

Exchange

-IMPROVED: Exchange limits have been raised 2 - 3X and in some liquid markets (BTC & ETH) we raised the max 5X. This results in one-click exchange amounts of ~$5,000 USD per exchange!
-BUGFIX: Exchange "Min" was working with some but not all assets. We now have 100% coverage.
-IMPROVED: Exchanges are now properly marked complete only when the exchanged asset is deposited. Previously exchanges were signaled complete when our exchange partner ShapeShift said so - however the asset would sometimes not be deposited for up to a minute later. We now properly wait until the asset is deposited in your wallet THEN signal the exchange as complete.
-IMPROVED: If you quit Exodus while an exchange was in progress, or an exchange failed, this exchange transaction was never logged to your wallet transaction list as an outgoing transaction until your next app launch/refresh/rescan. Exodus now properly log outgoing exchanges into the corresponding wallet immediately.
-IMPROVED: All outgoing exchanges are labeled as "Exchanging for…" in the wallet transaction list until the exchange is complete. They are then updated to "Exchanged for…" to properly account for the outgoing transaction in the event an exchange does not complete. Previously exchanges were not logged until the exchange was complete - this caused confusion tracking down funds when an error happened.

No, they take no fees while receiving or sending bitcoins (expect the bitcoin network fees of course) the only fees they take for themselves (or It goes directly to ShipeShift is while exchanging between cryptocurrencies).

I'm an Exodus user myself, and like most newbies started out using the addresses for faucets. I do like the wallet, but I do also dislike when wallets say "no fees" when they seem to charge a network fee. I of course, only found out when I wanted to transfer out my dust in ETH and found that the fee alone took up most of the amount. There are others that say no fee and mean it (the amount you transfer is the amount received).

Again, not a naysayer as I like the wallet a lot. Beautiful and useful.

It is independent and you should be able to export your private keys for the different currencies you have as shown here:

I don't use the MAC version but I asked the developers and they said the following "Just use the Exodus menu next to the Apple in the Mac menu bar." so you should be able to export your private keys even In the MAC version.

I've been using this for a while and downloaded version 1.21.0 a few days back but 4 hours ago a currency exchange between Dash and Bitcoin was processed through the wallet and shapeshift, the shapeshift side of it went through fine but I have yet to receive my funds. Their slack is offline, and I have had no response to an email I sent 3 hours ago. Not good, not good at all.

The slack is up and running, If the issue didn't get reported by multiple people until now then I guess there is nothing to be worried about. I will let them know about your situation on slack. (note that I'm not involved in this project)

I still can't get into slack but I have just received an email from them, saying that it is a problem with shapeshift. If this is a result of you letting them know about it on slack, then thank you very much. I was most shocked that I had not heard back from them as when I have had to contact support before they have always been superb. Thanks again for your help.

Hi,

Co-founder of Exodus here.

Yep, I dropped the ball here on a prompt response.

Here's what has happened, within the last three weeks, we've grown about 10x. In the last week, we've brought on three customer support reps to help with the volume. I saw your email and thought that it'd make a good training email when the rep starts the next shift. My failing was in starting to view these emails more from the perspective of just another email and not with the reverence of someone's money is on the line. I'm sorry for this Sad

Also, regarding ShapeShift. That's our fault to. Not that they didn't send out your transaction, but that we brought you to them and they didn't deliver and meet your expectations. We are evaluating on how we can bring about more reliability and stability. We don't want customers of Exodus to have exchange experiences where they don't get their money.

All-in-all, this is 100% my fault. We are fighting to scale this company so that we can be around 10-years from now and it's clear we have a lot of work to do.

To answer this,  maybe because this wallet is never heard on this forum before he created this thread.

And IMO all existing wallets desktop/HW/web/mobile must be posted on this forum to inform others and to let others know that this wallets are existing, posted by affiliated or non-affiliated members doesnt matter as long the thread is informative and helpful.

I already downloaded this to my PC but haven't had the time to try and make a transaction in it. This is just for my initial impression upon installing the wallet. The only thing that I can comment on is about its UI. The dark theme of this wallet really pleases my eyes in a good way. I always use my laptop in a dim lit environment and the dark theme of this wallet helped my eyes to adjust properly. I'll try to update this post when I have the time to use it.

This project looks REALLY nice! Are you able to choose your own fees, or how are they calculated? And does it have a way to "send all" (where it will figure out the max you can send after fees and automatically pick that amount)?

No. Exodus leverages API calls to use the appropriate network fee.

I found out about the project, I started reading about it and asked a lot of questions on their slack. I really liked the way they work and the roadmap they have so I asked the developers If I could make a thread and they accepeted, as simple as that and beside helping the community? I'm not getting anything.

I guess that fee will be your source of income from this app, but can you implement also manual settings for fee amount? It would have helped to avoid similar problems that were recently with BTC transfers.

All is as it should be now, thank you for the courteous and once started, rapid solution with consistent update communication. I will continue to use the Exodus wallet and recommend it to any that ask my advice, as I find the software very pleasant on the eye and easy to use. I hope what happened here is used to help prevent similar situations if they arise in the future, so that the wallet and user base continues to grow.

A message system for support built into the wallet itself instead of slack/email for any dodgery older folks like myself, or non net savvy people could be possibly something to consider when time/funds/staffing allows as not everyone is comfortable jumping from system to system when they have a problem.

Have used it for transferring btc to ethereum and my first transaction with the conversion took less than five minutes using shapeshift as the exchanger for converting to the alt coin but now it is taking longer.
Does the spread % at the bottom make a difference? I noticed the first time I did the transfer it was lower, at 59% but now it is higher at 69,5%. I thought this was the margin that shapeshift takes for the conversion rate.
Does doing it this way automatically within the wallet differ in the rate the sender gets charged by shapeshift if they were to do it straight from their website?
I want to know for comparisons sake and if it was higher than using a site like less say changelly  or off an exchange site.
Just started into exchanging my bitcoin for alt coins and want to know for the best bang for my bitcoin buck. Grin

Grin

ShapeShift is available for everyone and so the wallet, simply check your transaction in the wallet and check the price on the site and see the difference yourself. I'm personally not really a trader myself so I couldn't tell you for sure. I can let the staff know about your question If you feel like it.

Would this be considered a web wallet?
What happens to the coins you have in the wallet when the hard fork happens?
Do they get lost with the new blockchain being created with BU?
Really confused about all this and the wallets that I have been using with coins in them. Embarrassed
Kind of getting disturbed about all this talk and the possibility of losing all your bitcoin/alt coins in these web wallets. But the private keys are with in the program downloaded to your folder's dat.file right?

Yes if you can let them know about my inquiry about the conversion fees that they charge within the wallet transition process compared to going directly to shapeshift.io to do this exchange.
Maybe a chart or graph presentation of this explanation (with an example with another coin with btc perhaps?) would be nice to see so to have it in visual a representation to clarify it for us all.
Thanks.

I just know there's desktop wallet that support multiple major currency. But, i have few question :
1. How heavy is this wallet since i still use old PC? Is it heavy compared with Electrum?
2. Will you support minority bitcoin chain if hard fork happen?
3. How currency exchange works? Must we login to specific exchange before do it?

1. The installer that you download is 74,4 MB (Windows 64bit) so yes It's kinda big compared to Electrum.
3. You don't need to login or do anything, everything is built inside the wallet (probably an API key to deal with ShapeShift) so you just choose what you want to buy and everything is done almost instantly.

I will forward your second question to the team as I'm not sure what there plans are.

I have received an answer from Daniel regarding the hardfork and he gave me the permission to copy it here:

'Exodus is designed to allow you to control your own wealth. With this control comes the ability to make decisions for yourself and also have 100% control over your funds - this includes Bitcoin and all assets.

Exodus gives the power to you as a user to decide how you want to proceed in the case of a hard fork. No matter the decision of Exodus, the software is designed to give the user total ownership and full autonomy over all assets.

Unlike an exchange or hosted wallet provider, Exodus gives you the user full control of your private keys. With these private keys you will be able to retain control of both sets of coins when and if a hard fork takes place.

Again, we want to stress, the power of Exodus is it gives you the user 100% control over all assets. No matter what Exodus as a company decides to do in a hard fork situation you always have an maintain full control and management of your assets
.'

To learn about how to view and control your private keys inside Exodus please see this step-by-step article: http://support.exodus.io/knowledge_base/topics/how-can-i-view-my-private-keys-1

The scariest part of this software is that it is not opensource, please correct me if I am wrong; I saw no mention of its source code.

It is beautiful, it is useful, it has a good functionality and options, it is user friendly.

And that is all, I cannot even know what it is doing in my system as there is no source. Trust it at your own risk.

I'll continue with Electrum, it is not as beautiful but at least it is as useful as Exodus; and it shows the source code (trustworthy).

So it's based on income, is what it looks like he's pushing (validating the business model). But it's not entirely clear what the business model is. Is it just getting income off trading fees for conversions or are there others planned?

Excellent wallet, fast and reliable, GUI s great, ability to exchange coins as well.

The only thing which s missing is Factom support, hope to see this one added quite soon, hopefully during May.

Factom is definitely something coming, If you can check the releases page, you will see a screenshot of the wallet. Factom is listed there, so I believe they are currently testing it and should be available in future updates.

I honestly don't know but the trading is based on ShapeShift.io API so I doubt they are taking any fees from it. You could ask them on their slack, they are very active there.

May have to do that. ShapeShift allows for commission for those that use their API, so my assumption is this is their monetization method. But if they really need income from the project, I don't see this as being viable.

Sure, I know it s planned to be added to Exodus. I also know this delay is not due to Exodus but caused by Factom. However, there s a big difference if it s gonna be included in May or December.

Never heard of this.
Is it like ethereum where it is offered as a smart contract or is it just another alt coin?

This is the first time I have heard of this.
Having support out of the blue from a big company like this should show it's value of being big in the future.
It must be something worth looking into further when i have time.
Thanks in advance for any advice/information on this new offering to the crytoworld.

You are asking about Golem or Exodus? Golem is an altcoin and It's very known, made a successful ICO and It's one of the best projects out there. As for exodus, then Its a multi-coin wallet. It didn't come from anywhere as If you check the development on the releases page, you will see that there were changelogs since late 2015.

I use exodus for less than a month, it seems an incredible wallet because you can make exchanges, I showed it on my youtube channel as doing the exchanges but I exchanged 2 btc for ethers 5 hours ago and I do not receive anything and the transaction in shapeshift Appears complete. At least the exodus service answered me quickly, they are already seeing the case but mention that it may take more than a few days to respond shapeshift. This relieves a little confidence in the project I hope they solve it quickly.

Haven't heard of the alt coin before and have heard about the exodus project before.
Thank you for the advice on them.
Very appreciated.

I sent them an email and I got a reply from JP:

We have no short-term plans to add Ripple. However it is an asset we'd like to add in the future. We will email you when we support it.

That would be great!  Smiley

Posting here because the Public Slack has been closed to new subscribers...

So I downloaded Exodus, the 64 bit Windows "installer"... and ran it... without giving me ANY choices of any description (not even a cancel install box), it popped up a box saying "Installed, you can run from the icons"... well, ummm thanks??!?  Roll Eyes maybe I would have liked some input into that process... #strikeOne...

Then I tried running Exodus... and it comes up with a lovely red bar telling me that it can't connect to the P2P network... clicking on the "learn more" I am presented with a web page about opening up ports... seriously??? you want me to start opening ports for a closed source app that connects to a P2P network??!? #strikeTwo...

Ok, well let's at least see if their claims for being compatible with BIP44 are true... I'll just get the seed and put it into the BIP39 Tool... Oh... no... I won't... because you can't do any backup until after your first deposit??!? I don't even get to see what my 12 word wallet seed is, until I put money in?... #strikeThree... you're out.  Undecided

For the record, I did restore a 12 word seed from another wallet... and it seems to have generated the same addresses and is showing my transaction history... so I'm guessing it is using the m/44'/0'/0'/0 derivation path like Mycelium... but I still can't use the backup as I haven't made a deposit??? Which apparently means that I can't add a password to the wallet?? Huh Huh Huh So, now my restored wallet is just sitting there without a password to protect it??!?  Shocked  Undecided

It also shows me the first address in the wallet, as opposed to the first "unused" address when I click receive after doing a restore.

And finally, when you uninstall the app... there are no notifications or anything... and it leaves behind all your data in the %appdata% directory... including your wallet, which I presume is not password protected or encrypted if you haven't successfully managed to run the backup process...

"This user is an advanced user. They run their own nodes, etc. They are not a good fit for the choices Exodus makes. We do not target these customers and direct them to use other products. Again, to be 100% clear, Exodus is not a good choice for them and never will be. We specifically have a very opinionated process to make it as easy as possible for new users to digital assets" -- Answer by co-founder.

Great looking wallet..

I am running the x64 client on Windows 10 but I don't have this top menu... How do I enable it?

My wallet looks like this.. no menu

This pretty much removes all settings, since the only thing that is in the "settings" menu in the life side bar, is theme choices and an option to disable coins you don't use.

The developer menu is not there by default so you need to bring it on Linux or Windows using keys: CTRL + SHIFT + D

Take a look at the guys deposits... 0.0008, 0.0007... even the 0.001 stuff is low. He is geting a bunch of mining "dust"... and then tries to send 0.01. Do the math, best case scenario it is likely to be a minimum of like 10 inputs required to make it up to 0.01.

10 * 148 = 1480 bytes just for inputs... add in 68 for the Receive address and Change address... + 10 for the transaction framework... = 1558 bytes... at current recommended fees of 350-400 you're looking at around 0.006 in fees for the best case...

I suspect that either you are probably running into a similar situation... after calculating the transaction fee on all your dust inputs, there isn't much left for you to actually exchange with shapeshift...

or, your "small deposit" hasn't actually confirmed yet and the wallet is only letting you convert the confirmed balance.

That appears to be the case in his (youtube miner)situation maybe, I sent the money out and ended up getting charged once, leaving $0.38 of the $2.30 I've edited myy post to reflect this. Either way the in-app FAQ is less than truthful to be kind.

Also, I only did the one deposit of $2.30 ish, Not multiple deposits.I'll post a screenshot if you want.

Nope, everything is out now and my balance is zero.

There were 2 transactions, $2.30ish in $0.38 out.

@burnedbyfees:

Thank you for bringing to our attention our old and outdated FAQ question about BTC fees. If I recall correctly, that was written in 2015 and as we all know, the Bitcoin network is more congested than it was at that point. The Bitcoin network is very expensive right now.

We also have work to do to communicate this difference of available funds on the exchange section. We have made massive improvements on the send screen, which it's interesting that you left those screenshots out...

Here is the support article on the situation: http://support.exodus.io/knowledge_base/topics/why-is-my-available-balance-less-than-my-wallet-balance

Finally, as far as our non-existent support. I'm sorry this was your experience. Who handled your ticket? I'd like to review the correspondence.

I clicked the in-app support and got something like "down for maintenance". I can't remember now because I've uninstalled the app.

Look I know what it's like to start something and ask for peoples interest and trust, and I also know there are external factors beyond your control. So if you are changing the FAQ to reflect the true cost of the fees I will delete my first post.

The main issue I had is the FAQ, but also the automatic highest fees.

One of my friends recommended me to use this wallet . I havent tried this wallet yet. But going to try this wallet very soon. How about the transaction fees? Actually I am searching for a wallet with less transaction fees.  I am actually using coinbase. Now it has become impossible to use it because of its hugh transaction fees.

You must know that in every transaction you will make in any kind of wallet, the more dust payments you received from anyone the higher transaction fee will be made when you are going to send to someone. So avoid receiving dust payments to prevent higher fee.

I believe that a good wallet is a wallet where your transactions get confirmed fast and that's the purpose behind high fees. It definitely won't hurt to set dynamic fees though.

Exodus > Coinbase, at any time. For the simple reason that you don't really control your private keys with coinbase, not to mention the issues they are having with the IRS and the ridiculous needed verification when you want to use their exchange.

It's a good looking and easy to use wallet with a low footprint but the fees are high, with no way to choose.

The FAQ is out of date, which led me to think I may have been scammed when the fee was much higher than expected, but in retrospect it appears I may have been too critical.

I may give it another try, if you try it, it's not worth it for any amount under $20, as a not insignificant chunk of it will be eaten by fees. I'd say it's only for people making larger transactions $50-100+

No that's not currently possible however you can always export your private keys and do whatever you want with them. (signing messages by importing them somewhere else etc.). The wallet is not really for advanced users, not everyone knows what signing and verifying messages is, Its mostly for the newbie users that don't really know much about the technical stuff in bitcoin.

The picture is very accurate however as you can see, Factom is planned for Q2 2017 (next a few weeks/months) and yes, they have plans to add more coins in the upcoming updates. I have posted the roadmap on the OP too: http://woobull.com/exodus-wallet-roadmap-a-list-of-upcoming-asset-support/

Couple of quick questions.  These may have been answered in the pages, but all I had time to do was read the OP and scan a few pages.  Basically all of the questions have to do with updates to the wallet software.  First, if you release a new version does the wallet check for that and either offer an upgrade or auto upgrade. The other questions all stem from that point.  I had a piece of software that had shapeshift involved and it worked well, but I that shaftshape changed their API shortly after their launch and the software stopped working with that service.  They didn't mention an upgrade, but I looked at the site and found one, installed it and the data that was with the old suite never integrated.

It was a series of painful crap to get everything working again with the same account details.  In the same vane, if you add or remove new coins, will the software just know that or will some upgrading need to be done.

I stopped using this wallet when I couldn't manage to set my own custom fees.

From time to time I receive some dust amounts of BTC and because of that, I end up having to pay a lot on fees when I want to move my money to another wallet. To avoid paying 50% of the value in fees because of the large number of inputs, I occasionally send all my Bitcoins to another address with a very low fee to make them one big output to be used in my new address.

And that is the problem... I can't do that on Exodus because I can't customize my fees to be lower than the recommended.

Make this feature available on Exodus and I will make sure to use your wallet.

I'm not sure about your first question, I will ask the team and get back to you. As for the second, I have no idea what you are talking about "piece of software"  Huh If you have another software using the ShapeShift API then this has nothing to do with the wallet and your question is irrelevant.

It's because one of the two:

1. Unconfirmed transactions you already have.
2. Fees (which means you received a lot of small/micro payments) which resulted into having a big transaction size => higher fees.

I like suites like the AIO Burstcoin wallet because all they have really done is package a website within a form as an application.  That means that all they have to do is change their website or the pages that are displayed and everyone is up to date.

I actually started doing that myself with some apps.  What interests me with yours is the integration of multi coins, which is not really new, and the integration of some type of exchange.

This is a rob,pay 11 usd for send 4 usd ? Im receive all days 2.40 usd in this Wallet and now im what can im do for save my money here ??
Take your wallet words/seed and use it to restore your wallet in an application that allows more control over fees and send from there[1]. You are not 'stuck' with Exodus... assuming they use the same Derivation Path for their wallet. I can't tell, because:

a. the app is closed source
and
b. because I couldn't get to see my wallet words, as Exodus will only allow you to backup your wallet once you receive some money...

so I don't even know if the wallet words/seeds from Exodus will generate the same keys/addresses when used with another wallet. I would hope they use BIP44. Can anyone confirm?

[1]NOTE: if you choose to ignore suggestions for recommended fees, chances are your transaction will get stuck...

actualy, its not that good for long time storage. not that good for people trying to make small investments.

It is just realy easy to use. and if you do not mind paying premium transaction fees, for fast exchanges and transactions, it is a realy good Wallet.

Well, Its because you are receiving too many small transactions as I said earlier. Exodus doesn't allow dynamic fees but Electrum does. If you really want the ability to change fees to a lower option then go with Electrum. Exodus is not meant for advanced users, Its for the new crypto currency users that are looking for a convenient way to store their assets and move them around.

If you want to send mining output to a wallet... make sure you set the withdraw limit to be high. Otherwise you will end up like all these other people complaining about having to spend $10 on fees to send $40. Getting lots of small payments results in increased transaction size when you go to send and then you get slammed with massive fees.

Not sure what constitutes small amounts for ETH, but for BTC you want to set your withdraw to like 0.01

Hi thanks for your reply, if it is clear that small amounts is not convenient for the fee but I just wanted to know if it was possible to use exodus as minning wallet, because I had selected coinbase but it does not seem to accept eth from mined. Thank you

They already made an article about this: http://support.exodus.io/knowledge_base/topics/does-exodus-support-bip148-and-the-uasf

I asked the co-founder and here is his answer:

"We have users getting paid from mining pools just fine. However, as we have no idea how payouts are coming in from every possible source we can not be positive. So try with small amounts first.
Exodus today does not recognize ETH payments coming from a contract. That may be the same thing as Coinbase. As always, money is never lost since you have the private keys but more of a display and does Exodus recognize this crazy formatted transaction."

Thank you very much for your help, probe with coinbase and there was no problem, the pool paid me .15 eth and instantly appeared the transaction in my coinbase wallet, now I'm mining towards exodus, if everything comes out well I'll tell you if someone it serves. regards

Hi All

Was looking to migrate from Jaxx to Exodus as Jaxx has issues with Dash coins these days on Mac at least and where the app freezes and does not initialize the wallet or balance. So looked for an alternative and stumbled upon Exodus.
Now everything was fine except that here they have a bug too, on the McOS latest 1.26.2 release, ETH shows only 1 address when exported out of guess 13 possible.. anyways, this results of missing reflected funds in my wallet, as I see those in the EBC..
I sent support a message, hope to see what they reply if they cope with load..
On the other hand, guys you need to monetize on this to cope with load or get VCs on board otherwise a negative brand/product perception will hit you hard or at least hamper your window of opportunity growth..

MS

---

Update, after support responded, (thank you Faris), looks like this is a Jaxx issue, as they need to drop the HD functionalities and support ETH hierarchical structure with a single "Genesis" ETH address
if you have Jaxx, be aware of that design issue:  https://www.ethnews.com/jaxx-to-abandon-ethereum-hierarchical-deterministic-structure-and-embrace-more-erc20-tokens
The workaround is to transfer to your main first/Genesis ETH address any balance from other ones Jaxx created.. and stick to that address for ETH

I think i'm missing here.

The Exodus wallet doesn't rely on downloading the blockchain - meaning no need to download the blockchain.
How is this archieved vs the normal wallets from the coins themselves?

I thought that the blockchain was required to work with the currency?

Well it depends on how many transactions you have received in the particular address that you are trying to send your bitcoins from. The more separate transactions your wallet has the bigger the fee is going to be in order to send it over. If all the transactions were really small, it is possible that you have to pay 11 dollars for 4 dollar transaction now. It would be easier to decide that if you could tell the address from which you are trying to send it.

I have been using exodus for a while, and never had any ridiculous fees or any other troubles. I think the highest fee that I have ever paid was like 2 dollars or something. If you want to avoid it then just use a wallet that allows you to change the fee, though do it at your own risk as it might lead your transaction to never get confirmed.

You are wrong. The wallet relies on the blockchain, it just doesn't need to download it. The blockchain is required because exodus is an online desktop wallet. At the time you launch it, it connects to the internet and basically acts as a regular online wallet like for example blockchain.info.

Hi new to all this so excuse the dumb question... so I'm mining Ethereum and transferring the minimum amount that I'm allowed to (0.05 Eth) each day into my wallet whilst I learn the ropes. Does this then mean that even though I store up several days worth of Eth (say $60) I would still be charged a higher rate due to the smaller initial transactions? If this is the case would I be better off using another wallet to take the initial smaller transactions and then transfer one large amount to another wallet and the use built in exchange? or have I got the wrong end of the stick completely?

Many Thanks

Not at the moment,no. You need to download the latest version and simply install it like you did with the previous ones. It's okay, It will overwrite the old files and you won't suffer any losses. It's important to have the passphrase though, just in case.

Interesting wallet with multifunction features, and we could convert between bitcoin-altcoins instantly?
Is this wallet support multisend function? Such as blockchain but they have disabled it.

I don't think so, at least for the Mac version you have to download the new version and just replace the old one.

It is getting to the point where you have to have ten apps installed to deal with all of the Crypto action, that and have five different sites open at the same time.  A nice little piece of software that covers two or three jobs would be awesome.

I installed this wallet program recently, it seems really good. If I could offer some suggestions for new features down the track:

  • Ability to set an extra PIN which must be entered before every transaction and accessing the backup screen (which would mean it's safer to leave the app open all the time)
  • Support for other real-world currencies (specifically, I'm interested in Australian dollars)
  • History graphs plotting the value of each currency's worth over time?
  • Show the dollar value of each currency as well as the units at the same time on the Portfolio screen
  • Skins are nice but many of them look the same to me; maybe replace a few dark skins with some other, lighter ones?

Keep up the good work. It's a great program.

Really great program and very simple to use. After they add Factom and up their security option, it might become preferable choice for most of users.
However 2FA and withdrawal lock address is a must have, the second option is not that hard to implement so I d suggest Exodus to do so.

If you are asking If there is the ability to export private keys then yes, you can do that from the developer menu by doing: CTRL + SHIFT + D. A menu should appear and give you multiple features and exporting your keys is one of them.

I believe this issue was never reported before, at least not lately. If you could give me the error message you was getting? Or it could be indeed that ShapeShift had a maintenance but not sure, since I didn't see any announcements about it.

The questions and suggestions given above will be answered once I get an answer from the founders of the wallet. I sent everything.

When: Its recommended after you installed the software (exudos) on your device (Computer)
Why: Because its really important to have a copy/backup on it to prove that you are the owner of the address.

Some guys in this thread are talking about avoiding dust payment to get a lower fee. But how do you avoid dust payments? What to do? I am new to this, and my fees (in jaxx wallet) are extremely high (around 25$).

I am looking for a solution, and was wondering, can exodus solve my fee problem?

I am mostly using shapeshifting

No wallet could fix this for you sadly. If you want to fix this then you need to start accepting bigger payments. If you are getting them from a faucet or something, then keep them on the site until you have a decent amount then withdraw everything instead of withdrawing small amounts of a hourly or daily basis.

ok, thanks. I think that I've fixed my problem with extremely high fees. In Jaxx I just reset'd my cache, so that the transaction history was deleted. Seems like it changed some, now I "only" paid a 2-3$. Much better than my 25-30$ before that. I don't know if it payed also for my old transactions, or what happened (any suggestions?), but know it seems like my problem was solved

for some reason Jaxx says do not mine directly to their wallet (which I really do not understand - are they saying don't use addresses with large numbers of transactions?)

You can`t mine with Exodus.

To mine coins you need full nodes. Exodus and Jaxx are light wallets and thus do not mine.

There really isn't much point at all for them to keep adding new coins - unless a coin is extremely popular of course. Not only will this clutter up their clean and simple interface with unnecessary assets it'll also mean that they are supporting shitcoins which personally i don't think is right. But ZCash in my opinion is worth a try, although by using their client you'll be sacrificing a bit of privacy.

Does anyone know whether you can send a bitcoin transaction with a custom fee? Curretnly it seems like the fees are a bit steep, or is that per kb?

This is definitely one of my favourite wallets to use, just so simple yet so many functions. It's so nice for a wallet to be able to fetch each of the prices of assets you hold for you, and at the same time let you store your own private keys on your own computer. This is the sort of applications that needs to appear more frequently on the market for cryptos to be successful

Is it just me, or is the shapeshift rates significantly better on exodus than on the actual site as well? Maybe it's because transaction fees are mitigated this way?

I'm pretty sure that fees that are shown to you when you go to the send page is per kB. I never really sent bitcoin with Exodus, only Ethereum and XMR so i don't know(for bitcoin i have other wallets). But 0.0038~ BTC per transaction isn't that bad even if it's not per kB, its just how things are atm.

You can choose which assets you wanna see in your wallet: for example I have no Augur so I didn't check their box so I don't see them. Also I don't understand how Zcash would be a shitcoin...

It's very unlikely for the next release I'd say. Usually, the upcoming coins should be visible in the screenshots posted in the release page, the one visible there is DECRED at the moment and It's not available on this version so I believe they are doing tests on it. It should be available on one of the next releases.

Ah ok, I was asking because on the roadmap I read "Exodus moved ETC from undecided to planned status in June 2017."

Are you able to send ethereum assets to an exodus wallet?

I know that they don't support assets such as Quantum Resistant Ledger on their wallet directly but i'm wondering if you can send it to your wallet, and somehow it'll show up in a separate balance because you own your own private keys with Exodus. Probably not, but just putting it out there anyways, might have a chance that this is possible somehow.

Apart from this, i've been using Exodus flawlessly for a few months now. Never had a problem with them, and the syncing process that altcoin wallets require is just too long for most average bitcoiners. Definitely worth a go for anyone looking for a light client that you still have control over.

I believe It's possible to store them on any ethereum address and as long as you control the private keys, you should be fine and in order to see the balance of each asset, you could use Myetherwallet https://www.myetherwallet.com/#view-wallet-info and then select "View the address only". I can check this for you with the team If you want, I personally wouldn't recommend until they actually start supporting that specific asset, just to avoid issues.

Exodus doesn't give you full control over your ETH so you can't get private key of your ETH addresses. You have to either wait till the exodus team will add tokens/assets manually in their platform which is quite unlikely for right now or you have to use other wallet like jaxx which gives you private key of your ETH address which you can use in myetherwallet.com to see and move all assets/tokens sent to that ETH address.

This is entirely incorrect.  You absolutely control the private key and can import it into MEW to see and send any tokens attached to the address.

Here are the instructions:

Great looking wallet..

I am running the x64 client on Windows 10 but I don't have this top menu... How do I enable it?

This pretty much removes all settings, since the only thing that is in the "settings" menu in the life side bar, is theme choices and an option to disable coins you don't use.

The developer menu is not there by default so you need to bring it on Linux or Windows using keys: CTRL + SHIFT + D

You cant export your private keys, i tried doing by going to developer option and then assets and then bitcoin, but all i can export is bitcoin address... even if you click export private key or address the output is same, only address is exported.

This is a bug from 1.27, It should be fixed on the next update (this Thursday). You still can downgrade to 1.26 and export your private keys in the meantime If you want to otherwise just wait for the next in a couple of days.

You can find more info regarding UASF here: http://support.exodus.io/knowledge_base/topics/does-exodus-support-bip148-and-the-uasf

It's worth mentioning that UASF may not be needed at this point because SegWit2X could get activated in the next a few days by looking at the hashing power they currently have.

Do you ever think they're going to turn into one of those exchanges that's going to accept a ton more alt-coins, like maybe even the amount of altcoins that are on shapeshift or changelly or one of those sites? Like I do have exodus and use it at the moment, but I'd only really like to use it for the smaller cap coins that I own and are taking a big dice role on seeing if I can make some money out of it.

I know you're not related to the team in the least, but I did think this was worth a shot at seeing.

Thanks!

You can see the roadmap on the OP, there is definitely more tokens and coins coming to the wallet this year (in addition to hardware wallets support etc.) as for the exchange part, exodus uses ShapeShift API, so unless both coins X/Y exists on ShapeShift, they won't be added.

You use the exchange only while trading and the funds are not in an exchange, they are in your wallet and you are the only one controlling them. It's possible to export your private keys and they are never sent to the servers.

Hi there, I made an exchange transfer of ripple to Etherum using Changelly.
I entered my etherum receieved address from my exodus wallet. The transaction was successful however, its been 2 days since it was made and the transaction is still outstanding on my exodus wallet?
I've tried to refresh the page on my etherum wallet to rescan the block chain but it didnt pick anything up yet?

Can you please advise ASAP? I love love the exodus wallet but im a little woried now- thinking of moving my wallet if this issue still is inherent and not resolved? I have sent 2 emails to your support email address over the space of 48hrs and still no reply?

Thanks

I will try to let the developers know about your issue. If you could just please post your TXID, It could be a great help. I've read that ethereum network is currently having a lot of traffic by the way so this might be the problem.

Nice update from the dev, maybe I will update it later.
But it is much better if they add dynamic fees in making transaction for bitcoin. Because there are issues and instances when sending, they get too huge for a transaction fee since exodus generate the tx fee itself when sending.

I was going to suggest them to do the same since this is the same reason I stopped using Exodus.

But after reading their FAQ at http://support.exodus.io/help_center, looks like they are not planning to do so because they say most users of Exodus are 100% new to blockchain assets and not technical. So, users would put a very low fee without the understanding this could cause the transaction to not be delivered.

Quote
If being able to manually set a low fee is important to you Exodus is not a good software choice and we encourage you to use other bitcoin wallets. The good news is there are a lot of highly technical BTC wallets much better than Exodus in this regard. Electron is awesome for highly technical details like this. With the current market reach of Exodus this will not be a focus for our company anytime soon.

I hope they're gonna change their mind about this, I used Electrum as my first wallet and despite the fact it was something completely new to me I found it super easy to choose the fee...

Right now I switched to Exodus because I can store different values and usually I hold, so I don't need to move the coins often.

I can't say that they won't add this for sure but like TryNinja quoted, they pretty much have no plans for this yet. The priority right now is to support multiple currencies and also fix bugs, and make it as easier as possible to use the wallet and have the best experience, they are not targeting advanced users but that could change over the next a few months/years.

The exodus team earn from the fees (of exchanges between the multiple currencies and not while sending).

I just started using this wallet a week ago.  The interface looks nice and easy to use.

What is the fee structure for exchanging one crypto for another?  For example, converting Bitcoin to Ethereum, or vise versa?

Thanks.

I don't really use the wallet for exchanging assets but the fees are not something fixed I believe. Exodus simply use ShapeShift API so everything comes from there and you can see their fees here: https://shapeshift.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/202585602-What-s-your-fee-structure-

Awesome thanks.  So the fee is just embedded in the exchange rates and approximately 0.5% for anyone that's interested.  Not bad.

No, you will need to export the private key to a wallet that supports signing such as bitcoin-qt, armory, or electrum.

Importing your private keys in another wallet won't move your coins. You will only be using two interfaces to manage the Bitcoins in your address.
Just use Electrum to sign the message and keep using Exodus if you want. Nothing will change.

The coins are in the address associated with the private key not the software itself.  The software is essentially just a gui for the private key.  So if you export it to Electrum they will show there, but if you just sign the message close electrum they will be in your Exodus.

So guys, just to be sure: I export the private key from Exodus, I import it in Electrum, I sign the message and we're fine until here. But then what happens to the private key in Electrum? I mean, do I have to delete it or simply logging out Electrum forgets about it and I can simply open Exodus?

Electrum won't forget anything. I believe the only way for removing would be by doing one of the below:

1. Deleting the wallet file in the AppData folder. (which will erase everything including the addresses generated by electrum Itself)
2. Recovering your wallet using the seed. (Imported private keys are not part of the seed so doing this should give you your addresses back without the Exodus address).

You should also understand that there is no problem If your private key is imported in both Electrum and Exodus at the same time.

So in this case, if I understood correctly, depending on which wallet I open I can see/use my balance in it?

You previously said that "that there is no problem If your private key is imported in both Electrum and Exodus at the same time", so what I was trying to ask is: if I leave the private keys in both Electrum and Exodus, can I see my balance in both of them? I mean, I open Electrum and I see my X Bitcoins, then I close it and open Exodus and they are there as well?

Yes you can.

Understand this: Both wallets (and all other wallets in the market) are just a GUI to see and manage the Bitcoins presented on your address.

This means that you can import your private key in 20 different wallets and you will see the same balance in all of them. If you spend Bitcoins in any of them, all wallets will have the balance updated.

It's like a email with SMTP and multiple clients. You can read and send your emails with any of them.

Hello,

i´m also trying to import a private key from exodus to electrum to just sign a message. But i am kinda new to all this.

Mind posting a screenshot (by hiding your private keys of course) on the window It's showing? To import your private keys, you should go here (pic from google):

Just as a reminder, If you import private keys to Electrum, the seed won't be able to recover that new address/private key you imported.

You mean Electrum's seed, while Exodus' seed would work anyway, right?

Yes of course. The reason why the seed won't generate that imported address is because all the addresses that you find in Electrum are actually derived and pre generated from the seed.

The new 1.29.0 version is out, the changelog (Aragon and EOS are now supported) and a few screenshots:

They aren't going to add signing messaged because the vast majority of their customers don't know what that is or will never need to, and then they add an advanced feature to control the amount of P2P nodes you can connect too?

Pretty sure that more people would prefer to sign a message.

If you mean before the update then yes, they didn't announce anything or talked about it. That could mean that we should expect more coins to come in the near future.

I believe in this aswell.

They also don't want to add the option to customize fees on your transaction because newbies would end up putting a fee too small making the transaction to never be confirmed. But I don't see how adding a option to sign a message would bring something not beneficial to users.

I sincerely want to use this wallet. But the developers are not giving me enought reasons to do this change.

Good user interface. Love the site when it is interactive and professional colours. Exodus should publish their services by themselves. They can be good one in publishing it as they look like professional with the website. Hoping to see some campaigns from them and ANN thread for more briefe discussion about it. Wondering why you publishing behalf of them.

I asked them and they accepted, there is no particular reason. I liked the project and I simply wanted to help them to grow and that's pretty much it. The team is aware of this thread and they are checking it from time to time, I believe.

Omega, I just tried to import the private keys in Electrum but there is no import option, only Sweep and Export. What's exactly the sweep? And what does it happen later, is there any risk / conflict with Exodus? Can I use it only to sign a message?

Thanks a lot!

So what actually are you using? Those images are from linux base electrum. If you are using windows then you have to navigate to File/New wallet or restore/I have private keys/then paste your private keys there.

Sweep is only when you imported already your private keys with funds to X wallet then you have to sweep the coins from your old address (address belongs to the private keys you imported) to your new address from the X wallet by sending them with of course using tx fee.( Btw correct me if I'm wrong here)

I use Mac. Pretty much what I need to do is to import my Exodus' private key (which I've already exported) into Electrum only to sign a message, because with Exodus is not possible to sign messages.
But I never did something like this, so I'm trying to understand how to do it without messing up.

So in this case I should create or restore (which one?)  a new wallet in Electrum in order to use Exodus' private key?

First, if you don't know how to export your private-key from Exodus: http://support.exodus.io/knowledge_base/topics/how-can-i-view-my-private-keys-1
Go to Electrum -> New Wallet -> Standard Wallet -> Use public or private keys -> Put your private key there and click next.

Now you can just sign your message. You can keep using your wallet on Exodus or use both softwares.
