BTC Hello friends, please I have problem with my wallet (Blockchain acc), and I can't do any transaction with my wallet because I forgot my second password to the wallet but I do have my primary password. And I also don't have a backup and  recovery phrase of the wallet.
So what do I suppose to do to have access to my fund since I only have the primary password to the account or wallet?
Thanks for your anticipation to help out a newbie.... Cry Cry Cry

Going off of the blockchain interface as I know it, you better figure out what it was one way or another. I hope you have it written down or something because there is definitely an issue if you can't remember it.

You might be able to contact them about it, but don't take that as a guarantee. I've never had to deal with something like this before.

Same problem here, I didn't forget the password but it doesn't work at all and I don't remember changing it. I have even the secondary password memos and all but it doesn't work.. first it worked on the PC only and the phone was giving an error, and now on none of them: both got the same error. Contacting the support will only give you one answer: the only way you can do anything is to restore an older wallet backup if you have one. But keep in mind that it doesn't also restore the imported addresses. This is the problem I am facing: it restores everything but the imported addresses... Which are exactly the ones I got money into. RIP my money Cheesy maybe you can make a full backup restore from the point where you had no secondary password.

hopefully there wasn't too much in there as there is nothing you can do..

the account wouldn't be secure if you can just forget the password and then reset it somehow.

You can generate new password using the forgot password option. You'll loss the previous bitcoin address, your wallet balance gets imported to the new bitcoin wallet. This wallet gets a new password that you've created. Now in every places you need to update your bitcoin address to receive payments.

no there no forgot password option in blockchain.info.

they actually state right at the creation of the 2ndary password that they CANNOT reset this and DO NOT LOSE IT.

I don't get it. WHAT secondary password are you people talking about??

All I know is that to log in to my blockchain.info account, all I need is my identifier(which can be found on my email) and my password.

I've never seen a second password anywhere. There is a passphrase I could create but that is for the identifier(like a backup  for my identifier in case I lose access to my email in which case the passphrase could be provided to blockchain.info to verify the ownership of the account.)

Anyway, as far as I know, if you lose your password then you lose your funds. Blockchain.info says they don't store user's passwords they can't help you retrieve it if lost.

in the option under security there is a way to encrypt your wallet with a 2nd password.. i highly recommend it..
if someone hacks your account they still cant spend anything without this password.

At least you are laughing about RIP your money. I wouldn't laugh at all. I suggest this is the right lesson you have learned to switch to desktop wallets like Electrum or Multibit.

What is the point of keeping your bitcoins somewhere where a third party is responsible for them for you? Isn't it much easier to have a desktop wallet? If you are worried about convenience, now Electrum has also an Android version in which you can use whenever you are.

This is just another wake up call for people reading this. I have warned several times but I rarely read this section of the forum. I invite you to come here and check for yourselves

2FA is better than having a secondary password. I don't use two passwords as it's already tough to remember one. The email confirmation security is better than having 2 passwords. In such cases, the wallet funds are completely lost if there's no backup or primary key stored. In such cases where you can't recover the funds from your own account by even proving you're the owner, the wallets are useless.

Keeping the master seed or the 12 mnemonic pass phrases  of blockchain.info is much better than the other option, or the keeping the private keys instead. If you don't have that in you hand then its possible that you can recover your funds but because you're too lazy who forgets to read this important page on that site https://blockchain.info/wallet/security it simply helps you to secure your funds.

With threads like this I have my doubt that some people are fit to be in charge of their own bitcoin wallets.
Bitcoin wallet is not some email or online game account, it contains real money.
Op you disregarded 1st rule blockchain.info's wallet is asking you of when you create an account - to write down your seed passphrase on paper and store is safely.

Please make sure to read before doing anything in any service especially web wallets, however in this case I think OP should be able to login to wallet but not spend any coins, couldn't he/she change the settings like disabling the second password?
@OP don't you have chrome to save your passwords? however that could only suggest to update your password since google pass manager is still dumb  I wonder how could someone know how to set secondary password but not knowing how important it is to save it somewhere.

I am not sure it can be recovered. What is the fate of such lost coin? Such a kind of address if it cant be accessed after some years, the coin should be sent back to an active blockchain by the wallet management, probably at cheaper auction or raffle. IMO

I guess you mean wallet id when you say primary password and wallet password when you say secondary password?
If you don't remember the id then look your email and you'll find it, has been sent when you created the wallet

If you don't remember the password, then better send a message to their support and see what could be done

Next time do a backup of the private keys of the wallet, so even if you lose your password, you still will be able to move the coins

Yeah most of the time you can recover any information about your account by going back to your emails and you will find them, but if you need you can contact the support and sort things out with them, I really hate these kind of situations, that is why I always keep my accounts information in a note near my pc so I don’t lose them.

When you have forgotten your password -- whether it be the account's main password or the (optional) secondary password that controls whether you can send Bitcoin from your account -- you only have one option.  You need to recover the password.  Blockchain.info can't help you because they don't know the password.

There are several different password recovery strategies, but they all boil down to identifying likely passwords and then testing those passwords, one after the other until you find the right one.  We recently published a "how to" article that walks you through how to choose the passwords that are most likely to work, and then how to test them.  The article is here: https://cryptoassetrecovery.com/blog/recover-lost-blockchain-password/

The only wrinkle in your case is that you need to test the secondary password rather than the main password.  (You would probably figure this out on your own, but) all you need to do is login with the main password and then attempt to send your Bitcoin to a new account.  Blockchain will then prompt you for your secondary password, and you can begin to test the most likely options.

Good luck!

This was also my assumption since a wallet could never have an 2 password, maybe 2fa but its part of verification though. He definitely mean about those wallet identifier which can really be seen or found on the email you have used on registering on blockchain because we do all know they do sent an email regarding on that one. If you forgot or you didn't find it then you can just simply use or click that help button and following options according to your problem.

you definitely can have 2 passwords on a wallet.. blockchain and blocktrail both offer 2nd password options.. one to log in and one to send coins.. they also offer 2fa as well, so basically you need 3 forms of id to log in.
also electrum desktop wallet has an option to encrypt your wallet with one password to open the program and have a 2nd password to send funds.. its actually the default option.
