Yeah this year seems to be a great year for bitcoin as the amount of negative news of bitcoin is decreasing from what I can see. And bitcoin reached a peak in those very first days of 2017 so that's a good sign. Although there is nothing that we can predict about the future but I believe bitcoin will gain lots of success and people's trust and become an all-time-wanted currency Grin

Bitcoin was at highest peak at start of this year but now again we  see bitcoin going to back same high price. This is really good for bitcoins lovers as they know that bitcoin high price is a stable one and it will encourage more traders and investors to invest in this coin. I think 2017 will be a game changer for bitcoin.

Another interesting side-note: None of my friends have (as far as I know) ever bought any cryptocoins. Many have talked about it but never taking the step, I guess they don't need it.. But last month, one acquaintance to me bought his first Bitcoin, and he is 60 years old, how awesome is that!

To be honest I don't think bitcoin is mature yet to truly compete with fiat currencies. Yes bitcoin had a great start and 7 years was a massive journey but frankly speaking, we still have to reach new heights and for that, we need a strong user base as compared to other payment options such as PayPal and MasterCard, visa etc.

I honestly believe Bitcoin is already there as being generally accepted by MANY online merchants. There is still a long way to go and yes, I also believe their is a lot of growth still for many high quality altcoins.

I am also seeing that in this year bitcoin is no more in any risk the investors are also very confident with their investment in bitcoin because of the stability of bitcoin in the market (I am not pointing to the stability of price but its acceptance in the market) which is the cause that it will n more face any issue to drop down.

it is very possible. bitcoin currently has a market share increase. gradual growth bitcoin users have very good prospects. and this year has been very much at all points into supporting bitcoin. we will be able to see it all in second quartal in this year.

The increasing user base of Bitcoin doesn't guarantee increase in its price. If someone invested in Bitcoin in 2013 @ $1200 still struggling to make single cent in profit. However, what matters is the use of Bitcoin. When the usage of Bitcoin increases, its price will increase automatically. This year we are seeing rise in Bitcoin price because overall volume of Bitcoin increasing. So we can expect 2017, the year of Bitcoin and the year which the 2013 investors are awaiting  Grin

2017 is the year of altcoins...

bitcoin will loose it's marketshare due to lack of innovation and real world usage adoption

30mins for confirmation? come on...

What altcoins? All I see is shitcoin pump and dumps as usual. Bitcoin is still king with a guaranteed 80%+ of crypto money. The rest of altcoins keep fucking up and looking inconsistent and bitcoin is as solid as always. You can't even mention a single altcoin that would challenge bitcoin for the number one spot.
Yeah I agree. Bitcoin is the king of the hill and nothing can stop it. Some potential altcoin like zcash or monero or etherium will have to wait. 2017 does not belong to them. It is the Bitcoin year and I can ensure that the price will skyrocket at the end of this year. No doubt that more and more people have started using bitcoin and invest money in it

I've been following Bitcoin and the whole crypto-blockchain-scene closely since 2012 and I'm beginning to see overwhelming positive news over the whole spectrum. Has Bitcoin finally overcome its infancy and beginning its teenage and acceptance in the world? Will 2017 be a good year? I think it will, maybe the best so far.

I agree to a certin extent, but the blocksize issue could be a thorn in our side  Roll Eyes  this whole core/BU thing needs put to bed soon.

There would be no more huge votality in this year same as or worse than what happened on the first week of january. The effects of selling bitcoin in China is now recovering, I expect that it will continue. It's good news for bitcoin holser but in traders specially who holds alot of crypto currecny/altcoin. Let us just hold and hold bitcoun and wait for the perfect timing to trade/use it.

No new technology have everything fixed from the the word go! In the case of Bitcoin, we can attest that it has been stormed the weather for 8 straight years and looking rather even stronger. For now, there is yet to be an altcoin to displace Bitcoin and until there is one, Bitcoin would continue to wax stronger.

The delay in confirmation was owing to the crowded network and that wasn't totally strange, because the user base of Bitcoin these days is experiencing some unprecedented growth. At any rate, the delays have been taken care of, as would be expected along the journey of any pioneer.
