The Ascendancy scam isn't the most brazen, but it's the latest one. The scammer convinced loads of trusted legendary members to back his coin then disappeared with the ICO money.

Bytecoin was very elaborate:

The dev used some buggery in the hash algo code which basically artificially slowed down mining (though not for him of course). At the same time, he claimed the coin had been used on the dark web for 2 years before announcing on the clear web (to justify why 2 years of coins had already been mined at launch). Then the devs went on to start MinerGate.

This thread goes to show that there are many scams in the field of cryptocurrency, and various scams, both in the form of cryptocurrency projects and/or exchange(s), trading etc. are still ongoing today. In fact, some people might regard the very currency they hold in their physical wallets as of now -- be it dollars, euros, pounds or other types of cash -- as a scam. Keep your posts coming, this thread is a good collection of scam accusations and can provide an overview for the careful investor to educate him or herself on specific projects and/or the topic in general.

Nobody mentioned onecoin?
I guess it does not even count as an altcoin, but it is a huge obvious scam.

If you don't have sole and complete control over the private keys, you don't have any bitcoin!  Signature campaigns are OK, zero tolorance for spam!

BRAZEN = dash - proven many times over and over.

Show me a larger + more proven alt coin scam.

I don't know why the OP even started this thread. He was here the other days claiming dash was not a scam at all. I have no idea what scam means to him since he seems very confused as to what constitutes a scam.

nouninformal
1.
a dishonest scheme; a fraud.

Like proclaiming fair POW launch and then captive instamining most of it themselves in the first 2 days on super low diff. Then just keeping it all and reducing the available coins to everyone else. Then making new rules up that you get more of the minting just for having most of the coins and make all the decisions.

DASH is the most brazen since they scam then magnify the scam then solidify the scam loot.

URO ... so many fanboys went deaf dumb and blind to obvious facts ... Aurora launch prices $25, PayCon $20, Asia coin hidden premine, every angle has been hustled at least once.
