How will shipping be handled when we finalized the shipping address and chips arrived?
I mean paying for shipping etc.?

Since I have no information on how the chips are declared and therefore do not know what additional costs (VAT, customs, handling, etc.) to expect, I'll ship first and ask for payment later.

For reference, prices for sending parcels through SwissPost are listed here (rate: 1CHF ~ 1.07USD). I'll try to lower those costs by sending from EU, otherwise the prices listed there for Urgent parcels (handled through TNT global) are the worst case shipping costs to expect.

I am very interested to see how this will turn out regarding additional costs.

Chips.

Got them delivered in the afternoon, too late for immediate re-shipment.

Package contains 4 smaller packages with 3x sealed ESD bag with 2600 chips each + 1x opened ESD bag with 2200 chips.

I was hoping to get them in reels and be able to cut them easily in smaller portions. With the 26x10 QFN48 trays they are delivered in, distribution becomes difficult. I tried hard to get empty reels to split them in smaller chunks, but could not find a distributor for low volumes. Now I'll have to ship them in small ESD bags - like I did with the samples.

It will be a long night for me to re-pack everything for distribution, hopefully ready in the morning to drive to Germany for shipping.

Cheers

@zefir,
and how it ended up with declaring chips? Was there an Invoice of some sort? What about customs?

There is a pro-forma invoice included with a very low price tag. If accepted, there will be no VAT but only custom handling fees to pay.

I'll know for sure when I get the invoice from DHL within a week or so.

Is there someone from Russia? I'm worried about our customs.
Maybe you can advise something to write in custom declaration for 150 chips package?

I would use a cn23 and declare a worth of 0.5$ per chip or so. Thats a value thats realistic to customs. Of course you would pay vat on it. But better than risking problems.

Please ALWAYS contact me through bitcointalk pm before sending someone coins.

Thanks for info, SebastianJu!
What about quantity? Russian customs may think, that 150pcs - is a "for commercial use", and it will be difficult (or very expencive) to make all "papers" for customs.
Did you (or someone)) have expirience sending such quantities to Russia?

That might be a problem. I solved this problem by using a company that imports the chips for me. The company is writing me a bill about the customs fees then.
Cheating at some point isnt a good idea because it can lead to getting sued for tax evasion.

I searched them just for this. And its a german company for importing into germany so it cant be used for russia. But you might ask someone with a business to import it for you.

Please ALWAYS contact me through bitcointalk pm before sending someone coins.

I do not know how is it in the Russia but here we have 2 options.
There is one post office import declaration handled by national post office and thier customs branch what is a lot simpler then standard import declaration what cost a lot more. Here (EU) there is no customs fee on electronic, just need to pay VAT on declared value (some country need Inovice, simple delcared value on cn22 is not enough !)
But even that "complicated" full declaration does not cost much - around 25 eur. Postage sent with DHL, fedex, UPS require this full import declaration and its normal practise that currier handle that for you and bill later recipient. While that simple post import declaration is free and usual with national post service and EMS!
