Ya I'm going to start off at 1.5 amp and work up slowly. Even if its 2 or 2.5 amps I'll be happy. I was trying not to fry the usb hub with 10 2pacs mainly. And ya I don't know where I am on the list but the wait is killing me lol

Same, I bought my stick pretty early but I'm not sure if it's shipped or not. Either way we're pretty much guaranteed a stick and I'll finally be able to test out my new hub. I'm more excited for the BF16 stick and overclocking that but we've got the 2pac for now.

Shoulda thought of that last night when I ordered two 5V wall warts and cables to feed the RasPi's for Avalon's I've picked up...  Roll Eyes

Thanks for letting me know, I can hardly sleep without knowing when my stick shipped Smiley I will definitely let you guys know when I get mine and do some basic overclocking on my motherboard USB 3.0 port.

This is great news, thanks for the update. I just got everything mounted and tested. Everything works great just need my 2pacs Cheesy
I think it turned out pretty good. The power supply was a little smaller than I thought, 30amps so I'm gonna try to run these guys at 2.2-2.4 amps. Very excited now!!  Grin

total cost around 5 bucks for some double sided tape plus stuff i had laying around.

Nice looking setup.

I got my 2Pacs plugged in and running, but not very fast right now, I need more power!
I'll get to it soon, hopefully this weekend.

Damn that's a serious cooling setup... wonder how high you'll be able to clock those sticks like that! Also bought one of your block erupters on eBay for my collection, works nice and well, I'll keep it in my drawer until I can get something to display it.

I had/have a bunch of hard drive coolers, like 100+ i got for a great deal .50 each.  These things are unstoppable. The asic that you bought was run by the power supply, raspberry pi, usb hub, and 3 of those 4 fans non-stop for 2 years with zero issues. Which is why I'm using the same setup with the 2pacs. Hopefully the usb extenders will hold up.

And as far as overclocking ... I hope i can get approx. 300gh out of this guy and have it stay nice and cool  Grin

That is a very nice looking setup you put together there - I hope everything works out after all that work (referencing your concern regarding sending that much current through wire of that gauge)! It looks sound & my bet would be that it will work fine with the 2PAC's! Keep us posted!!

I’ll post an update when I get my 2pacs, no doubt. I think I’ll be fine with the setup. I’m dropping the power from what I originally thought I was going to do.  And since this is a hobby and I’m not in this for a profit. I don’t mind revising my creations. I’ll let you guys know what happens regardless.

nice find! those blank usb sockets look perfect for direct wiring +5v/gnd from an old atx/meanwell /whatever psu with the data/ground wires from an old usb donor cable wired in.

no worries about melting crap 28 gauge usb power wires there.

Those superbpag hubs are not great for high power usb miners.

They'll power em for a while but overheat and commit suicide

whats "high power?"

i ran 5 compacs at just under 2 amps each plus an artic usb fan  for months.

did have the artic fan partially aimed at the hub as well as the sticks.

I killed one with 3 futurebits.

and killed another with 4 du1's.

My "controller" was reporting power surging backwards along the usb 3 line into the computer. so I think it has a design flaw.

Great hub until the bed started smelling funny.

I guess in the defense of superbpag they might not be made to run in a 90-105F ambient room.

That's probably the issue- they dont have the best cooling features with just a copper fin and with so much power running through them something might've malfunctioned in the heat.
