ATM I have only one 2-pac and a Nano fury. I have 3 more 2-pacs coming. My question is ...I am wanting a hub that will run all 5 at the same time. Any suggestions?
Bitcoin mining is now a specialized and very risky industry, just like gold mining. Amateur miners are unlikely to make much money, and may even lose money. Bitcoin is much more than just mining, though!

Yikes! I was going to spend 100 bucks...those look really really good but cant do 200 right now. Any others around 100 or so you might recommend?

Also thank you for answering so fast.

ahhh...thank you...My 2pac is causing cgminer to fail. It gets the message that GSD 0 has failed disabling...It was working great yesterday. Might this be a hub issue although it works fine with the nano fuiry and it has worked with the 2pac in the past.

Downside is those are only 2.0 so you can't do real high ocs with them. That's why I opt for some of the superbpag hubs even though they're not the most durable in the world, I clock my compacs to 300 easily with them.

I wanted 2.0 because I was reading one of sidehack posts sayinng 2.0 was the only way to go since there was no advantage to anything else.   Or did I not get the gist of his post...

No, you got it right. The most common USB3.0 ports and hubs can provide a little more current than 2.0 allows but folks have had issues running sticks directly from 3.0 hubs. Since we don't care about the higher speeds 3.0 can run that leaves main requirement as...

The need to simply use a hub that will supply more 5vdc power such as ones rated for 2.1A and higher charging. Look for BC2.1 as  I recall. They are normally used to power tablets/phablets and the better ones will happily provide more than just 2.1A -- but -- look at how many ports and which ports it can feed that power to at the same time.

My attempt at upping the power to my soon to be arriving 2pacs on the cheap. I'm reusing stuff I already had on hand.  I am waiting on my Block Erupters to sell on eBay to reclaim a 5v 40 amp led "meanwell" power supply. My plan is to use Monoprice usb extenders and some 18GA wire to hook up the power of the meanwell and data of a cheap 10 port hub (also hooked up to the meanwell) I hope to get these guys running at 3 to 3.5 amps per.

I slice the jacket and remove the red and black wire (verifying that they are the +5 and ground on the usb ports) Cut the red wire and cap the side coming from the usb hub. Solder in the new 18GA wire +5 and ground cables. Verify no shorts and wrap the solder joints on opposite sides of the usb cable.

I cut some 3/4 wood dowel and using a saw and 1/2 drill bit made usb "Holders" they are spaced 2" apart to allow cooling.
I plan on attaching these to the board that my power supply is mounted to and using hot glue attaching the usb "holders" to the wood dowel.
And then attaching cooling fans.
Will Post more pictures when I get it completed. Just wanted to throw this out in case it helps others.

Looking forward to updates and pictures of your setup.

I did something very similar to this idea and finally got all my miners mining at once Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy.

I'm not able to find the Superbpag hub to ship to Europe. Sad
The Eyeboot 19-port is too large for me as I won't expand the stick mining farm too much, I'm looking for a smaller powered hub to connect directly to my PC (no RPi will be used).

What are my choices for 3 x 2Pacs (I'll run them at 200 MHz)?

Thanks!

I use that exact same Plugable hub. Not sure if you already saw/applied this but bears repeating if someone does not know about how many charger hubs distribute power per-port(s). https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1779423.msg17921042#msg17921042

Works great but gotta know it's quirks.

One of these days I will take my 2nd one and hard-wire the port power feeds to a single 5V 15A supply but as the old saying goes: The cobblers children have no shoes...
That and at work don't have my usual time for um, other things... For the past week or so really into trying to get a handle on why our $500k laser test bed system's beam is wandering... Not good when trying to hold less than 2µm position tolerances... Narf

I bought my Plugable based on your description of the power distribution. For that, I thank you. I have 3x 2PAC at 175 MHz each on ports 1, 3, and 5. They are humming along happily for a total hash-rate of ~57.5 GH/s.

Dear fellow bitcoin mining enthousiasts,

I've recently bought 4 Gekkoscience 2Pac's. I would like to use them together with the Gekkoscience Compac I already had. So for the moment I'm looking for a suitable powered usb hub that ships to Europe and that is compatible with the laptop ( runs Ubuntu server 16.04 LTS) I use for the bitcoin full node. The laptop is a relative old model (about 5-6 years old) and has only USB2.0 ports.

I've seen a mining setup on this forum that uses a Sipolar A-300. Is this a good hub? I've read comments about this hub that the amps per port are a bit low. Would this hub allow me to overclock the five miners?

An alternative hub I'm considering is the Sipolar A-210 (https://www.alibaba.com/product-detail/Industrial-High-Power-USB-HUB-20ports_60343874449.html?spm=a2700.7724838.0.0.ZsEEgx). This hub should deliver 1A per port. Has anyone of you experience with this hub?

The Plugable 60W hub that has been suggested looks also interesting, however I doubt whether it will be sufficient to power the 5 overclocked miners 24/7.

Or, do you have other suggestions that would allow for overclocking, and are acceptable for my budget (at most 100 euro or about the same in dollars)?

Thank you in advance.

Sincerely
NotFuzzyWarm

That specific hub actually is maxed running just 3 sticks and you MUST make sure each is plugged in so it is 1 stick for each of the 3 regulators in it. Just will not have enough power any other way so more than 3 on it is out of the question.
