The Plugable 60W hub that has been suggested looks also interesting, however I doubt whether it will be sufficient to power the 5 overclocked miners 24/7. That specific hub actually is maxed running just 3 sticks and you MUST make sure each is plugged in so it is 1 stick for each of the 3 regulators in it. Just will not have enough power any other way so more than 3 on it is out of the question. I bet you could run 6x 2PAC if you set the voltage to the lowest value and only run them at 175MHz. You would only pull about 6.2W per compaq which should keep it well below each regulator's maximum and you would still get about 115.2GH/s overall. |

Is this solution something that would work reliably 24/7, or can I expect a lot of interruptions? I'm fairly new to bitcoin mining. I've used in the past an Orico 10 port usb 2.0. But even with only one compaq attached I could not get the speed of that compaq above 12 GH/s. So that was quite disappointing. So now I'm looking for a setup that has been tested before and that is very stable. |

That probably explains why I was only seeing 4.86v on each stick. How hard are you pushing your 2PACs? I was hoping to expand to 6x 2PAC, but since that seems impossible on this hub, I might as well push the ones I have a little harder. |

I can get my hands on the N200 cooling stand for approx. $8, same price as the Arctic but with (theoretical) better cooling performance. The hub I will be using is the Plugable USB 2.0 7-Port Hub, so actually it won't sit on it's side. The sticks - indeed - would be cooled on their side which concerns me from the efficiency point of view. What do you guys think? Thanks. |

I think that laptop idea will not work well in his case : __l___l__ >> hub and sticks ------------- >> cooler I think the hub blocks air flow to the sticks if he lays the hub on the fan and points sticks up wards |

At $8 I think I'll give it a shot and monitor the temps. If it works out then great, if not, I have 30 days to return the stand.   I'll keep you posted, my 3 x 2Pacs should arrive shortly. |

For those trying to mine with 2Pac's and RPi's this 5V 4A hub from Amazon Basics is currently running two 2Pac's (not overclocked) through an RPi3. Hub is USB 2.0 and is the only one I've had success with out of the 4 I own. The ports on the front are higher current so it might even support a third stick but I only have 2 atm. 2) Another question, is it preferable a 3.0 USB hub or a 2.0 USB Hub?

Why would you throw away perfectly good hub? I would just use it for other stuff. You should get a USB 2.0 hub. The results from USB 3.0 hubs are sketchy at best. |
