I got the Plugable 7 port 60 hub powering my RPI along with 3 2pacs running @ 200MHz with a small USB fan, any idea how many kWh I'm looking at?
Well the maximum the hub can supply is 60 watts so running @ full power for 1 hour = 0.060kWh.... aka, 60Wh
Someone flunk simple math? Wink

yes it should do, you could even change the fuse if you wanted to.....for the new 50A boards you can check them out here:

https://www.eyeboot.com/block-erupter-49-port-usb.html

I really appreciate your time and information!  Do you think that the Version 1 Red Boards would safely accept a 50A fuse?

I recently acquired a Block Erupter 49 port USB 2.0 Hub Rev 2.00 (Red board) to use with my 2PAC and Terminus pod that I purchased from sidehack as well as some miscellaneous USB miners.  Finding information about these hubs are more elusive than I imagined.  Does anyone know of a support thread or other resource to post my questions to?

1) Who was the OEM/Primary distributor for these back in the day?  Asicminer? Eyeboot?  Someone else?
2) The unit has what appears to be a 25A automotive style fuse.  Does that mean that is fused for 12V 25A?
3) 25A would only allow 500mA per port with only 500mA extra to handle startup surge.  Does that seem right?
4) Is it likely that the traces would allow more power than 500 mA if the board's total power rating is not exceeded?

More goal is to run more 2PAC and other USB miners as the price is right and I acquire them.  I should have asked what fuse was on the board since I have read about other 49 port Block Erupter hubs having 50 or 70A fuses.  Does it seem likely that I can run a few higher-power usb devices like 2PAC or Moonlanders on this board?

So they were badly made. Pull that fuse and put in a 20 amp. As they tended to melt.

Asicminer built them.  I owned 128 sticks and could run about 40 on three hubs for a total of 120 sticks.

You can pull 1.1 amps on a port if you run about 15 sticks on the hub.

Sifting through all of the garbage out there and finally may have found one or two decent options for a hub. Not sure if klintay has/had anything to do with designing or making these, but he's really the only one I know making USB hubs specifically for mining (like these new ones I just found). The company was once SiPolar (which I'm fairly certain is/was owned by klintay), but seems to be using the name ICONE now. Anyway, both hubs are basically the same, except one is twice the power of the other. Prices listed below are/were the current prices in USD at time of this post, and include any shipping charges..

To be clear klintay has sold eyeboot gear listed below

49 port = well made
19 port usb 2 = well made
19 port usb 3 = well made
10 port usb 3 = well made also named sipolar

Above all good.

Below not good..

Asicminer 49 port not made by klintay as far as I know and not well made.

Hey Phil, what do you think about this hub? I've never seen it before and just now found it on Amazon. It's a 12-port USB 3.0 hub made by "coolgear". You must find your own AC power adapter, with a 3-pin plug, and it's pretty beefy looking. Perhaps it should be for its $114.95 USD price, and keep in mind, you will need to purchase a compatible power supply (unless you're Phil and have one just laying around). Anyway, let me know what you guys think!  Wink

over priced and the ports are too close.

this one

https://www.ebay.com/itm/Sipolar-10-Port-USB-2-0-Powered-Hub-with-power-supply-5V-20-Amp-2A-per-port/352409900554?

10 ports 81 with shipping   so 8.10 a port  comes with psu.

a 250 freq clock  seems to use 11 watts at the wall  so the psu rates for 120 watts x .8 = 96

this means  you can do 8 sticks. Maybe

so far it does 3 sticks 2x newpacs and 1x 2pac perfectly with 2 fans.

I know I can fit  6 sticks with the spacing and 6 sticks should pull 66 watts which a 120 watt brick should handle.

your listing has 12 ports for 112 + a power supply will cost $$  at least 28 or maybe 32

so 12 ports are close to  12 dollars each and they are close to one another  so you need  2x usb to 1 x usb wires.

So far at the current pricing the sipolar looks good.

What we don't know is will it do   more then 3 sticks at 250 freq.  I get a fourth stick tomorrow that will help testing more.

Nice, I have six 2pacs on a kdata 10 port 12V hub running ok. A zombie here and there still. Sipolar has been more consistent though. Waiting for newpacs to arrive here this coming week and hopefully soon the GS hub sidehack has been talking about. I think I drool more at night dreaming about these lately.

I purchased the 120 Watt (2.1A per port) 10-port USB 3.0 hub from Amazon HERE

I also found some inexpensive dual male to single female USB 3.0 'Y' splitter cables for extra power. I currently own one of these same cables, and it seems to transfer more power than a standard USB 2.0 cable of the same kind (so long as you have a USB 3.0 hub).

The hub is already in hand, but I'm waiting on more NewPac sticks to fill it up and run five (5) at once with frequencies of 250-300 Mh/z. I will be sure to post the results with pics in a few days.

EDIT [2018 NOVEMBER 27]: So, I've had this hub for several days now, and I am NOT impressed. In fact, my 60W Plugable 7-Port USB 3.0 hub works better than this (more expensive) USB 2.0 hub. I will very likely be returning the ICONE 120 Watt 10-Port USB 2.0 hub I recently purchased from Amazon, as I'm not getting the power as listed in the item description. Will keep everyone updated if/when I find a better hub for these sticks..

Well this showed up on our site. https://www.minefarmbuy.com/accessories/tripplite-usb-hub

Though I'm really happy with the Gekko Science demo sidehack sent and I heard there's going to be updates to it before release. Thanks again for the nudge to have them let me test btw sh. I guess I did sneak away with all the 2pacs before and this round they just told me to keep the newpac demo's we did our media with. 2% commission only goes so far for these guys. Keep them busy for me. mineon.

What is the spacing of the usb slots like on the Tripplite?

Mainly interested in how many Newpacs it can support?

It looks like it could support 16 @ 300MHz or less with 5v per slot if the spacing is adequate otherwise only 8 if they are too close.

Spacing should be good if they're all facing the same way I'm told. This listed to work on 110; 120; 127; 200; 208; 220; 230; 240 and there is a 230v and 110/120v 32 port version as well in a 2U design. All are 2.4A per port.

USB2 hub, total of 5V 18A provided by three high-efficient 6A regulators powered by 12VDC. Ports are marked by group - 1,2,5; 3,4; 6,7

Accessible 12V pin header on the side for hooking up a 12V cooling fan. Port 1 can also be used to power USB fans with sticks in ports 2-7. This arrangement is optimal since heatsinks would face the rear (cables end) of the hub, with blinky lights visible at the front.

12V power can come from a relatively standard 2.1/5.5mm barrel jack or a PCIe 6-pin.

With this hub and a suitable 12VDC power source and fan it's possible to run six NewPacs at 600MHz each for 800GH total.

Let me know if you want one. Or two. Or a bunch, that'd be cool too.

Cool, quiet and up to 1TH pod miner, on sale now!
Currently in development - 200+GH USB stick; 6TH volt-adjustable S1/3/5 upgrade kit
Server PSU interface boards and cables. USB and small-scale miners. Hardware hosting, advice and odd-jobs. Supporting the home miner community since 2013 - http://www.gekkoscience.com
