World War III ?

I certainly don't think the cold war is war, but I want to remind you that it involved many countries. On the side of America, all NATO countries, and on the side of the Soviet Union all the countries of the Warsaw Pact.

In a short while the cold war 2.0 will start. The chances are bright, especially after the Americans destroyed a Syrian air base almost an hour back. IMO, this will be the composition of the warring sides:

NATO+: USA, EU, Japan, South Korea, GCC, Pakistan, Turkey.etc

Russia/China+: Russia, China, DPRK, Iran, Belarus, South Africa.etc

I read a lot of books and observers that world war 3 will soon occur, even nuclear owners will use it so the world will be destroyed and possibly leaving only no more than 1% of the population.

It's more about economy, resources and global influence.
So, current conflict we can't call World War really.

Well for a war to become a World War it needs to be on a world scale. War in between two or maybe tree or more countries doesn't necessarily need to be World War. And i can't agree with you when you say that Cold War was World War III, because it was only America and USSR, not on world scale don't you agree. You might have forgotten about the theory of limited war. Who told you that the third world war must be nuclear? Wars are now, but nobody uses nuclear weapons. I think that Syria is already a third world war.

Calm down. The Russian army is strong and invincible only in Russian propaganda. It really is a small army with obsolete weapons. Putin understands that he will lose the war so he did not even try to get involved in a military conflict. It's all a bluff.

Even if world war III would start we could not do something about it. We cannot prevent cold war that is happening right now and also if it would really be the root of the new world war III then so be it. All we can do for now is watch the news and see what will happen in the next days and stay safe when the world war III begin and try to survive it until it ends though that would be hard at some point of the world. Let's just hope a miracle will happen so that world war III won't start.

It could be the beginning of friction that is harder and could lead to World War III happens faster. The attack has caused a reaction from Russia, and if you can not overcome, there will be more countries to react. But whatever happens sooner or later the world war III will happen.

The Syrian war is a localized civil war, and the superpowers are not directly involved in it. Off course the Armed forces of Russia and the US are having limited participation in the war, but their involvement is mostly limited to air support and training.

Cold war just means that America and Nato didn't have real war directly with USSR and all the countries of the Warsaw Pact.
But, in Africa and Asia, in the same time, many local wars happened.
Vietnam, Korea, Afghanistan, Iraq, Israel, Egypt etc.
In all this wars, in fact, USSR and America chose sides and gave military and other support.
USSR even invited Afghanistan.
Do you remember great crisis in Cuba, in 1962?
We was very close to the start of nuclear war.
So, we had many local wars as part of cold war conflict between America and Russia.
Fortunately, they was smart enough to avoid direct conflict.

Maybe 50 years ago that would be the way to look at it.

But today you have several percent of people from any given country distributed in other countries, including hostiles.

Today the issue is "issues", not nations. If country "a" wanted to attack country "b" and both had nukes it would be a simple matter to land a nuke, or have one prepared in a location, to cause harm. No need for $50 billion super stealth when fedex or ups can deliver overnight, war can wait 24 hours if you need to nuke a country.

There is a benefit to national puppet struggles, in that it serves as a proxy for individuals, a person identifies with country 'x' etc.

The next nuclear use as a weapon will probably be by a small group with a very good cause, unless governments start cleaning up their acts.

I don't believe that anyone would unleash a nuclear war. The third world war already underway in Syria. Now the bullying intensifies. And will fight on foreign soil in conventional arms.
