Transactions must be included in a block to be properly completed. When you send a transaction, it is broadcast to miners. Miners can then optionally include it in their next blocks. Miners will be more inclined to include your transaction if it has a higher transaction fee.

I googled feathercoin and can't even find any information on it.  How does one even determine the current "market" value?   Or is it not traded on any exchange and just between individuals at this point?  Sorry if these are dumb questions but I honestly don't get it.

It's only being traded between individuals right now. A few people have put together a basic Google doc spreadsheet with manually entered buy and sell orders, which you execute by PM'ing the person and working out a deal that way.

even if one doesnt use that spreadsheet directly, it at least is a guide to the current value if one wanted to buy or sell.

Ok thanks..what is the link to the spreadsheet, if anyone has it handy.

Hi, I mined feathercoin for a few hours soon after it was released and I think I found 7 blocks. At that time, my wallet showed 7 transactions, but only 400 FC as my balance, I looked at the transaction log and only saw two transactions (200 each from mining). I waited a while and oped my wallet more recently and let it update everything but it still didn't do anything. Does anyone know if this is normal for solo mining or am I doing something wrong?
thanks

Orphaned blocks, normal for feathercoin early mining.

Bitnickels have been around for years. Problem is they are lately worth over half a bitcoin each! Cheesy

When BTC is Gold, Litecoin is Silver, Feathercoin should be "bronze to gold".

+1

Man i love feathercoin, so much more fun to solomine vs ltc for the moment.
Gotten 3000FC in 1,5 days.

Good god haha I'm just aiming for 1000 of the buggers, I gotta stop giving them away lol

and just when I think I'll let it run and get that, I look to see the difficulty gone up.

All the clients and source code have been updated to include the new image. There is also a fix for the problem where some clients are unable to find a connect or it takes several hours. Please update your client from the first page.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=178286.0

Can someone explain me more about 0.1 FC transfer fee? When and why do I have to pay it? Where does it go? It can't just vanish, can it?

It goes to the miners.  When a block is found it gets added to the reward for finding that block.  So instead of a 200 FC reward, the miners will get a 200.1.
But there are probably more poeple paying that 0.1, so can miners get like 300 FC? And why is this fee necessary?

One day all the blocks will be found, at that point the incentive for miners, to keep doing what they do, is the transactions fees.

Nice!!

Looks like Feathercoin has been picked up by one of the smaller established exchanges and skipped the propriety exchange step in the life cycle of a cryptocoin.

Good job!!

I am not sure, remember for most of the day the server was offline. When it was brought back up there was some database corruption.

Maybe linked to that.

That is a minor issue and I will get to it as soon as I am convinced the Major fires are put out..  Grin

Has anyone gotten this working with stratum-mining or are all the stratum pools using litecoin-eloipool?

Multipool - Always mine the most profitable coin - Scrypt, X11 or SHA-256!
