We've created a new kind pool for mining FeatherCoin, http://ftc.ub3rl33t.com/ (Stratum)
A new fork of the mmcFE pushpool code with accurate payouts every block
Features:

  • Proportional Payout Per Block
  • Blocks Are rewarded as soon as they are confirmed (100 confirmations)
  • The Block Finder is rewarded 5% of the block's value in addition to his share ratio reward

After running mmcFE fork pools for 2 months, we've found major flaws in its coding.. so much so that we've rewrote the whole thing.
No more wondering why the payouts aren't matching the estimates!  get paid each block right away.

The Lastest Feathercoin client is used.

So people is saying one FTC pool is on a 300MH network and another pool is in a 1800MH network, and the only official announcement made so far to keep the community informed is... Coinotron's own warning message.

Where's the community when their users need it?

Exactly...

There is a new version of FC client out, everyone needs to upgrade.  Apparently the devs didn't feel it was important to post it here.  And the FC forum is down again.

Sorry about that. The new version includes checkpoints that we need the pools to run more than anyone else. There has been a lot of discussion over at the Feathercoin forum about the attacks. I have been kept very busy and I have not had the time I would like to spend on the forums.

I support Feathercoin, I like how the OP spends his efforts promoting the coins rather than make it as a bump and dump type.

It's being attacked again. Looks pretty serious this time. Cryptsy pulled it already.

FTC devs are looking into it. I'm betting on FTC ultimately surviving whatever they throw at it.

The Big Summary - Bitcoin Conference

That was a crazy crazy trip of little sleep, delayed planes and quick meetings.  I'm just waking up, let me start making the overall lessons learned:

1. Most everyone I spoke to heard about Feathercoin (except angel investors / lawyers which is another topic).  This is result of all the great PR pushes for our teams, the press releases going out to mainstream and the FTC community that constant swarms around initiatives.

2. Don't believe the BS that Feathercoin 'tries too hard' as some of our critics like to point out. Please see #1. Those that believe marketing isn't a major part of the success of a coin are wrong. This is not an opinion, this is a fact that reinforced over and over and over at the conference.  This leads me to #3.

3.  "There are other coins besides Bitcoin, Litecoin, PPC, NMC, Primecoin (very few) and Feathercoin?". I heard this so often it became one of the biggest eye openers of the event.  Even those that were familiar with other coins besides Bitcoin/Litecoin didn't rattle off a single competitor. Not one. So all these 'X coin to the moon, Feathercoin is dead' is simply a very small focused community not understanding the bigger picture.  Thankfully I had time to educate on the other  coins...  Phenixcoin and Worldcoin of course. Smiley

4. Please read #3 again. Every time you come across obviously trolling in 'certain' forums, correct it and move on. The impact is ridiculously minimal in Feather's overall success. Your time is better spent commenting on articles, organizing swarms and beating down doors in the mainstream.

5. FTC/USD on CoinMKT (posted the screenshot in a previous thread). This is big... it's another step forward that we can use to attract investors. Yes, I have been in contact before with CoinMKT... however, it was the constant show of support of Feathercoin emails that made all the difference. The guys were joking around how they receive constant 'Please add Feathercoin' emails. Community, this grassroots approach matters.  While it doesn't always look like your efforts pay off... you could be that last email that makes a company say "Hmm.. ok, let's explore a bit more about Feathercoin".

None out of Bitcoin, Litecoin, PPC, NMC, Primecoin are a competitor?

How do you figure that?

Please re-read.

" Even those that were familiar with other coins besides Bitcoin/Litecoin didn't rattle off a single competitor. Not one."

That's simply a comment on exposure to people outside the hardcore communities. I asked about some of the larger 'newer' coins... blank faces. While some don't like our marketing efforts:

1. I don't care, I'm not here to be loved or even liked
2. I only have an obligation to those that have put their time and effort behind Feathercoin
3. It goes to show that some coins might benefit from attending events and educating people on their coins

Just because Bitcointalk users can rattle off x,y,z about each coin doesn't mean others outside this hardcore forum can do the same.  That's all I'm saying from my observations.

I did read. You said no one could rattle off one competitor, yet you also said they rattled off firve competitors, or if you want to not count bitcoin or litecoins, having implied they are actually familiar with those competitors, then you said the rattled off three competitors as well as knew about two others, arguable the leading ones.
