I'm as racist as the next guy about Chinese so-called literature; it's terrible. Complete and utter shit from 1500 BC to the present. Not a sausage.
Curiously though there is one solitary chipolata.
A half decent short story writer called Shen Congwen who iirc wrote nice lyrical tales of nothing much really; working the boats up and down the massive grey river from Wuhan into Chongqing and Sichuan, the porters and river-workers' dormitories and brothels, the pangs of being away from a home you never have. He caught the fun that can be had even in the dirty fogs and sweaty crowded cities. It's a spirited city, and Shen showed that to me at least in a nice restrained way.

... one of the authors of the paper reviewed here is PLA (People's Liberation Army, aka chinese military), so one of two possibilities, he's a renegade speaking truth to power and believes these numbers are correct OR this paper is officially sanctioned info Chinese military wants to get out there to help the world.

Shit just got way worse if these numbers translate to spreads outside of china and that's not certain since asian culture has very crowded conditions and abysmal hygiene standards, (spitting everywhere, uncovered sneezes, hacking, washing hands infrequently, etc)

There is no real evidence to date that Coronavirus is a threat to anyone other than the immune compromised (which are under threat from everything).  

On that basis I am not that fussed.  


In 2017, there were 250,000 cases and 2,000 deaths from influenza in Australia.  So Coronavirus has some work to do to catch up to that.

2019-nCov was reported to share the same receptor, Angiotensin-converting enzyme 2 (ACE2), with SARS-Cov.

In addition, the distribution of ACE2 is also more widespread in male donors than females: at least 5 different types of cells in male lung express this receptor, while only 2~4 types of cells in female lung express the receptor. This result is highly consistent with the epidemic investigation showing that most of the confirmed 2019-nCov infected patients were men (30 vs. 11, by Jan 2, 2020).

We also noticed that the only Asian donor (male) has a much higher ACE2-expressing cell ratio than white and African American donors (2.50% vs. 0.47% of all cells). This might explain the observation that the new Coronavirus pandemic and previous SARS-Cov pandemic are concentrated in the Asian area.

So, chances to avoid it (from the paper) are better (so far) for White/African American females, then White/AA males, then Asian females, then Asian males.

btc actually outperformed most other cryptos.
People were talking about bargains before. It does not feel like buying at the moment.

The most exciting January since 2014 and a good start in 2020. DCAing still feels comfortable.

However, as some of you gentlemen already pointed out, its nothing like the good old days. I remember times when you came home after work, turned on the GPU Miner for a few hours and of course shut it down before your HODLsleep because of the electricity bill. After this the FPGAs ran 24/7 and you electricitybill went down. The ASICs got a bit boring, too stable for my liking and even the brother-in-law's grandmother had one. Back to the present day... you invest what you can afford by simply buying the corn. Times are changing, as the amount of corn you can accumulate during a specific time frame. Just checked my books and it looks like three days of casual GPU mining are now equal to one month of slavery. Note to myself: when you have to work one year for the same amount, take a longer break from slavery.

At least we are learning some German culture in all of this, so there is that.... little side benefit.

No offense, but this sentence is based on so many misconceptions, I don't know where to start. Would be a topic for a separate thread.

For an attempt at clarification, I was NOT at all striving to be disrespectful to German culture or to really say anything about German culture at all except to facetiously respond to what I considered to be the various nonsensical points that Gyrsur was increasingly excitedly spouting about.  

Maybe I should have placed a #nohomo tag in there somewhere in order to indicate that my comments were NOT intended as any kind of literally serious assertion about substance?

I appreciate your answer very much and was unfortunately not able to answer in a timely manner due to a lack of... time. Since the subject is already history, just to clarify, Gyrsur had one or two interesting points, which he might have articulated a bit puzzling and rude. Like the charts, German culture also seems to be changing. To be able to discuss this, it would be necessary to define what German culture was or is. Anyway, as a German, I don't attach much importance to this controversial "culture" topic, try to respect the past, live in the present and hope for the future. It is much more revealing to provide the monthly update than to discuss cultural mental states. We are Satoshi.
