Yep. When you can print infinite amounts of money then you can keep doing this till people have no faith in your "money". That seems to take awhile, however I wonder if it will collide with the political reality unfolding these days. Will be interesting to watch.

Will collide with oil becoming a less crucial part of running ones economy. Countries don't keep reserve currencies to ensure there economy has an ample supply of MS Office licenses.

Edit:  to be fair, the table Roger tweeted compares corona deaths at a fairly early stage of this epidemic versus other death causes that have been going on for many years (forever, some of them), and have stabilised.  In other words, possibly corona could deaths could ramp up until they overtake other death causes in the table.  This is just to show that I'm fair-minded enough to see all sides of the question.
Nevertheless, in principle I think that a lot of what you see is panic and people engaging in something like virtue signaling, for lack of a better way to describe it.  Everybody has to scream noble-sounding things.
Don't scream anything, stop the group-think, step back and reboot the old critical faculties.  Atrophied critical faculties.  And exercise them.  It takes some effort to just chill like that when the urge is to go full Chicken Little.

I’m all for freedom of speech. They’re free to go anywhere else on the inter-webs and make a forum dedicated to just shit coins. They don’t need to be here benefiting from the traffic of the oldest bitcoin forum in existence. The only way I can see this continuing is if the only reason for this forum is profit. Then we literally don’t care what they promote as long as it makes the forum money.

I get your point and disappointment, but imo for this to work, they need to be here as well.

I'm all in for taking care of our planet, as much as ourselves, but really?

Let's scare and lock most of them inside, whilst the planet breaths for a second, so we few - that control things - can have a blast of a time fucking it up ourselves.

Those statistics are already outdated and are assuming that China has been completely transparent about their statistics regarding this matter. I don't trust China's level of transparency. I suspect that they only release numbers that make them look as good as possible.

Then you also have to disregart Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan, S. Korea, Japan,  Myanmar*, Mongolia*, Vietnam*, Laos*, Kyrgyzstan*, Tajikistan*, Bhutan*, Nepal*...........

The real question is, what would the numbers be if there were no lock downs, no quarantines and no changes in anyone's daily life. Maybe we'll have a country in Africa or somewhere that doesn't do anything and we'll be able to see if all of the "panic" was worth it.
