At least if Brazil legalizes guns we can start seriously considering it as a seastead destination.

The Atlantic Ocean off of Brazil is a vast open area with no hurricanes and low waves.

We have not considered it due to the crime.

those composite 3d printed seastead mock ups of yours dont look very protective when the ordinance starts flying.

hide in the steel spar? how to return fire? remote turrets?

see: waterworld for an (extreme and somewhat satiric) example.

perhaps im being punked on this though.

I like your optimism!

We're all on that train, but I'd like to think that we may need a more powerful vehicle to reach our destination. Like this, perhaps:

"oscillating difficulty adjustment" my Aunt Fanny. These leeches from bcash lol and soi disant bsv piggy-back on our security system - the mining network that was so carefully designed by satoshi.

As we mentioned, to run a sane business, you need to plan it out in some denomination of yearly (4 is good) cycles of investment and then profit.

These alts have second rate devs and third rate shills with no understanding of the great gift that satoshi sweated to produce; not the economics, not the game theory, not the incentive model.

The best devs gravitate to bitcoin, and do not muck about with such things, because it works just fine. Their prolific offerings of tweaks and layer 2 solutions are extremely carefully considered, and well worth the experiment. But they are optional and everyone concedes still in the reckless phase. You can indeed be a sovereign with an older version, but not with any of these ill-thought-out centrally-controlled muddles called bsv and bch.

The best supporters it hardly needs to be said can be found here and hereabouts, and it is an honour to observe with you.

If he learns anything from last time, I hope its that at some point they will definitely be attacked. It even happened to the original mother of all seasteads:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Principality_of_Sealand
Quote
Since 1967, the decommissioned HM Fort Roughs has been occupied by family and associates of Paddy Roy Bates, who claim that it is an independent sovereign state.
...
In August 1978, Alexander Achenbach, who describes himself as the Prime Minister of Sealand, hired several German and Dutch mercenaries to lead an attack on Sealand while Bates and his wife were in England. Achenbach had disagreed with Bates over plans to turn Sealand into a luxury hotel and casino with fellow German and Dutch businessmen. They stormed the platform with speedboats, Jet Skis and helicopters, and took Bates's son Michael hostage. Michael was able to retake Sealand and capture Achenbach and the mercenaries using weapons stashed on the platform. Achenbach, a German lawyer who held a Sealand passport, was charged with treason against Sealand and was held unless he paid DM 75,000 (more than US$35,000 or £23,000). Germany then sent a diplomat from its London embassy to Sealand to negotiate for Achenbach's release. Roy Bates relented after several weeks of negotiations and subsequently claimed that the diplomat's visit constituted de facto recognition of Sealand by Germany.

You are one of the dysgenic people. None of that shit matters, even if it was true. The only thing that matters is, is the state going to kill a large part of the population? That's what communists do. And they can only do it to a disarmed population.

Try harder, Ibian. Get me upset!
You really think everything is just black or white? right or wrong? good or bad?
How old are you, seriously?!

If by dysgenic he means you are stupid (and therefore he is 'obviously right') then:

1. He is stupid.

2. He is probably banging on about eugenics again (you know - kill off the poor, the stupid, anyone who disagrees with him...  etc.).  Essentially, he is a totalitarian.  Just the sort it is wise to hope never gain positions of responsibility over others.

3. He is also proving his own lack of intelligent thought in asserting that communism is the only political system to fear.  Both political 'poles' are wont to oppress and murder their own.  Today, corrupt authoritarianism is patently more likely today to come from capitalist governments heading to the right, who seek to overthrow any semblance of democracy as it is inconvenient when they seek more power over their people. Examples of a lurch to the right are evident in far more places than a lurch to communism.  That he thinks Brazil is a more promising place to live in than his current locale - which is in the 'communist' states of Scandinavia; states with populations often reported as living the happiest lives and having best living standards on the planet in numerous surveys - is... interesting.  As for 'only communists', he seems to forget right wing European states have been known to have a pretty good go at both eugenics and mass murder.

4. He probably suffers from extreme narcissism, he strikes me as someone who even if everyone on the planet disagreed with him and had objective proof he was wrong, he would hold to his creed and never change it, believing them to be the stupid ones. Evidence is useless to him if it conflicts with his own beliefs, and evidence is not necessary to have in order to reinforce them.

I have him on ignore. I don't hate him... it's just those who lack self-doubt also tend to lack the sentience to be worth arguing with, so I won't.

'None of that shit matters, even if it was true' seems to sum it up: QED.

To summarize:

Shitcoin devs / fork devs: Butt hurt that Satoshi basically got it right the first time, BitcoinTM works as intended and doesn't need any redesign to be the only digital money that the world needs.

Also shitcoin devs / fork devs: Can't get rich off their shitcoin work because no one cares.

snip

Thanks Paashaas, very informative.

how's everyone... I had to take a long time off. I moved everywhere until I could (thanks covid19).
Now I'm based in Europe ( Roll Eyes) again.
Probably will be more active here, don't know.

 Cool

Ah there you are. Welcome back - again!
We're just about ok thanks. A bit subdued because of price, disease and (forgot what i meant to say). Some really nasty trolls have gone, a few up and coming ones but weaksauce. One guy sold his coins can you imagine? Some great newer guys from all over. Disagreements about how to tackle the virus and about whether the next bull run will stop at 21k or 210.
Great to get some travelling in before that all changed.

edit: people on either side of the debate saying oh it's here now with this that you find out *insert disagreers' name* is an idiot, but they forget we are all going on very little evidence, it's all new, and everyone's stressed again in a new set of ways

Interesting problem for a seastead. Part of the reason why I think .50 caliber weapons and heavy machine guns (M1919 and above, stuff like that) should be completely legal. In this case a pair of M2's would go a long way toward protecting a seastead from pirates without being something I'd have to worry about showing up at the local shopping mall.

And then Z can't spend them because according to the blockchain he never received them. Am I overlooking something or is it a stupid idea?

Bitcoin, Gold are Not Rising Because of Major Market Manipulation

Quote
Researchers at the University of Sussex Business School’s CryptoMarketRisk project team tracked trades across the safe-haven markets since March 2020. The analysis led them to spot large sell orders on gold futures, a literal pump-and-dump on copper futures, and large spoofing orders on bitcoin derivative exchanges.

Whales playing with weak hands again. Those poor little mice caught in the daily dump traps are losing, losing, aaaand losing again. Cul loss after cut loss, they can't see the forest because of the tree in front of their eyes. Even if they rebuy with the next pump, they will definitely sell with a loss at the dump that follows. But as the founder of the HODL said once: guess who the whales won't trick? The hodlers, because they are already in when the pump starts.  Grin And the pump is coming soon and it will be vicious. One of the most glorious in the history of Bitcoin. To da moon!
