last week I suggested my friend to diversify, then I stumbled this ... I think I should meet him again to talk about the last thing I don't know man. I'm pretty sure that's JimboToronto wheeling around his private lake on his solar powered e-bike that he empowered himself to buy with his foresight to invest early and often in Bitcoin. Truth. There are some books, for which a cover judgement is an error. We all express our desires differently based on so many factors. Me? I seem to collect stainless steel washers, and hardware wallets. While on that topic? It's interesting. I am a maxi-antimaxi. So one I have not bought is a Coldacard. There is this recent bitcoin maxi "pleb" meme going around twitter. So, here's the irony. I am: -keto unto carnivore nearly (but not... I eat veggies, mostly green ones) -believe strongly that the family is important and currently under attack -am NOT a 'gun nut' but have an AR15 2 feet from my left hand right now. Locked and loaded. Enter my space uninvited at your ULTIMATE peril. I will make it quick (and it will 100% not be the AR15 that does it, lol). -do NOT own a coldcard, but may someday. Have 5 other hardware wallets lol. -think The Bitcoin Standard is a masterwork, even if Saif is often annoying. -am a Christian, but REJECT WITH ALL MY SOUL all "bitcoin as religion" garbage. I have no idea what a "bitcoin pleb" is. Think 6.15 is both juvenile, and not enough, really. I respect people's decision to SELL THEIR BITCOIN when they want to. Like BitcoinTINA, or our own LFC (yes I know they both did not sell it all, not nearly, i'd guess in the latter case). AND I recognize that folk's reasons to do so are both valid, and their choice. I think 'lambos' are a stupid waste of money. But also see my last point! If you want one, then GO FOR IT! I will drive my current truck until they make diesel so expensive I can no longer afford it (so mid 2023?). So the entire reason I do NOT buy a Coldcard? Because it is the HW wallet (signing device really, please) of childish maximalists. Silly right? I agree. Ironically my fav HW wallet (for UI/form reasons) is the keep key. It was a Trezor fork, and is just a lovely little piece of hardware with a nice UI, but was subverted by Shape shit... oh well. Though I also like Jade quite a bit. Maybe SOMEDAY I will get a Coldcard. That meme above? Some very prominent bitcoiners pushed back on it... for example Wladimir van der Laan, bitcoin's last lead maintainer who actually wrapped up his time in that position in part BECAUSE of stupid maxis... (yeah totally a not so subtle-brag. Nick Szabo ALSO follows me!) In my opinion the "maxis" have a mixed effect on Bitcoin. They make it seem childish sometimes... exclusive, a club for boys mostly, and girls who thirst-trap for them (please see the post RIGHT ABOVE this one!!!). People who think El Salvador is now unconquerable, and assume anything Michael Saylor does is godly. But then again, Bitcoin does not give a single fuck. So why do I? Maybe I will go order a Coldcard and a few Opendimes right this moment... (But I am drawing the line at the stupid overpriced blockclock)

Unlike traditional banking where clients have only a few account numbers, with Bitcoin people can create an unlimited number of accounts (addresses). This can be used to easily track payments, and it improves anonymity.

Ouch! Sorry to hear that, OOM. I felt my heart almost missed a beat while reading your story. I can relate, as I also own expensive gear—fortunately no serious accidents so far. Can only remember the sensors getting dusty on windy days in the field, the glass getting smudged, etc., nothing worse than that. Bitcoin can surely get you back to speed (and better), but maybe not just yet, or you could soon end up owning the most expensive photo gear in the world. HoDL on if you can, let the corn grow a bit more before you take the plunge. Don't think about it too much (if you can). No one got hurt, and that's the important thing. The rest is replaceable.

El Duderino gives merit to whom he wants nobody's business
#LongLiveHaikuSunday So, that said, here come some bad news: There will be no more astrophotography pics from me posted here within the next few months (at least). My youngest one powerslided into the tripod today. I was directly looking at the scene, when i saw the scope with camera and everything mounted tipping over like in slow motion. The only thing that wasn't slomo was the hit on the floor. I am glad that nobody got hurt, though. 8 Kilograms of metal and glass would hurt a child's body in a pretty ugly way. It was also partially my fault, because i had the tripod feet extended, it would probably not have tipped over if i had it set much lower. It was prepared for the next clear night, which seems to almost never come, lately. Also, the whole setup was built for smaller loads than what i had mounted (EDIT: ...and therefore very top heavy). The result: Refractor focusing tube damaged beyond repair, focuser damaged beyond repair, Astro-DSLR bayonet mount tilted, polar wedge bent, tracking mount gets caught on several positions, on both axes when turning by hand in unlocked position. The tripod, field flattener and lens heating survived. I still don't know how to handle this event emotionally, seems like i will repress thinking about it and find a solution when i'm emotionally over it. It's unlikely that i take some Sats off my stash at these price levels, otherwise i would be filling a nice online shopping cart right now, instead of typing this post... Shit happens. The consequence is that i will aim for a heavier, sturdy tipod/mount combination. I can mount bigger scopes onto such one, it would be tracking more accurately and if someone runs into it, he will suffer more than the equipment will. Lesson learned Almost halfway there after 16 hours!! 99 confirmations! Woop woop!
But, but... CSW said $BSV is much faster than Bitcoin!!! Oh. No. NO. no. So many sorrys fill my soul for this one. Not the least of which is the fact I will not see your photos for some time. But it is what it is. And it is just stuff right? And a moment to extend grace to your youngin, who, even if they are not showing it probably feels pretty bad about this.

Yeah, the good thing is, i can forget, even if i don't always want to... Thanks for the supportive and kind words, highly appreciated. I had to laugh on "most expensive photo equipment in the world" - but it's 100% true. I hodled for some years now, got a small amount planned for cashing out, but we are about 5x from my personal "cashout-price". I'm better off saving some money in the next couple of months and shoot some used gear in decent condition. Oh. No. NO. no.
So many sorrys fill my soul for this one. Not the least of which is the fact I will not see your photos for some time. But it is what it is. And it is just stuff right? And a moment to extend grace to your youngin, who, even if they are not showing it probably feels pretty bad about this.
Honestly, it felt weird actually not shouting at him, but my inner self just collapsed in sync with the fall. Poor little fellow just left to his room, shocked and ashamed, while i picked up the pieces. He came out later again, and he was terribly sorry. I can't be rude to a kid acting like this. As you said, it's just stuff. What was depressing me way more than the loss was that i seemed to fail in raising my kids at some point, because i'm telling them since elementary school to not run inside the house. I told them a thousand times that they are free to run and shout outside as much as they like, or in case of emergency, but this is one thing i could not establish at home despite high effort. That feeling of parental failing, i guess most parents participating in WO know it too. EDIT: So, ChartBuddy, we no more go the moon, we want to go to the stars now, right? EDIT2: Soaked some leftovers from the vaporizer in Canadian Gin for five days, which i forgot about until today. Now it's time for filtering and testing, this should be an evening to remember. Will likely not be able to write much meaningful soonish, so wish y'all a good night

While on that topic? It's interesting. I am a maxi-antimaxi. So one I have not bought is a Coldacard. There is this recent bitcoin maxi "pleb" meme going around twitter. As with any framework, there are going to be variations in the levels of adherents and the extent to which anyone might follow some of the ideas and deviate or reject other ideas. I would surmise that the vast majority of so-called bitcoin maximalists would not necessarily accept being categorized and sure some of the ideas are more likely to carry over time and other ideas will not.. I would imagine in the future, the vast majority of people are going to end up fitting into the bitcoin maximalist category (as it evolves) whether they agree to it or not and whether any of the ideas of bitcoin maximalism continue to exist beyond the sound money components of Gresham's law.. that we are likely all going to end up gravitating into it.. So maybe it takes 50 to 100 years or longer for the majority of folks to be buying into bitcoin as the soundest of moneys... and maybe even adopting various other ideas that relate to current ideas of bitcoin maximalism and sound practices... but the assignment of some values as universals as if they might be sound practices may not stand too well - even if some of the ideas might relate to sound money equals desires to gravitate towards other sound practices - and what are those other sound practices may well evolve over time. whether it is the cold card now or other ideas of sound practices.. or maybe some other device that starts to seem to be the most sound of the practices (from a sound money perspective, to a sound practices perspective).. I have no idea what a "bitcoin pleb" is.
Maybe plebs and normies are similar concepts.. It's like ordinary people who might just be getting started with bitcoin.. a regular pleb versus a bitcoin pleb would be that a bitcoin pleb has just learned about bitcoin and is here to get involved in it (not here to fix it, as they other expression goes regarding the arrogant newbie). For sure, no one likes values being imposed on them, so they adopt values, but if someone is new to bitcoin there might be some common traits.. but then there are some common traits of the "everyman" too.. even though very few people would want to consider themselves as an "everyman" there still might be some common traits that each person shares with the "everyman." Think 6.15 is both juvenile, and not enough, really.
I recognize that you are merely touching upon some of these various bitcoin maxi ideas, so I should not be blaming your for your own tendencies..and surely, we likely realize that the idea of 6.125 BTC (I will use 6.125 rather than 6.15 as my reference) is coming from one bitcoiner (I believe AmericanHODL) who started to propagate such idea a few years ago - but it is still a big so what, just like I had been propagating the idea that I have more than 0.63 BTC starting more than a year ago.. but my propagation did not take off - even though I did not consider it having any connection with the other target propagation. Some things are somewhat contagious in the space, and maybe there is some coincidentalisms but at the same time some subconciousness in adopting various kinds of ideas and in this case target BTC accumulation numbers that would ultimately expect to be tailored to individual personal circumstances... at least should be tailored to personal circumstances. For sure, 6.125 BTC would be way too large for the very beginner bitcoiner, and may even be too high for someone who has gotten into bitcoin after September 2020 - even though getting to 6.125 BTC would have been quite a bit easier as a lump sum investment right around September 2020 (at $10k) versus having had been involved in ongoing BTC accumulation after September 2020 and still 6.125 BTC might remain somewhat difficult to reach - even with such ongoing BTC accumulation that is going beyond 2 years now for peeps, plebs and/or normies in that kind of a current BTC accumulation situation. For sure (or by definition), anyone getting into BTC in mid-2018 or around that kind of a time frame and continuing to accumulate BTC in late 2018, 2019 and most of 2020 - and even into present times may well would have decent chances of being able to both reach and exceed supra 6.125 BTC accumulation levels.. even if we might be averaging BTC prices in the $8k range rather than supra $10k or even rather than supra $20k which would have largely been the BTC accumulation prices after October/November 2020 (absent today's prices having quite extended times below $20k for the past 3 months or so - while supplies (and these prices) last. If we start to consider the circumstances of folks who got into bitcoin on and around the late 2017 forkening wars or earlier, then those guys should have had way easier times getting up to 6.125 BTC.. (thinking about BTC prices quite below $4k for most of that time... and really way below and even the longer into BTC, such as going back to 2015, 2013 or even 2011 (like uie-pooie), then surely it seems quite likely that any of us with even half a sense of seriousness in regards to bitcoin, should have been well able to quite exceed 6.125 BTC by multiples - absent really major mistakes in which some of us may well have suffered - so in some of those senses, even the bitcoiners coming into bitcoin prior to 2016, should have had pretty good odds of being able to stack quite a bit higher than 6.125 BTC - even if making quite a few mistakes.. and surely some of us are dumbies too and some of us are whimpy too.. and even some of the whimpies stuck with 20 BTC as their target.. hahahahaha.. I cannot help my lil selfie.. nohomo. Maybe I have adequately addressed this 6.125 matter.. .. and surely so many of us will realize that the more that we have the easier and more options that we likely have, but each of us still likely realize that we have to be careful NOT to get too many BTC that ends up causing us inabilities to really meaningful to be able to hang onto such BTC that we have accumulated because we failed/refused to adequately acknowledge that dollars still exist.. and that if we want to pay for things, even emergencies, many of our current expenses are going to be calculated in dollars, and even if we can pay in bitcoin, if we have not hung onto enough dollars in these times of decently high BTC volatility, then we are likely going to end up paying with way more BTC than we would wish to depart with because we had failed/refused to adequately prepare our lil selfies.

The market is still deciding. We may first go slightly up and then sharply down. Short trades have accumulated and I'm expecting a fake rise to the upside to blow them up. Then a sharp decline towards $17,500 is possible. I expect this to happen, let's see what happens. Other cryptocurrencies started to be crushed by uncertainty, especially ethereum.

I think he might be very lonely. Sometimes I see him late at night, just posting and posting. Almost nobody ever replies. But he keeps going in the hope someone might notice him. Sadly, there are no old age homes for polar bears. Maybe Greenpeace can get on that instead of Bitcoin's energy usage. I was trying to highlight the barren-wasteland background. Not sure if anyone remembers where polar bears are supposed to live but its not supposed to be a desert dried out from man-made climate change. (although maybe someone set him lose in a foreign habitat for shits and giggles? ) But the best place for an old bear to die is in his icy habitat. At least he will die happy... 1.7 million years. Thats how long the (newest) polar ice caps have been around. Then came the Industrial Revolution. ~200 years later, here we are. The fact that there are people who still think the ancient Arctic sea ice melting at a rate of ~13% per decade is somehow a natural event is sad. Now the ice is going to melt before 2100 regardless of how hard we cut back on emissions. But whatever, fuck it. I loved Waterworld. The temperature on Antartica has gone down by 0,22 C for the last three decades, the sea is not raising more than it usually does and has been doing since measurments started, according to University of Lund, The climate of Scandinavia was about two degrees c hotter during the stone and bronze ages than it is now, there was pelicans in southern Sweden, and about one degree hotter during the viking age, we are not in "burning up" mode, we are freezing compared to the first 8000 years or so after the ice receded. And so on, reality is not playing ball I'm afraid. Edit: were pelicans? I'm always unsure about was/were. Can you show me some sources? Here's mine: https://climate.nasa.gov/vital-signs/arctic-sea-ice/Edit: Even if the Artic temp did go down by 0.22 C° in the last three decades, the artic ice will be soon gone and nobody can deny that. We have passed the acceptable temperature a long time ago. No, I cant because I don't remember where I read it, but it was a credible source. What nobody has ever explained is how a temperature that is one to two degrees over the "baseline" is "passed the acceptable temperature" If anything we need to get two degrees warmer to get back to stone/bronze age temperatures. Im not denying that glaciers are melting, I'm saying they always have, and then come back again in cooler temperatures.
