...Recently we were visiting London.  I had read somewhere that the UK authorities had banned BTC ATMs because, well, reasons.  coinatmradar.com did (and still does) show some +/- 10 such BTMs in greater London.  So, being the sort I am (I did not want to hang around my wife and her friend doing boring tourist stuff) went to check one out.

Well, it turns out that I found one that would sell me BTC without asking for ID or even an SMS by cellphone.  Just put your money in, and get BTC out.  Worked just fine.

BTM located in a market with an ethnic name close to the Angel subway station ("Northern Line").

When I travel to other countries, I like to buy BTC as a souvenir, smile.  It also gets me to visit places I otherwise would likely not visit.

hahahaha

Funny how you characterize Mrs. OROBTC and her friend doing "boring tourist stuff," while nerdy uie-poie have your own OROBTC version of "nerdy tourist stuff."

What's so funny about that?   Tongue  Would you rather go to some museum or the Freddy Mercury Walking Tour instead?  Buying Souvenir BTC in other countries is another one of those "Buy and Save in the Same Transaction" things I really like.

OTOH, I was unable to buy a Platinum Philharmonic (platinum bullion coin from Austria) in London!  Such a big city, such a banking powerhouse...  I went everywhere I could over the city (even their gold & diamond district, another thing I like to do when touristing interesting places overseas) looking for one.  Still, I did not leave empty-handed, so there's that.

.....
.....

People make money in all kinds of ways.. including figuring out ways to stack sats..  .. it is not really on topic here to suggest that there might be some good things about sh...<snipped>

To be clear, I accumulate my BTC via weekly DCA.
My shitcoinery daze (and mining) are long since done.
I still do dabble in, and enjoy the occasional fart joke however.
Nuff said.

HI-TEC99, hey I can't remember, what with calculating USD:GBP:BTC, yeesh.  I was just happy the BTM took my money and gave me the BTC OK.  The no ID part made me feel better.

Machine did not accept the one GBP 50 I inserted, GBP 20 were the only banknotes I put in.

There is an interesting news on Binance that a dormant bitcoin wallet for 10.2 years has gone active on 8 Jun 2023 and transferred all its bitcoin (1432 bitcoins) to new address.
The coins were initially received on April 9, 2013 when price of bitcoin was just 195$, the gain is 13,400%.
There are still people (whales) who still hodling Bitcoin for 10 years or its because someone got access to lost wallet/bitcoin?

....

if the SEC forces shitcoin scams to register and disclose all of their actions and holdings, that's fine with me..
would love to see how mETH dealer Vitalik discloses what a centralized staking garbage he is peddling

Well, all I can say is Vitaik's meth creation allowed me to "mine" bitcoin profitably with ancient GPU cards for quite a few years.
I played the game, I made the gain.
When it went to that staking thing nonsense, I finally put my mining gig to bed.
Yeah, 9 years of "DCA" mining various <redacted> was fun stuff.  <batslappening.img>
Especially the first year, when I actually mined the real McCoy, King Daddy with 2 used S4's.
That chunk of change was converted to my new garage.

Both are likely when old addresses move.

I have two stuck coins I have been trying to free since 2016.

Bitcoin is holding up pretty well in comparison to the altcoin market. Even altcoin darlings like MATIC are getting hammered hard. Bitcoin and Ethereum seem to be the safe havens the market is running to, but even they have seen declines. As I’ve said before, I think the current price represents an attractive risk/reward scenario for investors.
the way the market is going right now bitcoin is the safest place anyone should consider.  I can't take that away to reason any other coin than bitcoin, even with the ups and down I so much believe in Bitcoin. I prefer the price of bitcoin, I know it will rise more  than this very soon.

I know it's probably just me, but whenever this here famous thread goes on topic, it becomes a little dull...well that is of course unless Jay posts a 10 page essay with lots of youie-pooies and berates everyone in here.
