Congrats to India,   important point advance for what will be the biggest democracy and country overall not too far in the future.  I hope they can advance people on the bottom rung of the ladder equally as well not just the top, thats real strength.

BTC under weekly average, contained.  Nothing doing for now.

India is made up of 35 states, of course everything is possible if India wants to.
India's President Modi has not shown much interest in cryptocurrencies. 
He is interested in discussing issues other than BTC with the people of his country. 
Governments like the small country of El Salvador have heavily favored Bitcoin, but not the President of India. 
Living without Bitcoin, and the people of India is like living with sharks in the ocean.

There is a simple way to deter merit farmers from spamming WO: just stop giving them merits and stop responding to their posts. They will eventually go away.

I'd rather see people with less than 100 merits blocked from posting in the WO.

I think that would be a better step rather than disabling the merit system on WO thread. I've also voted "No" only because I don't want the merits to be disabled on this thread. I would go with PowerGlove's idea that the merits should be restricted in a way that only ranked members those who are above Full Member rank should be eligible to receive merits on this thread.

If you disable merits here then they will just go farm their merits elsewhere, and the good posters here will have less incentive to post, therefore decreasing the overall discussion value here.
Another alternative would be add a local rule that posts that are like the ones you mentioned will be deleted and enforce it, as in you have to post something original too in your posts.
