I'm expecting the price to remain around this level for about another week or two. The outcome of the Ross Ulbricht trial might cause a bit of movement, though I'm not sure in which direction.

Not much for news, myself. Don't think it will change the overall direction price will move anyway. I think we may continue to retrace up for the next several days, but overall, we continue down.

Oh god. Just find some goddamn support. I been waiting for months.
The biggest obstacle is time. Still too many people think altcoins may be an answer, so they are holding off on Bitcoin. Ether pumpers got kicked in the teeth by IBM. CPY pumpers got slapped by Overstock. Merge mined parasites don't prove their mettle  Folks gotta realize that Bitcoin is the PoW the heavyweight champ that paid its dues.

What did IBM do/say about Ether? --Not that I own any at all.

I'm all BTC, Monero (XMR) and Counterparty (XCP). I think those 3 will be the most useful coins in the future.

BTC = Open P2P ledger
XMR = True anonymity digital cash
XCP = Smart contracts, digital assets etc (Built on top of bitcoin network)
Opps, I meant XCP, not CPY. Yeah, IBM's Internet of Things may use their own implementation of Ethereum, but they won't be buying Ethers. I presume they will premine their own. Here's the thing, all these open source altcoin developers are doing nothing but making tools for others to profit on. At least Overstock has the decency to hire Counterparty devs to create their own competition so they get something out of their work. XMR is a loooooooong shot.

Now imagine if i had my wallet.dat stored on this piece of trash Flash Voyager. It worked good for some years and then it started to greet me with this message. It's DEAD. Unrecoverable data.

Then... i read about this

https://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/2rz30w/trezor_why_its_absolutely_not_ready_for_mass/cnkq3wi

Then i'm asking myself, where's that dumb pig Fonzie to tell me about how easy is to use bitcoin ? And not even for me, but for the average Joe. Exchange Fail (again, lucky that they got the money to reopen it), Trezor Fail, Memory Stick Fail, Keyloggers, Exploits, and i can go on and on like this for hours.

Now i need some bulls to tell me one reason for why the price should go up and not down in the abyss. One argument, please, because i'm tired of idiots! And after i'm tired of idiots, i'm tired of hypocrites that are acting like virgins in front of a gif (a cgi scene) i posted (they even reported it instead of ignoring me). Just a fucking .gif that didn't hurt nobody. Hypocrites that i'm pretty sure they've watched/played violent movies/games before, where they showed much more realistic effects, many more head removals, bombs, genocide, terrorists and name whatever the fuck you want. But they suffer when they see a complete cgi (horseshit quality) gif.

GTFO!

Price will go up because price will go up. (positive feedback loop)

I'm serious. We're finding a bottom (don't know where or when) and then the tides will turn... with much force.

I know this is not a rational argument in itself and this will only happen in certain circumstances. Wether or not theses circumstances will be met is anyones guess. I'm guessing they will, after we've gone generally sideways for 3 to 15 months is my best guess. But hell: bitcoin is known for its surprises, so who knows.

Oh, and if you're tired of idiots: why not just leave and go somewhere else?

EDIT: I found your gif lame, but not offensive.

If you don't know how to back up your wallet by now you don't deserve any BTC. You GTFO you're the reason we can't have anything nice.

Because fortunately there are only 2-3 idiots that really engaged with full hypocrisy, acting like my gif was a threat to humanity. I like most of the people in here, regardless of their beliefs.

Also this argument "Price will go up because price will go up. (positive feedback loop)" is not enough. It is based purely on hope. I just gave you a list of problems that bitcoin could expose you to. I could give you even more. Don't get me wrong, i fully believe in the technology, but BTC is way overpriced for what it can offer right now.

Ok, sir. Then me and the rest of 6-7 billion people that are living on this planet will not give a shit about bitcoin for many years. Also, you only took one aspect out of what i've wrote. The flash drive is not the only risk. Duh!

Let's cut to the chase, which altcoin do you recommend?  Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy

None especially at the moment, but Paycoin seems interesting, perhaps it will be even more interesting than Neo & Bee.  I had great hopes for Brock Pierce's RealCoin, but I have never heard of it again.  I wonder if Autumn Radtke was working on one.  Perhaps Sergei Mavrodi will launch something, now that he is in the Bitcoin Foundation?

Realcoin became Tether.
You can find all the infos you need here: www.tether.to
It's still in beta now, but it will soon launch.
We as Bitfinex will adopt it and I believe a few other trading platforms will do the same ( Huobi, Okcoin etc.).
Not sure about Bitstamp, but they probably will at the end if adoption goes well......

This is the account i used for bashing shitcoins. I'm here since January-February, but that's not the point.

On my second comment i wrote "Don't get me wrong, i fully believe in the technology, but BTC is way overpriced for what it can offer right now.", so i really don't understand what you are trying to say.

Thanks for the highly researched information. I've just traded all my bitcoin for Paycoin. Looking forward to the interesting ride. Going to get paycoin logo tattooed on my ass now. Hopefully they wont change it again.
Realcoin changed name to tether and it's possible to ask for an invite to the trial right now. However I've waited for it for over a month but still didn't get any.

You should have received an invitation ( I did ).

Make Bitcoin glow with ENIAC

I find them sort of heart-breaking. Bitcoin is a wonder, but makes and breaks men faster than silver

I see bitcoin as a computer technology experiment, that was appropriated by various groups and pushed as something that it was never intended to be, and is nowhere ready to be.

Agreed.

Edit. As a rule I dislike Libertarianism, mostly as it has been co-opted by the right, but I was drawn to Bitcoin for purely political reasons; I think the world needs slightly more liberty than it currently has. Unfortunately as it stands crypto just seems clumsy and liable to hurt anyone who goes near it

Libertarianism is just a slightly confused version of classical liberalism. A democratic society of the people and for the people is fully legitimized to provide services which promotes equality, health and security for its citizens. Even Warren Buffett thinks so:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=irAVaMIvvYY

His idea of a Genie is, of course, not his own. What he is describing is John Rawls' "Veil of Ignorance". The solution in his mind is within what we would call social liberalism, certain vains of christian conservativism and modern social democrats.

Bitcoin has an exciting role in that it is not really hindered by any political ideology except for certain vains of extreme nationalism and extreme socialism. It can work as an internet coupon. It can work as a substitute for, or in addition to a national currency. And in the long term it can replace the dollar as a world currency. History tells us that that status is very temporary. What else could replace the dollar? The Swiss Franc? The renminbi? The Euro? The Rouble? The Rupee? They are certainly not better than the dollar right now, and won't be for the foreseeable future. And they would be hard pressed to offer more than the dollar even if they catch up with it. What is needed is something new. What is needed is a trustless global currency which can't be manipulated or controlled by single governments. A currency that grows into its role rather than is chosen by the community of states in concert. A currency that has a foothold in most or all of the major economies in the world and thus represents the world economy in a very real way.  Bitcoin is not a anarcho-libertarian looney currency. Nor is it a supranational currency. It is a currency for the people as well as the global society of independent states. It is a cosmopolitan currency.
