Well, I only lost 15 bitcoin today...

I had a 5 btc long that got margin called on futures, and lost 10 from taking losses on a long I had open since 286.

Dude, the margin call is nasty as you've seen. Stop playing that game and trading when the vipers are typically on the other end of the game. Just buy and hold with your expendables and wait til the market comes back up instead of setting yourself up to get crunched. My God... Don't be afraid to take a minimal loss but manually sell when things get too underwater for you on your own. This is the double loss playing the trading game on the long or short that all relaxed players should chill on.

Now, you're gonna see the wrath of the trolls. I've seen this play out before and never would open myself up to this unfolding on my face like that. The vast majority of traders (like 66%+) will get nailed, that's why people should just take their stance and let it ride w/ a short stop loss in a mental fashion.

Yeah you're right, I'm all out of margin now. Moving to storage and taking a break for a while, good luck and happy trading everyone

Sorry about your losses, 2 words though, risk management. Never let yourself get margin called.

Luckily it appears there weren't that many people like you going leveraged longs with really tight margins who get called once position moves 15% against you. Hopefully you learned your lessons. Now can we get same people piling up on shorts, love seeing those getting squeezed.

Everyone on okcoin futures will be margin called if the market moves 15% against you. Even at 10x.

Not familiar with okcoin was going by finex. Believe they require 30% to open and 15% to margin call minimum. Honestly I am a perplexed why more didn't close. On one side it's good as they have fatter margins hoping for more mature traders who know what they're doing but on the other side there's still potential of them getting squeezed causing a domino effect

He clearly says he had 5btc margin called on futures.

All it means is there is going to be a huge amount of resistance going back up as these people who have been looking at their negative p/l for days or weeks sell off. The whole rally was built on margin and now we're 50 bucks down with the same amount of margin longs. Put it this way, I'd put a higher weighting on visiting $220's before we see $290's again.

Think it's obvious that leveraged longs will need to be closed thus adding to supply/sell pressure. Just saying that something felt odd when we drop 15% and most longs don't close or in some cases i saw longs going up as price dropped

We hit a nice double bottom, consolidated a bit, then a couple big longs started closing all at once and price just shot up... suddenly we are in the 260s and I fly to the computer to close my short... the orderbooks are so thin on the ask side... I think we all thought it was going to go lower.

-1 bottle of wine but +30 to my stash, put my buy orders a little below market but may have to panic buy in a few hours. Looks as if demand still wants to push up.
