Any Toronto folk can vouch for The Star?

Is it considered a main stream, "real news" type publication? Or is it like the onion?

http://m.thestar.com/#/article/news/canada/2015/03/23/rocco-galati-in-court-to-challenge-how-bank-of-canada-does-business.I

Edit:
http://www.thestar.com/news/canada/2015/03/23/rocco-galati-in-court-to-challenge-how-bank-of-canada-does-business.html

Story sounds too good to be true, hard to believe.

The Star is Toronto's highest circulation daily newspaper, with a slightly left-of-center political viewpoint.

It is very mainstream and basically middle class. It contrasts to the lowbrow extreme right-wing blue-collar Sun, the right-wing white-collar Post and the centrist white-collar/academic Globe and Mail.

I almost forgot to mention the voice of the extreme left-wing, Now which unlike the others is a weekly.

bear crazies are still borrowing my coins  Roll Eyes

i mean you've got to be a bit special to bet against bitcoin (it can only go to 0..realistically not even that low..but its possible.. but it can go how high potentially?) but borrowing coins at these rates (when you can "refinance" by clicking a checkbox and a button to ~0.05%) takes it to a whole other level

This guy is a moron. Wealth doesn't come from nowhere. If the Bank of Canada creates money out of nothing to finance public works (or anything really), that wealth is taken out of the pockets of everyone who saves in Canadian dollars. This is why counterfeiting is illegal. If this guy wins his case, there is a mountain of money to be made shorting the loony.

"That guy" is not a moron. He is a lawyer being paid to file a lawsuit. Apparently the government tried to get the case dismissed twice, and couldn't.

^Even a 12 year old girl knows the current system is a scam.

And if counterfeiting is illegal for our government, why is it ok for private bankers?

Do you even understand the words that are coming out of your mouth you are typing?

You mean just as every time the American Federal Reserve Bank creates money out of nothing to finance the military-industrial complex, that wealth is taken out of the pockets if everyone who saves in US dollars?

At least the Bank of Canada is owned by the Canadian public, not a privileged elite like the owners of the Fed, and the recipients of the funding are engaged in building and maintaining infrastructure designed to educate and provide medical and other essential services to people, rather than killing and imprisoning them.

At least the Bank of Canada is owned by the Canadian public...

You sure?

Quote from: /wiki/Bank_of_Canada
The [Bank of Canada] was founded by the Bank of Canada Act on July 3, 1934, as a privately owned corporation. In 1938, the bank became a Crown corporation, belonging to the monarch in right of Canada. The Minister of Finance holds the entire share capital issued by the bank. "Ultimately, the Bank is owned by the Minister of Finance on behalf of Her Majesty in right of Canada."

De facto same thing. The government is merely a bunch of servants of the Canadian populace, not their bosses. The courts can tell the government to F off any time they wish, and frequently do. Nobody likes insubordinate servants.

As for the monarchy, it has been close to being abolished for decades. Most Canadians see it as a quaint relic from the past. Impotent, not important. No big deal.

Who ain't worried to see some bulls entering the markets and pushing the price up a bit more???
The only thing people don't know here is "a bit" only, they don't know what their goal is and just satisfy themselves thinking it will get towards up a bit more and more, but their greed kills them...
