I don't think market behaviour like this will look too impressive to the SEC pondering ETFs right now. Bitcoin has lifted her skirt to reveal a sloppy pussy, or double dick arrangement, or even BOTH.

I put a hope on the "auto-approval".

agree, approvalprobability should be below 20%. not just because of volatility, but more the inner-conflicts of bitcoin and the always-possible fork situation.

Them doing nothing? No doubt there'll be a vast array of opinions on the subject. I'd say these are the very last applications they'd stick on their pile and forget about.

Yes. But having the Chinese regulate their exchanges cleans that pussy up (to use your retarded analogy).

The chinese exchanges were a systematic risk. It was even mentioned in some of the comments to the SEC that the exchanges could be used to manipulate the price. Clean that up and all of a sudden we have a greater chance of being aproved.

I guess this has changed the timeline a bit and there will be no second wave of fluctuation... We will go directly to our destination faster than anticipated.

And all the January/February financial problems in the "real world" that will hit the fan will probably help to make a quick bounce back. Smiley

Very possible I suppose, but they haven't even started to clean and lord knows what might be uncovered. It would also be a fine demonstration of how the SEC would be green lighting and endorsing something they effectively have zero influence over.

They can save your botty from US stock market shenanigans. There's nothing they can do to stop there from being 17 chains all claiming to be Bitcoin a few months after approval or an even shoddier exchange setup abroad taking the lead.

the thing is chinese exchanges are being fake giants with a much smaller impact on prices as everybody thinks they have. when huobi et others went full moonish and 8888yuan bitstamp didnt move one fart away from 1130$ even as china was 15% higher.

and now we see the opposite china being waay lower than stamp and stamp doesnt give a fuck. i guess we should all learn now that the rulers of bitcoin price arent chinese exchanges but western exchanges. they are just not fully aware of it yet...

I agree that there are "a vast array of opinions on the subject", but will it be just rejected based on "opinions" ? I doubt my friend.

Plus, if they really wanted to reject it, why would they wait for 3-4 years ?

God knows how someone who hodls a huge amount is feeling. I have a reasonable amount and it hurts even though I don't trade or plan to sell anytime soon.

It always feels bad when the price drops exorbitantly, and if you are prudent, in any kind of way, you are not investing more than you can afford to lose... right?

On the other hand, if you are gambling, and investing more than you can afford to lose, then you are going to feel a lot more stress about these kinds of situations that are actually within the realm of expectations.

No JJG. I have invested only what I can afford to lose. It in no way affects my family.

Still a bit of a kick in the balls though.

Dont tell ur wife that u sold ur coins. U would need to hire a humanoid-mutant, only he would be able to assist u with handling excessive anger of hers. My wife died 3 years ago from being struck by my arrow, at least this is what has been written in a certificate of a criminal record. I trade crypto and couldnt be happier man because I know my wife is dead and will not interfere with my financial transactions.

Just sending fiat to an exchange hehe.
If it goes below 500$ I'll buy half a dozen btc. Well, I would buy at this price too, it's just I have to wait fore the prehistoric wire transfer.
Someone knows a way to instantly buy btc? (Not localbitcoins).

https://coinatmradar.com/countries/

Be prepared to comparison-shop. Rates vary considerably. Where I live they range from 1% to over 15%.

Good to see bitcoin back at less than $800, finally, another chance to buy more! Grin

But it's really bad to see that only one country is starting to get the hold of bitcoin, that's not why the bitcoin was made... Roll Eyes

WAR ON CHINA NOW!!

No we should thank them. They are cleaning up their exchanges and at the same time the risk of China baning bitcoin is highly reduced. If you wanted bitcoin to ever succeed this was the best that could happen imo

Care to elaborate please ?

Well, I think the market has been worried of a full ban by China. China making bitcoin illegal or in some other way putting in some kind of ban to reduce capital flight. If the Chinese governement actively seek to control the exchanges in order to make them comply there isn't any reason for them to clamp down further. Yes there will be less capital flight buying but since that was anyhow a zero sum buy/sell it probably won't make a difference. What the Chinese can still do is buy bitcoin as a store of value and that has the potential to drive the price much higher.

Then we had the risk of these rogue exchanges being used to manipulate the price (both up and down) which was bad for volatility and overall trust in btc.

Finally there is the point of the SEC that I mentioned.
