August 1 might be interesting from bitcoin specific viewpoint but I tend to think it may be something of an anti-climax either way it goes. August 21 is the one I have penciled in my diary ... Black Moon Total Eclipse with a Path of Totality that passes over much of the continental USA, I think it goes without saying that many dipshit americans will predictably lose their shit and the usual suspects will over-react, including financial markets. Interestingly, the path of totality passes very close to the Yellowstone Super-volcano that has shown some signs of increased activity lately (with earlier close passes of the moon obstruction?). The massive size of the magma plume that lies beneath Yellowstone maybe large enough to incur tidal force perturbations due to the solar eclipse, significant enough to cause rumblings from the beast within the Earth. And then there is the possibility of anomalous gravitational forces (or torques) at work during Total Solar Eclipses, that have been partially recorded in past experiments but never rigorously verified or comprehensively explained, coming into play ... Allais EffectPopping the cork on a Super-volcano would start a huge party.

You rang? Popping the cork on a Super-volcano would start a huge party.
So I take it you don't live within the 1000 mile blast radius of death then. Won't be a fun time for anyone on earth within 2-3 months though as the smoke and ash completely blots out the sun...

I don't even know what a wall is and I've been lurking since 2013 and joined in 2014. the walls are not what they used to be in the times when Gox was having 80% of the market +1 But kitten pics are too few!
Popping the cork on a Super-volcano would start a huge party.
and following years of nuclear winter would be true test for bitcoin I wanted to choose 2 options in the poll but its not possible. so i picked Continue sideways, then fall on Aug. 1. I see it with the the same probability as Rise, then drop on Aug. 1.

Hello, after trying to understand all the upcoming shit, segwit, segwitx2, BU, and tons of other shit I have found that segwit + 20 mb.!!11 2.5 min. blocks is pretty hilarious and already there https://www.cryptopia.co.nz/Exchange/?market=BTX_BTC (nuclear PoW change also included). With its on chain scaling I can buy condoms every evening, let the Universe store this transactions in everlasting ledger! Let's make bets if it will overtake any of alts produced by upcoming shitforks? My bet is that BTX will be equal to core and BU will be a winner (unfortunately scammers always win in this space). Remember July/August, the day bitcoin died. All parties made a lot of efforts for that to happen.

This thread wouldn't be what it is without some amount of trolling. If your BET is serious I am sure we could work it out... with some escrow of course. I would only accept payment in BTC in case I win, your BTX are completely useless to me.

Bet is fun. No need to pledge something, we either lose or win this month.

Bet is fun. No need to pledge something, we either lose or win this month. Ok. Anyway, my "bet" is on everything will finally go smoothly with no catastrophic forks or anything like that. Miners (major ones) are risking way more money than anyone else here, so I expect common sense will prevail. Also, if you were considering some sort of hedge against potential "political" troubles in BTC, let me tell you that BTX would not be the best choice even for that. Last thing, if Bitcoin had a major crash every ALT would probably have a bigger one. It would be a catastrophic event for the entire cryptocurrencies ecosystem.

That is a lot of money. My money is on sideways, then moon September - December.
I agree with you - I can't see the price going out of the 2300-2800 range until after august - looks like there is more pressure on the alts right now, will be intersting to see if they retrace to their pre May levels.

Looks like another re-test of $2450 is in order before we can go up and break out of the triangle at last...hopefully we stabilise there and don't break down instead.. could be going as far as $2200 if we do..

august 1 will make price dump, no matter what. just we will see later who was the smarter one LTC may be the final winner... LTC is dumping right now below 45 dollars so it's not looking good. If it keeps crashing and gets cheap I may buy some to specualte with the MIT countdown thing but that's about it. Bitcoin is getting segwit and there will be no hardfork. Once the market understands this reality, BTC will hit all time high in no time and you want to be holding 100% of your wealth in it when that time comes.
