Each block is stacked on top of the previous one. Adding another block to the top makes all lower blocks more difficult to remove: there is more "weight" above each block. A transaction in a block 6 blocks deep (6 confirmations) will be very difficult to remove.

What is going on?

Altcoin investors pumper taking profits and taking money out of the whole crypto market. And also some BIP148 fear.

What BIP148 fear?

We should get Segwit implemented well before Aug 1. Aug 1st is a non issue.

Good morning Bitcoinland.

I see we had a wee dip... currently $2410USD (Bitcoinaverage).

Not quite deep enough for me to run out and buy but it it goes much lower, I might be tempted.

Seems like just more consolidation.

I hope we close the daily above 2420$ at Bitstamp. I know we broke down in the triangle but it just doesn't feel like a bubble popping. Rather everybody who's selling now does so hoping to buy back lower in the not so distant future. After all Bitcoin will finally activate SegWit this month and the FUD surrounding the 1st August is way overblown IMO.

Uncertainty is not something people buy.   People are brave when its a 'sure thing' which leads the market to flip to wild extremes.
A reset to 2000 or so very roughly is still bullish action from my perspective of a few years as weak hands and leverage pulls back.   Some sell some buy, overall its still healthy to shake up any presumptions because there is no sure thing.  Growth has to be genuine and if bitcoin manages to pull that off and overcome this latest speed bump of protocol change to uncap growth, it'll get five figures most likely

I agree with you this cut is very healthy and I even think that even falling to 1200 would continue to be bullish,

You know what would be more bullish than $1200? $1000. So bullish that.

You know what a slow, methodical waterfall from here down to $1200 is called?

It's called a downturn. It's also called 50% of the marketcap leaving to fiat.

Not so bullish.

On the way to the lowest point for the 1st august.

If you have cash (FIAT money), prepare to ... discharge it !
Whales will take the calendar timing like with the missed ETF (800 USD deviation).

May be another good opportunity to get some cheap BTC.
Are you sure that we are not heading into times where the opportunity is going to get better?

That's my doubt too. I've got a little fiat ready - not that much really - and my trigger happy finger is itching for the right time to buy more. Truth is, I don't have a single clue. Just hunches.

Btc 1000$ /1500$

Not really.... The one with Segwit will go probably somewhere under 1000$ and the one classic that is slow and 'primitive' will go to 3500$ - 4000$+. Smiley

Do you guys think it will change its name, or people at least will call it SWC? (Segwit Coin)  Roll Eyes

*edit: I mean... it is obvious the new split coin will be called in a different way and it will be a bad PR move for it.

*edit(2): And I also mean that it is obvious that exchanges will not accept the new version from the get-go, because they still operate on the previous classic version and they are compatible only with that version... right?? Or are there exchanges that are prepared for this?? Smiley
