Looks like post difficulty adjustment we have some hash rate swinging from Bitcoin to Bcash. Hard to quantify how much so far.  Looks like everyone is sitting on their hands right now.

Two blocks in an hour feels low and the blocks are by F2 pool and Solo pool whoever the hell they are.  So my sense is the game is on.

Edit:  now 4 blocks in an hour and one block by BTC.com.  So not a massive swing.

what's up with the ETH? why this pump?

Traders may just have decided it is time to pump ETH. OTOH since many alts are going up I rather think it is diversification: people who own more bitcoin than they feel comfortable holding through a bear market are moving some to alts.

... As if a Bitcoin bear market wouldn't affect altcoins greatly.

I think it's also possible that if people are anticipating a major market downturn and want to cash out to fiat and have large holdings on exchanges that do not offer non usdt pairs that they are buying eth as it will be faster for them to move that value to an exchange where they can actually perform a bank transfer.

Tether scandal is bullish long term for btc core: segwit, atomic swaps, decentralized exchanges

Short term: massive re-evaluation once QE disappears and institutional money pulls out with renewed skepticism

I don't pay much attention to it but I thought difficulty had fallen quite a bit hence BTC was more profitable than before? I presume BCH changes much more often.

It’s only a 1.2% drop according to Bitcoinwisdom but that still helps.

AntPool and ViaBTC have just mined blocks.  Looks like Operation Dragonslayer is off to a slow start.

Now to watch the BCH price.  You might want to consider getting out now if you are in BCH.

He who can't tell a true story of Laszlo's for himself has never been and could never be considered an early bitcoin adopter.
I think most of us here have a Laszlo story to tell.

But we are here  Wink

I personally bought a $100 amazon gift card for 3 BTC and thought I was smart.
Cheesy

those BFL singles were $1300...BTC was $13 at the time...you do the math

gonna set fire to Josh's dog and fuck his mom one day
To think I payed them 13 BTC for one of their pre-orders still annoys the shit out of me - then it arrives 6 months later.

Not sure why everybody moans about BCH, it’s obviously not going to make it long term but it’s free money & some of us are/were very happy Roger & Jihan have pumped it.

Maybe because greedy, centralized bastards are giving the REAL Bitcoin a bad name & causing massive confusion & FUD.

This. I don't care about money that is generated through such means.

The sooner people stop supporting scams, ponzis and other bullshit, the quicker we can start investing in things that will really move humanity forward.

You're going to have move them forward despite it because it's never going to change. In fact I'd hazard to guess that it's barely gotten started.

The best thing Bitcoin can do to combat it is to become bleedin' enormous so this schoolyard shite would be like a fly punching a Brontosaurus.

The ridiculous amount of scams in the space that "doesn't need any regulation" is unbelievable. Scam after scam. In the end the chickens may come home to roost.

The market is getting smarter. It’s much much harder to raise money a bullshit ICO than it was 2 months ago.

While true, it has also made it much more difficult for legitimate projects to raise money.

In the long run we'll reach equilibrium though, and decent projects will get their funding while most of the money grabs will just get laughed at. Hopefully "long run" won't be a decade though.
