Anybody has a link to approximate hardware requirements to run LN?
Do you actually need RAID and lots of memory or reasonable PC is enough?

A raspberry pi is enough. Seriously!
https://medium.com/@stadicus/noobs-guide-to-%EF%B8%8F-lightning%EF%B8%8F-on-a-raspberry-pi-f0ab7525586e
Hardware Requirements

The following components are necessary:

Raspberry Pi: version 2 or 3
Micro SD card: 8 GB or more, incl. adapter to your regular computer
USB power adapter: 5V/1.2A (more ampere is fine) + Micro USB cable
External hard disk: 500 GB or more with dedicated power supply

I did want to urge you to not hook your channels up to the major nodes forming up; sleepyarc, spock, #reckless, etc but to small nodes.  If it is truly going to be a mesh and not a hub and spoke it is up to all of us to manifest it that way.

It seems you are a bit more up on LN things than I am. I heard about an "autopilot" mode. I figure that's good enough to start ?

I believe the defaults are indeed set up to hook you to smaller nodes, yes.  Not sure I'm more up on it...just read some superficial stuff.

Is there a guide to hardware/software setup somewhere?
I have some spare server hardware kicking around that I might use to set one up too.

Edit: lol Kart beat me to it.

A heads up on the airdrop situation. You can now sell a bunch of these fork directly through the latest Bitpie wallet on Android (must download the .apk).

You have to first move the coins to the "Pie Bank". Once they've received enough confirmations (schedule here) they'll be available on the exchange. To access said exchange, you have to select your coin from the main screen then tap the button along the bottom that looks like the refresh or recycling symbol. The orderbook takes a minute to load. You may then proceed to dump for BTC. You can withdraw to your wallet from the bank without ID verification.

At the moment, the only one worth dumping is BTP imho, which, at BTC0.0003 and a 1:10 ratio is fetching around 0.3% per BTC.

It appears we are seeing some nice sidewaysish-upish action over the last 24 hours or so.

Gut check says this is a nice coiling going on right now. Hoping to make another move by Monday/Tues at this rate, ahead of a Wednesday meeting with my financial people, to sign paperwork getting the retirement plan started, ahead of schedule.

I'm starting to wrestle with introspective issues now, like, "How do I break it to my employer that I'm leaving, without nuking bridges ?"

Social politics suck.

I love you guys (no homo).

Thanks for being so chill and playfully understanding while I share and "struggle" with these first world problems on the WO thread.

Looking forward to many more years of posts about watching Bitcoin reach astronomical valuations, while aiming to run a "well respected and secured" LN node, and seeing how that works out for increasing my Bitcoin holdings into the future. I thought about naming it something obvious like "BobLawblawsHouseOfPants", but figure that's just asking for trouble.

May just try the whole daytarding thing.

Haven't decided between settling in the outskirts of Houston or Dallas, but looking towards Texas for their tax laws, cost of living, weather, lifestyle, and travel-hubs.

Driving 911's in the snow is just uncivilized.

If you end up at the Dallas locale, let me know... I'll buy you a beer.

I am in Houston for a while already. It improves steadily (apart from traffic), very green (some streets look awesome with large oaks), diverse and tolerant city (in general).
Lots of land and NO zoning laws, so RE prices are low(er) in suburbs comparing to other big cities.
Two things: summer temperatures are sometimes above 100F (with humidity) and RE tax (more than twice that of Montana) and there is nothing like CA prop 13. In Houston, they can increase your RE tax 10% a year (and they do) until you are 65, after that either flat or smaller increase, not sure. The good thing-you can appeal the RE tax, but have to have a good reason to win.

Overall, I think that in TX the best place to move in is probably Austin (which has some hills) vs flat as a pancake Houston.
Dallas has local tornadoes, Houston is sometimes affected by hurricanes (like every few years now).

By the way, I don't think calling the races of dark skinned people monkies will win many friends either. Knock that on the head my friend. .

well apparently he won you as one , eh?

It's a good strategy when you have groups of people attempting to act as "white people stalkers" to follow them around and act as parasites on them.  Whites and asians seem to build the best civilizations, while most people regard white women as looking the best.  So the monkeys try to get into the white civilization to displace the white inhabitants and take their stuff + women.  You would need to be a super cuckold to want that to happen, so it seems like a good idea calling them monkeys to let them know they're not wanted to keep them out.

Keep posting - it's actually refreshing to see comments like yours, since they are removed from facebook or twitter for being "hate speech", while the radical left advocates for violence against groups they don't like by playing victim.

I mean, just who do you think was running all those pepe frog accounts on Twitter that got Trump elected and were blamed on Russia?

I think it is juuuuust a bit premature to call the mesh topology a done deal.  I hate Ver as much as the next guy, but a few enthusiast nerds testing doesn't really prove anything.

It is not going to surprise me one little bit if, in the future, I want to transact with, say, Digikey that will entail using my channel with Amazon, who has a channel with, say, McMaster Carr, who has a channel with Digikey.  Centralization of major LN nodes is a real danger that we need to be vigilant about.

I dunno man, seems like it's off to a good start to me.

Just like when bitcoin first came out "one cpu one vote".

A few days later....one Chinese guy 1 million votes.

The govt is also going to claim each Lightning node is a money transmitter requiring huge capital and lawyers to run one.

I'll be more convinced once some more big fish come on board to see if it retains it's mesh-like nature. Also, LN still has a few bugs to work out. I wouldn't use it on mainnet, ATM.

If Bitcoin closes above 11147 in 2.75 hours from now, that would be bullish and Boblawblaw should then be able to stick to his retirement plans and sell @ 12500 very soon.

 Using Bitfinex data:
If in ~3 hours we can close above US$11271 it would be the second bullish signal in the last 4 days.  That combined with what looks like a bullish MACD/signal line crossover pending (it's very close), a fairly low RSI and the possibility of closing the week above the weekly opening of US$11513 (which would be the first time in 3 weeks this has happened - 'course we have another day to go to see that), gives me an idea that US$14k is on its way... looks like a lot of resistance at $14k though.

Why does reading this thread today make me think of Hannah Arendt at the Eichmann trial?

I mean, if Eichman would have also been boastful and a goldbug, in addition to being an anti-semitic psychopath.

That's some superb virtue signaling you did there.  Abe Foxman couldn't have done a better job.

So are you a super cuckold or part of the monkey tribes entering my civilization to take/ruin our nice things and our beautiful women?

I'm quite confident that both actively contributing to modern civilization, as well as beautiful women are more of a theoretical issue for you personally.

Holy crap! That is a bullish weekly pinbar if it closes like that in 24 hours!

How did you draw that logarithmic line on your chart? Here is mine, which is already broken.

I bet if there is a breakout it stays under that line as resistance. A false breakout that makes at best some kind of double top.

Draw the line in linear mode and then choose logarithmic mode - your line will curve.

No. His line is curved on a linear chart, which means it was linear on a logarithmic chart, like mine. Im askling why he placed it there, which seems kind of arbitrary.

Drawing a line in log mode and then selecting linear will also curve the line.

edit: just experimented and linear->log curves a straight line the opposite way.
