Have you guys seen the latest season of Silicon Valley?

This episode gave me goosebumps: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=28IpiLraUoc

One of the advisers of the show was on consensus talking about blockchain or crypto.

The Bitcoin network protocol was designed to be extremely flexible. It can be used to create timed transactions, escrow transactions, multi-signature transactions, etc. The current features of the client only hint at what will be possible in the future.

2) ongoing mtgox manipulation:  This subject matter of mtgox manipulation comes off as another one of those distracting and misleading talking points that seems to infiltrate into a lot of discussions, including discussions by seemingly smart people who are finding a pattern or attempting to find a pattern.  I remain of the "who gives a shit" perspective on this particular talking point.  Sure, you can include mtgox into your analysis, but it remains one of many factors that seems retrospectively over-hyped.  For example, when the trustee first began to sell coins between December and February, those sales were not getting too much publicity, but after the fact, they are being described as if they were in the public consciousness at the time of the initial dumps and able to affect the price.  I remain of the perspective that there was so much trade volume between December and January that the mtgox coin dumps were quite unlikely to have any kind of meaningful effect, but such supposed effect has been exaggerated after the fact in order to attempt to get affect on the current price dynamics,  and in order to attempt to shake some additional weak hands of their bitcoins.

So the BTC ETF victims of Wall Street got (somewhat) GOXed?

The more I learn about TA the more I think it's all bullshit and not much different than astrology.

I don't think you really appreciate the power of TA. The simplest daily 50/200 MA Golden Cross would have told you to start buying bitcoin at $415 and hold. When the 3 day RSI hit an unprecedented 92.99 price was over $16,000 and was a clear signal to start selling. If you missed the top there was a dead cat bounce to $17,000 before the 50/200 Death Cross final exit signal occurred at $9300. Until daily 50 MA crosses above the 200 again we are in a bear market. Every bear market is different; this one might only last 6 months but a year is quite possible until sellers are done.

Now can we get on with doing the same for all the mETH heads and all the ICO shitcoin lovers?

The only ICO that isn't for a shitcoin is the HoweyCoins ICO that's endorsed by theymos and all the mods. It's officially registered with the U.S. government and SEC compliant. You are GUARANTEED PROFIT from your investment from it.

Theymos himself made its announcement thread.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=3920469.0

Invest all your Bitcoins in it, and if you don't have any money to invest get a huge loan.

This is the bounty thread.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=4029040.0

Theymos GUARANTEES PROFIT from it.

Et tu, Theymos?

This is a helpful campaign.
https://www.investor.gov/howeycoins

However the thing that bothers me, is that even if an ICO has none of the things listed on that page it is STILL a scam. Period. It doesn't matter what the devs claim, or what the "parameters" are. Trying to differentiate one from another doesn't matter. All ICOs are scams.

Penny stocks are complete scams endorsed by the SEC. They are fraud. So are ICOs. Same thing with different name.

Strange!  Is Theymos account stolen?  Has he done this kind of shit before?  Is this the biggest scam in crypto?  WTF?

Yeah.. seems like a similarly obvious joke as his April fools joke, even while we are not in April no more. Go figure?

Its really getting cray cray how mainstream is adopting crypto. Did you see Billions with the 1 mio usb stick? I do enjoy that show.
--------------

Been thinking about 280 trillion dollars of global wealth. This is by far a more significant number than what I used doing those back of the napkin calc's before. I used 80t...so times 3x what I was doodling with before. Someone mentioned it at the time..thanks.

Quote
Global Wealth Report 2017
9/2017
According to the eighth edition of the Credit Suisse Research Institute's Global Wealth Report, in the year to mid-2017, total global wealth rose at a rate of 6.4%, the fastest pace since 2012 and reached USD 280 trillion. This reflected widespread gains in equity markets matched by similar rises in non-financial assets, which moved above the pre-crisis year 2007's level for the first time this year. Wealth growth also outpaced population growth, so that global mean wealth per adult grew by 4.9% and reached a new record high of USD 56,540 per adult. This year, the report includes a focus on Millennials' wealth position and provides a comparison with earlier generations
http://publications.credit-suisse.com/tasks/render/file/index.cfm?fileid=12DFFD63-07D1-EC63-A3D5F67356880EF3

.05% of 280t=140b or almost exactly bitcoins MC.

Percent of global adoption..what did we say?  About .05%? With a upwards limit of perhaps 5% aware of bitcoin and actively trying to accumulate..somewhere in there. Hmm..one order of magnitude larger. So..140b becomes 1.4t becomes 14t and so on. I think the cryptocurrency MC as a whole could reach 5 to 15 trillion within the next several years..say 2025. I feel this is a extremely conservative estimation. These first couple of jumps are going to be something else to see. It all seems to align, its almost as if..  Well, its very interesting to me to say the least.

---------------
To many numbers to deal with tonight..have a chart instead.  Tongue
Retesting some of these short period fibonacci lines. Hodling at the .5 retrace for now. Going deeper towards that 0.786 fib might cause me to reconsider things.
A following sea and a bit of swell might cause a bit of unpleasantness until we clear the channel. Probably just some chop as mentioned.

To end on a positive..check out this TEDtalk if you have time. Its about happiness. I was surprised at some of the figures and it changed my perspective somewhat.
Just shows to go ya how mainstream media and these "social" sites are all doom and gloom. ftf(them)

They know the goose bump formula even on stupid meaningless things. They probably have a class on it in film school. But mix that with something meaningful that I'm already passionate about, yea, same here, major goose bumps. Someone who writes for that show sounds like a super cool guy.

I shit you not, I just saw a full video ad for this ICO pop up on Youtube

https://repocoin.io/

Unfuckingbelievable what a scam this is. Their so-called "use case" makes zero, absolutely zero, fkn sense. Not to mention no sense why it would have any tradable value whatsoever.

Quote
How Repo Coin Works

1. Download our mobile app once its available and scan license plates in any public space.

2. If a license plate is tagged for repossession, an alert is sent to the app user, the lender and the vehicle recovery agent.

3. A recovery truck is dispatched, and the process to return the vehicle to the lender is immediately underway.

Are people this gullible?

Iam not sure if thats a valid business or not but the point I would make on this is publicity.   Thats all Im reading with enterprises like this, its all justifiable to them on the basis of publicity, propagation on an enterprise idea and engagement with the public.   If somehow association with crypto or block chain makes people feel more likely to take up interest in your idea then its going to become part of the meta for any startup.

I'm thinking of how much does Coke spend on advertising every day, we all know this product already and still they spend a ton putting it back into our brains to pick up this special sugar drink at a premium price.   So any business needs people to recognise and accept that product in order to be successful, it could be the main reason for success or failure.   Companies like this just piggy back onto the latest trend to gain a cheaper audience then anything like Television adverts would cost them.
Im not against it exactly, any free app is justified if they can stick a free advert on the bottom.  Now they have your attention and you get the free use of their coded app, everyone is a winner.  Its a mutually beneficial relationship.  Advertising is the original E-currency for the internet is how I see that.  It might be tied to dollars in some conventional way, but adverts I consider like a kind of currency that paved the way for alot of small fast development online I think.

Bitcoin does seem to be considered a "tech stock" by the markets. There is a risk that it would suffer the same fate as other tech stocks. Best to have some phyz too just in case.
