For me last night was a turning point, I can see some significant money behind bitcoin. Mature 'loaded' players that now have growing stashes of coins. I think the times of the spectacular bubble pops are over, and we need to be very careful of simply jumping-in on the next crash.

Well ladies and gents, this flushing is going to tell us A LOT about the state of bitcoin and where the money has come and is coming from.
We won't be able to see the full picture for months or at least weeks, but when we can see it, we will know much better about what kind of investors made up the rally in the East, which ones are long term and where future money can and can't come from there - AND maybe more importantly, we will know how much of the rally really came from the East and how much really came from the West.
And I suspect we will never have to worry about China "leading" the markets again. Which is A - O - K with me.
I was with you up until the last sentence, Honey Badger, why the antipathy towards China? I was never quite confident that China had any real long term future with bitcoin. And I would rather, in an ideal world, have bitcoin be driven by people in countries that have more freedoms, because from a PR standpoint it makes bitcoin appear more solid as well. Places where freedom is dear, need it more. Without need, no reason for bitcoin. Unless the money is free, the people never can be. Do not blame the people for the governments under which they suffer, many may be just like you in more ways than you might imagine, but less free to admit it. Eloquently put...

I think we will go up up up , to 1000 and maybe correct to 850-900 then the rally will start again
most important we did hit 600 as I predicted, most big players sold yesterday, so it is only weak hands playing now
No stupid, its the weak hands got shaken off. Big players have been buying like crazy. Did you watch the market at all? hahahahah, go back to sleep!!! where were you yesterday when the price was 850 and we started discussing the crash before it happen, and it did , and we said it will go to 600 and it did...... I was way ahead when BTCchina started dumping.... I was the ONLY one that called inside trading when everyone said its fake . But i've been watching the market, big walls on Gox stayed strong and there were even hidden walls (which indicates the dumps at 900-850 were basically buying back in. Yeah where was i? long story short, I made 16.9% profit, not bad, I am at stronger position.... Awsome, now you're willing to gamble one more time? When there are market movers, you will not be lucky all the time.... I will take the risk, but this time I did deposit some cash into my account I wont play with the bitcoins I made yesterday ... just hope the price will drop a bit more

You're maybe right that there will no more be so violent pops in the future... times for big "easy" gains from pops are over

Well we still haven't tested the lows of the Dec 6th correction so there may be some way to go yet.
I'm wondering...if BTChina is facing an exodus of user funds then I imagine a lot of that process will be done in BTC (for the overseas users at least), which should stoke demand and thus drive the price up again. So the tensions this situation is creating are pretty interesting.

I guess you saw their notice about wire transfers, should see more fiat on there soon - I just wish they'd spend a bit of money on an English editor

Yes. That's one of the shortcomings. I can live with it, but agree that it could be much better. I gotta say that I'm much happier with them than the way I got goxxxed the last two times.

Yeah, I was goxxed too...it scars you doesnt it just looking at other exchanges other than China ...Gox's fee schedule...last updated Dec 2011...unbelievable I'd trade on BTCe but the volumes are so low for BTC that slippage is too much

I'm looking at the 3 min charts for all 5 of the biggies right now and BTC-e has/had the most volume of all. It does vary though. Stamp seems to gather the most fiat for US, and perhaps Canada, but there seems to be a strong European influence on BTC-e that I find encouraging. Time of day likely has much to do with it too.

I say 14. <100 - 2 (1.3%) <50 - 1 (0.6%) <1 - 12 (7.5%) Why? Bitcoin is going back to 2$. China has betrayed us!!!! Without the rich chinese people , do you think we poor Europeans and Americans can hold the price above 10?
