I really don't get it. Why someone with 10K bitcoins would dump them with 10% loss at 7400 when they could sold at 20 000? Who are these people? Playing with futures or just morons enjoying losing and making everybody sad. May be the silk road admin or some other criminals. And what will they do with the cash? Bury it in his yard, then gets arrested and hangs himself like the alpha bay admin. I curse these peoples with all the evil to them and their families! In Jesus name, amen! We, the honest hodlers will prevail and rejoice for ever!

I asked this question also several times:

The only answer I could find is that they are swing-traders.

They dump 1000 coins, drive the price down and hope to get others to dump as well, moving the price further down.

Then they buy at this lower price and influence other to do the same.

Why they don't just wait for 20k is another story ... they probably calculated it through that they can make more money this way.

Sometimes that night of hookers and blow goes a little too far and you gotta pay up more than expected.

As in "if I only knew, I would be getting rich instead of posting here."

But SOMA, yes, I see some more downside, possibly with alternating ramps up.

Probably hoping it creates a panic sale & the price slumps to low $6000’s so he can buy them all back a lot cheaper.

Asshole!
Nah I figure he's been scared of selling and got a bit of courage and did so now, he should be afraid the Reddit post seemed very FBIish and if it wasn't the FBI is most likely following this as well.

Pretty sure it isn't and it's some random whale connected to the silkroad who has a ton of coins.

My guess is futures or leveraged traders who bet on the price going down and then dump on the real market after which they buy back slowly. With enough ammo, it's a pretty safe bet. Works on both directions. They really dont give a shit what price Btc is at but need to be careful in case they go too far and kill the golden goose.
Short answer is Bart syndrome
Btw the relatively small volume exchange Bitstamp seems to lead most of these moves strangely. At least from my limited observations over the last 12 months

IIRC my Twittersphere properly, yesterday, I believe that was an erroneous accusation re: Silkroad, and the coins were instead linked to an MtGOX account.

Yeah. It's the same shape I saw (on BTC-USD) a bit earlier, when I said:

I've seen a sharp, quick drop.

(snip)

Mid-high 6k's are likely IMO (SOMA).

It didn't exactly take a wizard to know what was happening.

I'm with your guru on this one. We need a little real capitulation. I'm afraid this is only foreplay.
