What's with this unusual influx of new users?

I don't see many myself.  Of the ones that are here, most are just people that inhabit the altcoin release section trying to scam people with pump and dumps, and now they've rotated back to bitcoin trying to figure out what to do now that bitcoin became unstable from it's sideways movement.

sometimes, it is beter to buy altcoin and sell it for btc after going up. you can get more btc for the same amount of USD invested.

I have no family, I have few friends, and I'm going broke from holding btc and eth, soon to be homeless.  Great holiday.

All I wanted to do is buy a small house, already lost 150k which would of been enough.  On the verge of suicide if it keeps dropping.

You lost 150k of money you invested in crypto or you mean from unrealised profits at ATH? If it is the second, many are in the same situation (or much worse), if it is the first option, my condolences Sad

Noone ever said crypto wasn't as much a risky investment as it can be. It is, it has been, and probably it will still be for quite some time in the future.

Has everybody started buying AGAIN now?

I bought pretty much all of my coins in 2014 & am still HODLING most of them now. I decided to stop buying when we went back to $1000 after the Gox crash. Seeing that we reached $19,xxx last year though makes me think these are cheap coins atm.

I bought some the other day & am thinking about buying again today.

So who’s buying now or are you waiting to go lower still?

I am buying with both hands. Bought $1000 this month only. My total investment till now is $15k.

But on that Total investment also few very cheap coins involved?
Like under 1k ?

Must be your here for a long time already.....

My average is $3.3k

Bought most of them after $5-6k :/ FOMO got me so bad.

It is easier to trade or use recently purchased bitcoin (at least in US).
With older, cheaper btc, there are two "problems":
1. Every time you use it, you would have to calculate your return, then pay taxes in april (or even quarterly if your profit is high). In other words, each sell is a trade.
2. The darned forks. unless you want to leave money on the sidewalk, you would have to to make a new wallet for any fork you want to redeem. Not unsurmountable problem, but very annoying.

The influx of noobs in this thread (aka alts) is usually a sign that we’re at or near the bottom (they’re desperately trying to trick weak hands into selling by declaring imminent dumps).

Let’s see how it plays out.

Happy Thanksgiving!

If I thought that BTC is "dying" I would sold. I am not. What I am saying is that it has always been an extremely risky investment and that shit happens. If someone thinks some investment can only go to "moon" with a zero probability of going to hell they are fooling themselves.

That sucks man.
If I can give you some advice, it sounds like it is really getting to you, which probably means you have too much skin in the game.  Risk management is a difficult but necessary thing to think about.  Try to make your investments such that you can be ok with (some of) them going to shit.

About the bitcoin price, in the long term I am still uberbullish, medium term I think it might go a bit lower still, very short term i am bullish.  My particular speculations or opinions on this matter don't really matter of course, but what I want to say is: try to prepare yourself emotionally for potential hardship in advance.

And if you are feeling really shit at this moment, try to put things in perspective, as hard as that might be.  There are a lot of people who are not in the position to lose 150k, and who would feel rich if they had 15k or even 1.5k on their bank account, let alone people who are scrounging to get by day by day.
You might feel obliterated these days, but those feelings will in all probability pass.

I happened to be watching this today, perhaps you find it useful : https://youtu.be/B9XGUpQZY38

yeah lets hope the bottom is close.
I dont like this slow, almost non recovery after such dump. We should jump up soon, before the week's end, or get ready for longer period of consolidation and perhaps test of the 2018 lows

Or maybe this market slow down is just because of Thanksgiving holidays, black friday shopping etc..
If you are observing this day, have a tasty juicy turkey with your families and dont worry about btc price every minute. it will come back sooner or later.

Shouldn't it have been kind of a red flag to you people that everything I said about digital currency having no fundamentals because transaction validators are designed to centralize was true when you had the 'cobra incident' of them trying to do some last ditch effort behind the scenes to change the PoW algo?  Not that that would have actually helped anything.  It would just remove ASICs from the scene for a few months then back to square one.  If you have someone manually changing algos and flipping levers on it all the time, then it would be the same thing as central bankers anyway.

Some have. I could cite at least a couple in this very same thread that probably did. Not a wise thing to do though even if it paid off awesomely for them.

Risky investments should only be done with "money you can afford to lose". That's a mantra no one should forget or else they are just gambling not investing.

I fix broken miners. And make holes in teeth :-)

View Profile
November 22, 2018, 07:22:40 PM

fix some holes in some teeth, make your broken miner, earn and buy some BTC , BTFD

do all this while your turkey is coocking then just eat have fun with your FAM,FRIENDS and just know the BTC's you hodl are brewing to join the BULLrun for when it starts...........

in belgium no thanksgiving day, so its just go for sports, get home eat some late evening things and just watch some TV/BTC-shit.....
Interesting. Maybe next year I can cook a turkey with the heat from bitcoin miners. Hm.....

Not much of a business in fixing miners right now other than Titans (damn things will last forever); Antminers are not worth it although the next S15 will probably be the same design as the S9/7/whatever they seem to churn out.

Yesterday was the first day of trading for the ETP on the Swiss Six Exchange :
https://www.six-group.com/exchanges/exchange_traded_products/security_info_en.html?id=CH0445689208USD4
Amun Crypto Basket Index ETP (named "HODL")

Man this thing is tiny. Only 250k units issued at 15 USD means like $3.6M, less than half of which is Bitcoin (Daily volume today is $15k). Don't expect this to affect the price  for some time (if ever).
Hiya wachtwoord, haven't seen you around in a while.  By the way, don't you know you need a hat around these parts lately?  Grin
