Price is stagnating now... you guys see still a downtrend but we are approaching the end of the year.

Difficult to predict but I sniff a pump before the 31th December.

Let’s hope so, I see more sideways with a potential for slightly lower. I think we’ll rally to over $5,000 by the end of February though.

Regardless of small price movements (and that’s what they are atm imo) ......BTFD!
It is a common myth that Bitcoin is ruled by a majority of miners. This is not true. Bitcoin miners "vote" on the ordering of transactions, but that's all they do. They can't vote to change the network rules.

$6245 is over $5000 Wink

I think we’ll start to move upwards in Feb regardless of BAKKT, even if they delay again.

These prices are literally ‘cheap coin’.
Like Hairy said, this is a once in a lifetime opportunity, I am buying more but I just wish I had a lot more fiat.

Yeah, the last consistent crash was on 6 Dec. Perhaps it will stagnate for another week and then something will happen.

Let's also consider some alt prices are very low, if BTC will crash again they could worth a penny, which would be ok for a consequent and fast bull run though.

This morning I got news that I will get some small inheritance about 0.5BTC Can't wait to get it done and secure the coins in my HW. Let the n00bs continue the shorts play. They will all get rekt soon. Shorts are close to a pannic attack. Each time some big buyer appears, they put a warning sell wall of 1000 bitcoins in BFX. So pathetic! It seems that the price is close to their margin call and if it jumps then they have to buy at least 60K bitcoins. Of course, they will come here and post FUD about going down so that average Joe doesn't buy now. In this way they hope to buy for a long time at this price and avoid the short squeeze. However, they can't suppress the price long enough (not enough sell offers currently) and especially they are afraid of the incoming approval of CFTC for bakkt. It will probably come out in the next few days. Trust me, shorts have red eyes googling each 5 mins for the bakkt news while watching the price! n00bs!  Grin Grin Grin

There is an excellent article which I read which explains why odds are stacked against shorts in the long run.  Shorting is always a short term play.  I am going to try to find it.

hope you can find it, like to read it Smiley

Speaking of... my favorite 24-hour average and two parallel lines:

Two random parallel lines? Or is there a reason why certain price extremes were disregarded while others were not?

Older stuff (more than 11 months) disregarded. Last 11 months fit inside, between the lines.

Hmm...  To me, it looks like (but for the last few weeks) it was a triangle.

A triangle we fell out of the bottom of.

But hey, what do I know?

The way I see it, a retail investor or institutional money would likely choose the real thing (settled in kind) over paper stuff that eventually goes bust. Ease of physical delivery is the winning property.

Sadly as it stands I think it's the opposite.

They're used to paper.  Everything they do is built around it. The futures are provided by names they trust, unlike the physical options. Like most people here they're only after more dollars but at least they're happy to admit it.

They'll have to be dragged into thinking physical is to their benefit. It's alien to how they operate.

There would need to be an army of non traditional finance believers and players to take command of the price via physical options for them to pay attention.

Is that not the same for BTC ?

Most ppl are after more dollars.  When the $$ price of BTC falls it is bad news for them. They are treating BTC like a stock/commodity, and most have an intention to sell (usually only a portion) for fiat.

That makes a lot of intended sales hanging over the market. This could be a very long bear market. I would guess the price needs to get low enough so that every potential seller has actually sold (fear) or is going to hodl (to 0 if needed) because the value of their holding is not enough to be worried about.

Simple Trading Psychology.

I’m holding a bag of XRP. Not really bothered about it because I have a hell of a lot more bitcoin but it’s nice to have a bit of something somewhere else. You never know if XRP went to $50-$100 each or something that’d make me a lot of money too.

I agree but I think we will be in this hole or lower until late 2019.  A February recovery is too early for me.  I am buying now just to hedge in case I am wrong.

i'm a bit curious, lets say it goes how you are saying it .... longterm that major bullish (and for you best work out road for BTC?) as in healthy etc

let say theres a recovery much sooner ... february-march-may, and a BIG BULLrun following , would you say its more bad or ?

or all the same but just another unexpected road followed by BTC?
somac.

I don't know if anyone here makes much use of archive.org, but I dabble around with some old 80s computers every now and again and their wayback machine is very helpful for this hobby. In particular, finding old sites that no longer exist. They also have a large collection of old computer magazines that are also a great help.

Anyway, they are looking for donations at the moment with some rich donor matching all donations, and they accept bitcoin, so I decided to send then a bit. Some of you here might be interested in doing the same.
