By ownership I mean not having to work.  IF you are a self employed person that runs a shop thats a whole different story.

The way I see it there isn't really a middle class. It is mainly 2 classes, those that have to work for an hourly wage and those that can live doing no work because they get paid because of ownership.(stocks, property, etc)

Bitcoin mining is now a specialized and very risky industry, just like gold mining. Amateur miners are unlikely to make much money, and may even lose money. Bitcoin is much more than just mining, though!

You set a target in your life. (That usually happens when you are in high school or earlier. The earlier the better.)

If you are smart, the target should be achievable.

Most people with average intelligence usually reach their goals in life. (Making decent money, having a decent salary job, wife&kids, a yacht etc)

If you are smarter, you achieve your target faster than the others. A lot faster. That makes the real difference. I am not that smart but I can identify a smart guy instantly. Most people don't have that talent. :p
Speaking as a boat owner, a yacht is not an intelligent life goal.

Depends.

Depends on what problems you are experiencing as a yacht owner. Maybe you shouldn't own a yacht. Without having enough budget and knowledge, having a yacht might become your nightmare and that's when you realize you didn't make an intelligent decision by buying a yacht. Maybe a 45feet long boat isn't for you but only a 32 feet. Maybe you didn't like sailboats. Maybe you are a motorboat guy. Maybe you don't like to hold the wheel, maybe you want a captain on a pay roll. Maybe you don't want to deal with the repairs, maybe you don't have the money to have someone to deal with this shit.

Depends on a lot. Intelligence bruh. You gotta know what is going to make you happy.
No it doesn't. Nobody needs a yacht. It is purely a status symbol. Maybe that's useful to you in your situation, but in that case the yacht is not the end but merely the means to something else.

I refuse this.

By this line of thinking nobody should own a Lamborghini or a private Jet neither, yet they do. Whatever makes you happy buddy. If a person dreams of having a yacht, if he thinks it is going to make him happy, he should own it and nobody can do anything about it. (You can replace "yacht" with anything you like. A super car, a plane, a helicopter...)
Yeah well you are wrong. It's an expensive boat. Nobody needs that, a cheap one will do as well for anything but preening.

I actually want a sailboat because I love sailing and the sea. Doesn't need to be too nice, and I don't think it is some huge money hole. If I bought a $25,000 sailboat, I would expect to put another $7000 into it's repair, upkeep, etc. To use it for 5 summers and re-sell at something like $15,000 is well worth it in my case.

Owning that kind of shit is sooo 2018. It's just about accessing it, using it for the time that you actually want to use it.

And when I say shit I mean super yachts and helicopters. Lambo's and regular yachts you just need to own.

I don't remember when I specifically said "an expensive boat". I said a yacht. Maybe that's why you are confused since yachts are usually expensive boats. I should have said "a boat" my bad.

A sailboat has the same meaning as a yacht for me. So I was actually describing a sailboat.

for example:

I think that's a reasonable goal.

Does anybody have insight into real-estate in Montenegro? Is it dumb to buy some? IDK EU/Russia politics and economics really, and I simply seek economic Mediterranean climate land/real estate. (Don't want to go to AUS, CA too expensive).

I do.

It is being said that MN will soon enter the EU. Depends on where you live right now, getting a citizenship from MN might be a good idea. But it is still a lottery. EU might fall apart before they enter or by the time MN enters the EU, only poor countries like Romaina, Bulgaria, Greece might be left.

Regardless of entering the EU, MN is still a good country to live I think. It might get boring fast though, depends on many stuff. Maybe you should spend some time there first.

No one is asking for life to be fair.  It isn't.

Just don't deceive yourself that you hit a home run because you happened to be born on third base.

WTF are you talking about?

Is there a point you are trying to make? Has something held you back in life? Is that your excuse?  Do yourself a favor and don't make excuses for yourself or others. Lets hold ourselves accountable. Life works SO MUCH better than way.

He's trying to explain to the dumbasses you are that saying something as stupid as "if you have time to complain you don't deserve to go up" that maybe, JUST MAYBE, there is a more systematic problem and that success is absolutely not linked to hardwork.

Shut the fuck up and get your head out of your ass.

Anyone saying that success is linked to hardwork deserves to be let alone in any third world country to see how their hardwork will be rewarded. Or in any poor family in any Western country.

Assholes.

Thank you. Am tired too by those pricks brainwashed by the system propaganda that explains that you need to be a shark or step on someone else to succeed. Me think they listened to too many yes man guru speeches spitting "conceive believe achieve" . While people are fighting each other like dumbasses, the evil reptilians are laughing hard eating caviar on a yacht planning the next global crisis.

The recent Tucker Carlson speech got me thinking, and created tons of controversy among the right. Tucker: America's goal is happiness, but leaders show no obligation to voters. It's not often a conservative questions capitalism outright.

He's right in that it's clear that the current system isn't working, and we're heading toward something very bad happening if we don't fix things soon.

Word of advice from a sailing brotha, expect to spend as much on repairs and maintenance and upgrades as on the boat itself.

What really is BS is stating that everyone has the same opportunity to endeavour to improve their situation. In order to do that you'll need, well, opportunity. If you're totally tied up in whatever circumstances you might not have that.

Not everybody has the same opportunities. But everybody has opportunities.

Quote
This idea that anyone can just 'break free' at any time from any circumstances is just plain naive frankly.

Not break free. Rise above.

The discussion started with an observation that there is a permanent whiner class that does nothing other than whine.

"WBTC is the first ERC20 token backed 1:1 with Bitcoin. Transparent, 100% verifiable, open and community led.
Starting January 2019
WBTC brings greater liquidity to the Ethereum ecosystem including decentralized exchanges (DEXs) and financial applications. Today, the majority of trading volume takes place on centralized exchanges with Bitcoin. WBTC changes that, bringing Bitcoin’s liquidity to DEXs and making it possible to use Bitcoin for token trades."

Not understanding. If it is backed 1:1 by Bitcoin, then WTF is the point?

Anyone who has time to complain about wealth inequality doesn't really deserve moving upwards in the food chain, as they could've invested the same time on figuring out sensible goals for their life as well as some steps towards them.

QFT.

+1

What he said.

What if they used the time, then figured out the solutions and then realized every one of those solutions would get them killed so decided to just sit back and complain until someone else finds a better solution that doesn't get them killed?

I can't even figure out what you are getting at. Working on life will get you killed? I guess in some sense. In the long run, we're all dead.

Life is hard. Buck up, bucko - or get lapped by those willing to put in the work.

I dated a girl for a number of years.

Her father was wealthy and powerful.  He owned 25+ houses that he rented out.  He was also a drunk and highly abusive.

The mother eventually divorced him after a series of domestic violence incidents.  The father decided to make the mother's life a living hell.   He hired lawyers to sue the mother for everything under the sun, stalked the mother and tried to destroy her friendship networks.  This went on for five years.

The mother grew deeply depressed and semi suicidal.  My girlfriend and her sister at the age of 8 had to get the mother out of bed in the morning, get her dressed so the mother could drive them to school.  Some days they couldn't get their mother out of bed so they missed school.

My girlfriend was incredibly smart and motivated but she missed a lot of school during that five year period.  It affected her grades and she had to work hard to try to catch up.  She also had the mental load of trying to parent her own mother through the divorce and aftermath.  There is no doubt in my mind if she had had a normal, stable childhood, she would have been a surgeon or rocket scientist.  Instead she will likely never achieve her full potential.

Let's not kid ourselves that everyone has equality of opportunity.  Because they don't.

Relevance of anecdote?

Sounds to me as if you are claiming that, seeing as we all have access to different opportunities, it isn't even worth trying to improve your circumstance.

I call bullshit on that. Everyone has the same opportunity to endeavor to improve their situation.

Show me where anyone said otherwise. no one said someone can not ATTEMPT to better their standard because of where that standard started. Your argument is a red herring fallacy or your reading comprehension has failed you. Nice try on qualifying a statement to change it's content though.

Anyone saying that success is linked to hardwork deserves to be let alone in any third world country to see how their hardwork will be rewarded. Or in any poor family in any Western country.

Absolute twaddle.

The circumstances of one's birth are relevant, indeed. However, anyone who works hard will experience more success than one who does not. Period.

Absolute bullshit again trying to change the argument to suit your reply.

Not everybody has the same opportunities. But everybody has opportunities.

Agreed.

A kid born to an investment banker in NY has the opportunity to go to Wharton.

A kid born to a Pakistani manual laborer has the opportunity to work in a rug factory at age 10.

Everyone has opportunities.

The real question is whether we think this is a satisfactory state of affairs, or whether we should strive for improvement.

My belief is that by improving the opportunities available to the child of the Pakistani labourer, we all become wealthier.   That child may invent a cure for disease X if they are given the opportunity.

It's fine. Leave it. Up to the labourer to do all that, not some busybody who thinks he knows better.
