Bitcoin Is Now Officially In Its Longest Bear Market Ever

Bitcoin has officially entered the longest stretch of declining prices in its 10-year history.

The world’s oldest and most valuable cryptocurrency achieved an all-time high of $19,764 on Dec. 17, 2017 on the CoinDesk Bitcoin Price Index and has printed a series of lower price highs ever since, making February 2 (as per UTC time), the 411th consecutive day prices have been in decline.

As such, bitcoin’s latest stretch surpasses the duration of the infamous 2013-2015 bitcoin bear market, which spanned 410 days from its price high to low.

It wouldn't be such a bad thing with dirt cheap gold if you think about it, things that now have to be replaced periodically because they oxidize/corrode can last forever if they are made of gold.

Plus we can implement the Anunnaki plan and introduce a layer of nanoparticulate gold in our upper atmosphere in lieu of ozone.

Man oh man oh man.

I have been running a few lightning nodes for a long time (I actually had one of the first 200 on main net)... but to be honest I have not done a ton of lightning transactions.  I mean I bought the requisite reckless stickers from blockstream last year and did a lot of silly shit on satoshis.place, but I quit moving bitcoin around just for fun years ago.

So tonight I have just been horsing around...  and I feel like it's 2011.

I have 2 lightning wallets on my phone, and am running Zap on a PC and lnd on a little server...

I have been sending about 3 millions sats around from my phone to my phone to my desktop to my little server to my phone etc.

IT IS INSTANT!!! Usually the receiving wallet says it has the payment before the sending wallet knows it's gone! And as soon as I get it I can spend it, and it costs basically NOTHING.

The people who are clamoring about how this will become centralized are wrong.  It will be distributed, and there will be some big hubs for liquidity... and those hubs will compete for fees and there will not be much incentive to charge a lot.

It just hadn't sunk in 'till tonight.  This is going to change the world, gentlemen.  It's a kludgy mess right now, but as they add features to this it is going to become a monster.  AND YOU DON'T HAVE TO CHANGE BITCOIN.  On chain is on chain forever.  Lightning doesn't change that.

What it changes is the future.

If you have not tried it.  you need to fucking try it.  You need to set up two nodes and send sats back and forth.

This is gentlemen.

Do you think it is over or we will we going down for another 3-6 months? Either way we are very close to the bottom and I don't think we should try to catch the absolute bottom. Instead, we should keep DCA'ing from here. But don't listen to me I've been DCA'ing since $15k.  Grin

If the bowl gets wider with every new bear market, then it might take more than 6 months. What if we stay bear for another year or two? I can handle another bear year but It would fuck me up mentally ( ok let's say I will feel sorry) if we don't see good signs in 2020.

Those that joined bitcoin and crypto during the bull run of 2017 have now been shaken out because they thought they were too late.

In reality, they got shaken out because they were still too early.

Perspective matters.

you are dying of Chron's, and you leave no backup...

It's a really shitty thing to do.

ISWYDT

For $190 million, dying in India, I’m going to want to see a body.  Or at the very least a Canadian’s coroners certificate.

Was the body returned to Canada?

What's with all the paranoia ?

Alright... Bedtime for me.

Threw some SATs at Satoshi's Place out of boredom, and it didn't seem to do a good job of color mapping our resident haberdashers masterpiece, but, whatever. lulz.

Zzz

EDIT: Ok, now I'm going to bed for real this time.

Let me tell you a story about the 14/15 bear market. My wife was in her masters program at the time and I needed $5k for tuition. $5k then was 22 BTC. I was in between clients and wasn’t going to be paid for 3 months. So I sold the BTC right? Wrong. I sold my car. Got $6k for it.

Have been watching parts of the Unconfiscatable Conference Livestream. Some parts with interesting non price related talk.
You do have the host and some new kids all predicting the low between $2300 and $1800 'because TA'. And even sub $1000 to squish out 'all bad players like alt coins and ico's'.

First there is no such thing as risk free money to be earned. It has been too easy to just sell, wait, profit. That will be punished one day and we again have a whole new generation of fiat bag holders. If bitcoin will hit <$2300 for sure, it would already be there. These bears are as drunk by greed as the >$50k in a year predicting talking heads.

Secondly alt coins and now ico's going away is just wishful thinking. Same as there are and will be many different currencies. What their value will be is debatable.

I don't care where the final bottom is, but for sure will be around for my next 5 years. Are you?

Perspective matters.

Not many people have either the money or balls to sit there & watch their investment crash over 80% & still sit there buying more of said investment.

We are one of a kind, HODLERS have balls of absolute steel.

We will be greatly rewarded in a few years. Just be patient gentlemen & to quote Hairy - ’Our day in the sun will come’.

Keep accumulating in the sideways period, prepare yourself the best you can for the next bull run.
