Let me know if you find this useful. If so I will keep it available if not, also fine.
Nice chart, thanks! (Except that the colors of the lines are too similar, it is hard to tell which is which.)

May I ask how you got the Huobi price data?  (I have been downloading from bitcoincharts.com but they omit Huobi and OKCoin)

I'd like to add I only agree with this quote if you invest all, or near all you have. And that is the case for many "bulls" here.

How many have swollen balances and barely taken out any profits even though their balances grew 10, 100, 1000 fold?

Is it? Or do you just assume this? I think plenty took out profit since the April crash and since December I'm sure a lot of them have been doing the same. It's always during these crashes that people who are sitting on huge profits suddenly wake up and start to make a plan to take out some of their profits or diversify or whatever so they can sleep well again. You can be sure this has been going on since the December crash, and it is still ongoing but I also think this phase is almost over now.
I assume it is, unfortunately I don't have insight into the account balances of a sufficient sample, I am going off purely anecdotes. Sad But yes, I am indeed quite certain that there are HODLERS who, should Bitcoin ever fail, will find that they have diversified far too little to ever realistically regain the same kind of wealth in their lifetimes.

No question about Bitcoin having way more potential than a measly 10 billion dollar market cap in my view. Bitcoin can be 5 and even 6 digit, no problem.

Wall Observer
A free service brought to you by the bitcoin community

Whenever there is a significant change in market depth, please update this thread with a new depth chart, and a good price chart with some TA is also welcome, feel free to comment on these if you have something to worth contributing, ( if your post is not at all TA it will be deleted )

Posting guild lines:
Please lets keep this thread clean. ( I will be removing any off topic posts )
Do not post random comments on this thread, unless it is directly related to the last wall update (ex. The 20K ask was was NOT sold into, it was removed after being tested)
 When you post a chart please use bitcoincharts.com, mtgoxlive.com, btccharts.com or bitcoinity.com

as requested, i have started a new thread.
this thread is now a self-moderated topic.
I will try and keep this thread clean, with only facts, current trends, past price movements, depth charts, etc.
I promise to not delete post simply because i do not agree with the bearish TA.

thank you for your input!

We needed more regulation around this bitch.

the rules of this thread is an attempt to keep this thread from having +1000 post when price is doing big moves, and instead relay important indicators during critical moments.
also when the market is more calm we can expect to see wall posts and TA price charts, back to back without any relevant chatting, making easier to analyze.
there are other threads where speculators can discuss their sentiment, just not here...

That 1000+ page thread was getting kinda useless.

How about bitcoinium.com pics? I can never get mtgoxlive to load Undecided

thats fine too,
I'm looking for quality charts or good TA bearish or bullish.

asking good questions example....

Interesting pattern I've noticed. It's been sort of bouncing downwards for the last 4 days. Is there a technical term for this sort of thing?

Can anyone explain to me why GOX crashed/is crashing?

If I had any fiat sitting on that exchange I'd be buying as much coin as I could with it and moving it to another exchange ASAP. So why isn't the price skyrocketing?

my guess is very few, I cashed in some profits at all kinds of prices, and its no secret i'm very bullish, but i'm poor.... so that might have somthing to do with it.

Can anyone explain to me why GOX is crashing right now?

If I had any fiat sitting on that exchange I'd be buying as much coin as I could with it and moving it to another exchange ASAP. So why isn't the price skyrocketing?

You can't move coins to another exchange.  Everything is locked down atm.

But in case you haven't been paying attention (which it looks like you haven't), that's exactly what people were doing in the last month or so before gox officially announced everything was on hold.  Which is why we saw the spread between gox and the other exchanges grow so much in the last few weeks as people tried desperately to move all their fiat into BTC (and their BTC out of gox).

[snip]

+1   Best analysis I've seen all day

Can anyone explain what this chart shows / predicts to us plebs?

It shows pretty much nothing. Or at least not what TERA thinks it shows. It's a weekly MACD crossover. Problem is, at that time frame the MACD is so lagging that, if you look at the actual chart, if you would have sold at the crossover of the 1w MACD back then (probably at around 100 to 110), you better had been on your toes because price never went long below 70 again, and the MACD was still in deep red territory as the price went back to 150!

tl;dr Don't rely on a single indicator, especially not if it moves at the speed of molasses
I don't use the really long indicators as buy or sell signals either. Rather, they are more like dont-buy and dont-sell indicators. I will have already used a shorter indicator to buy or sell already by the time it has happened. However, what the long indicator does tell me, is, that there is no rush to buy back in right here, right around the time that is crossed and the area that it crossed - this is a resistance level now. I should look for a lower price using a shorter indicator.

agreed, if phrased like that. we're in a consolidation phase strongly leaning towards bear market, and only a select few uberbulls don't see it like that. but then again, as long as they hold and don't sell in the end, they're golden, the primary upwards trend will continue eventually

And bearish forum continues to grow more bearish. Right on cue.

I'm not a perma bull although many call me that. I invested in bitcoin with the idea we see 5 figures at least so except in obvious cases I don't trade. Normally when I do it's very aggressively and on margin. I haven't invested all my earnings into bitcoin. For instance I just sold an Internet property I own for $500k. And none of that is going into bitcoin.  But my personal wealth goal is at a minimum 8 figures so I need bitcoin to reach 5 figures. Meanwhile I will trade when I know I can increase my bitcoin holdings.

If bitcoin fails I can also make good money with my other businesses.

So while Blitz might chastise those of us that don't profit take, he fails to realize that there are many different strategies of investing.

Personally I didn't get into bitcoin to make a 10 fold profit. If I make a 100 fold profit I might take my profits.

I think every bull here has cashed out profits, re-bought on lows, gambled a few away, and every time some new site came along announcing they accept bitcoins we've spent some there in support as well.

This is yet another bump in the development road map of bitcoin. MtGox hasn't been significant for some time now. I think many here saw this coming. It will be used to push the price way down and the smart ones will buy all the way down.

Ahhhhhhh, got it. I read another article earlier and understood it as a full stoppage of all fiat withdrawal requests. So people are betting it's going to be easier to get cash out of GOX than coin? LOL, what a shitstorm.  Cheesy

Gox is responding now. We have good reason to believe this is a fixable technical glitch. If that is true and this is resolved, Gox is going to go back up and quickly as people convert back to Btc.

Bears are predicting more downside and they might be right intermediate term, but short term only their greed would make them short the market in the next handful of days.

My thoughts are we have seen the end of coins from Mt Gox.  There will never be another coin that leaves because there aren't any left.

Taxes help too:
Sell too soon: -> "trading" -> income -> 52% tax over profit. (and 1.2% property tax)
Hodl: -> "investment" -> interest -> 1.2% property tax over the Jan 1st Euro value of the bitcoins.
(a good nick helps too.)

My thoughts are we have seen the end of coins from Mt Gox.  There will never be another coin that leaves because there aren't any left.

I think the real question is, how much does that matter?

Lets say the price settles around $700 until gox next announcement (they said Monday they'll have an update, right?), at which time they basically come out and confirm they're done.  What would that do to the price?  As far as I'm concerned, the current rundown is already working under the assumption that any funds locked up in Gox are doomed.  So any official announcement by Gox may result in a very short term reaction downwards, but logically it should bounce back up close to current levels pretty quickly.

Simply put, I think it's a reasonable assumption to think that the current prices already have the worst case Gox scenario priced in (or at least, pretty close to it).  There would still be short term reaction to an official gox announcement, but any fall should see a pretty quick bounce back to current levels (by current, I mean wherever we end up Sunday/Monday before any official statement).

Whereas good news (aka people being able to move BTC out of Gox) would see a huge price spike, with the other exchanges following along at a less extreme, but still upwards, rate.

That said, I'm still hoping for some more downward pressure in the coming days leading up to an announcement by Gox.
