So basically they are stopping collecting data to show this bill doesn't need to be renewed.

Quote
The USA Freedom Act of 2015, legislation designed to curtail the federal government's sweeping surveillance of millions of Americans' phone records, is set to expire at the end of year, if the Trump administration doesn't ask Congress to renew its authority to continue the program.

Is this true?

Next bull run ends between 100k - 300k.... Tongue

Yes. totally agree, and the new bottom will be 30 000 ish.
My plan is to keep accumulating till the next top and then sell all in increments starting at 100 000 and ending at 300 000 or when I think the top is in, Put that money in a high interest savings account and then buy back after 13-15 months, when the new bottom has formed.
Then rinse and repeat.

ooh congrats to bones and LFC for becoming default trust members
we call you Sir now?
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5117330.0

No need to call me sir. But thanks for the congratulations. I just had one of my fans open up a thread about me in reputation. My fan even gave me a rave review and thinks I'm like delectable horse apples.

Congrats!

News Flash!

BTC dumped -5% now, what's the reason behind?

Pretty obvious.  Jimbo arrived in Canada dumped a pile of bitcoin and caught the next flight out.

Hah, beat me to it.

"I don't post a whole lot and I think TA has minimal value, but I see something playing out that to me is incredibly obvious. I'm just one person but I have been wildly successful at trading crypto for 6 years now. Take this for what you will...

I see LTC leading the charge because its halving is only 5 months out. It's obvious. The hype is there and it'll probably continue to outperform BTC until at least the halving. It's pulling BTC along and BTC is only begrudgingly going along with it. That's because BTC is so much bigger and hard to push. But the fundamental driver behind it is clear as day. Halvings are a fundamental economic shifts. I can't stress that enough. ETH just got one too, but it hasn't quite followed the typical pre-halving hype cycle because its reward reduction never had a clear date until basically the last minute and the reward reduction wasn't as big as a normal halving. ETH however will feel the impact over the next 6 months though as the effects start to be felt in the market. Expect ETH to also outperform BTC over the next 6 months.

But once the effects of LTC's halving and ETH's reward reduction start fading later this year, the attention will shift to the 800lb gorilla in the room - BTC. BTC will undoubtedly enter into its halving hype cycle and it will pull alts further up along with it. BTC's halving will be the core event of the next bull-run. Long term bears who are going short in front of halving events are out of their goddamn minds and not seeing the big picture."

Go to the corner and touch yourself intimately.

People were saying the same in the depths of 2015.

They may have been typing it with tears rolling down their faces, of derision or despair, but they did it.

Hmmm, I was AWOL from bitcointalk for most part of 2014 and 2015 but reading historic WO posts of that period I see a lot more capitulation and despair than this time.

I am scared the price is being hodl by wishful thinking. Would be much more confortable thinking the price is currently depressed by desperation instead. Maybe it's just me.

This thread cannot be indicative of anything one way or another.
In the mainstream investment world (cnbc, forbes, bloomberg) btc is dead and is being mostly ridiculed for 14 mo already.
Objectively, the situation for most OECD area btc miners is still bad.
No profits, less losses than a couple of months ago.
BETI is close to almost all time low (-2.09 last time I checked vs -2.22 all time low).
BTC is scraping barely above the 200 WMA.
Are you NOT entertained?

The thing is we have all been here before (2014/15) back then I did indeed feel capitulation. But now, and particularly with a more thorough understanding of the global economy, there is just no way in hell bitcoin won't get to those prices.

We all understand the bitcoin cycle now, and coupled with this we are all aware of the corruption of governments and central banks and how they are the ones pushing the price of bitcoin indirectly via their criminality.

If you want to see capitulation, you need to look at the newbies. They have never experienced a bitcoin cycle before, and I bet they have already capitulated in spades.

I am one of those but i certainly never capitulated lol.

Think long term, Bitcoin hasn't disrupted anything yet... $20k is just the first step in price discovery.

Combine 17m coins with the enormous amounth of Bitcoins potential.

Bitcoin will either go to $0 ore $100k and beyond. It will not stop at $30k in fact there is no price limit Shocked

So I have been thinking, I have some play money on a phone I don't use, some 400 USD worth of bitcoin.
I'm thinking about converting them to litecoins and hope for a halving spike.
I gotta do something, this sideways is just too boring, I need at least some of the kicks you get when the price goes up.

Oh wow, I get uncomfortable accepting congrats to be honest. I get a bit embarrassed. Thanks to everybody who put me in their custom trust list. I guess this means you’re now DT2? I have you in my trust list mate.

Congratulations LFC!

Though I'm not sure either what it's about, but I think that it's something very good as the list only contains of some very senior and reputable bitcointalk users.

That's what it's about :

I will concede that there are several ways to measure waves or even the beginning or end of a bear/bull market.

Apart from the ongoing fact that you are trolling with your way too premature assessment that we are allegedly in a bull market, another point is that generally we would not measure the beginning of a bull market from the point of the lowest price of the cycle, unless clearly there is only one touch down point.  Currently, you could be correct that in this cycle, the $3,122 on December 14 will be the last of the sub $3,300 low points.

If you recall in mid-January 2015, we had a sub $200 BTC price that peaked all the way down to about $152; however, there were no further breaches of $200 throughout 2015 - even though in mid-August 2015, there was a very close attempt to breach $200 and even though for a very extended period of time, there were several unsuccessful attempts to get BTC prices to go below $220.

Perhaps we could call the jumping off point as $152; however the more accurate assessments would be to call the jumping off point as either $220 or mid-$200s, and personally, I consider $250 to be a fair jumping off price in order to give a general assessment of the starting point of the 2016/17 bull run, that really started in about October 2015, but we did not have much confidence of such bull run until about the end of May 2016 when the BTC price finally went above $500 and largely stayed above $500 thereafter.

By late 2016 and early 2017, there were some bears (and perhaps no coiners, too) who were wishing for sub $500 coins, and subsequently, those were revealed to be pie in the sky fantasy wishes.  We still do not know, for sure, if some of the wishes for sub $2k  are pie in the sky wishes, even though with more passage of time, there seems to be a ramping up of buy support even while we are not out of the (bear/nocoiner) woods yet.
