Like 'cutlery', 'serviette' is not a word for the English gentleman, but for his servants until they know better. He would say 'knives and forks' or 'silver' and 'napkin'.

That's because gentlemen use tableware made of silver not stainless steel, and proper linen napkins not paper serviettes.  Cheesy

In Mexico, "servilleta" is used for both linen napkins and for paper serviettes. No class distinctions there.

Here in Canada "napkin" is used for both the table linen and for a feminine hygiene product. Sometimes the former is used as the latter in an emergency.  Grin

Actually a lot of those words are actually just what the rest of the world calls things rather than using Americanisms.

Serviettes are serviettes in England, Kenya, Mexico, Canada, and most English-speaking countries around the world. Only Americans call them "paper napkins".

Bacon from the back (loin) of the hog is called "back bacon" in most places. Only in the USA is it called Canadian bacon. Some Canadians call it "peameal bacon". The Brits often call side bacon "streaky bacon".

Only in the USA is synthetic cheese-like garbage called "American cheese". The rest of the world calls it "process cheese".

In most of the world "football" is played with the feet, not the hands. Exceptions are Canada and Australia.

Funny language, English.
_____

As for the word "goof" meaning a lowlife, it's apparently used in the USA as such (although perhaps mostly in prison) but with a slightly narrower definition.

Here in Canada it is used for pedophiles, informers, rapists and other unreliable or undesirable scum. In the USA it seems to be used mostly to describe pedophiles who prey specifically on young boys.

Aren't words fun?  Cheesy

I still believe that calling you a cunt could be a good thing, even though, from my personal perspective, there seems to be a quite a bit of "me too" over-sensitivity about that word in some places... Also, from my perspective, a bit of oversensitivity about the use of retarded.

So, even apart from cultural differences, context and intent matters too.

A nice Indian chap was once showing me round his town. True story.
He kept saying how good the 'semen factory' was for the local economy.
'Oh yes, almost all the men of the town work at the semen factory.'
'Oh yes, we supply most of the state with our high-quality semen'.
and so on.
Eventually we passed a huge dusty plant with lorries going in and out, giant buildings and noise.
and a massive sign saying 'Ashok Cement Co. Pte Ltd.'
Ah, I said, Cement!. Yes, he said looking at me like I was slow beyond words. This is our famous semen factory.

maybe youre thinking of what is actually labeled "cheese food" or something like that for the fake stuff here in the usa.

I was thinking specifically of Kraft Singles, Velveeta, etc.
_____

I keep trying to explain to people here that the Cheez Whiz sold in Canada is different from what is sold in the USA.

A few years back they stopped putting real cheese in Cheez Whiz in both places but The Canadian government wouldn't let them use the name despite spelling it "Cheez". They felt it was misleading to consumers. Kraft relented and started putting real cheese back in for the Canadian market.

 Cool

I suppose that is part of my point.

I am not Aussie.., and admittedly, I don't use the word cunt too often, yet I still believe that there are a variety of contexts in which cunt could use the expression as a kind of endearment - in the aussie fashion, even if neither I nor my audience is aussie.

Of course, if the tone or context is not right, women would be more sensitive than men to a descriptive usage directed towards them as endearment, unless in the context it is obviously a true descriptive statement that fits behavior, could even be humorous to really make the point.

It's not just the Aussies but the Brits too. Even some Canucks who wish to project a Brit/Aussie affectation.

The important thing is to never use it with a woman, only men can be called cunts.

It’s an interesting chart.  But the wallet is now empty and the last move was 1 March.  So it seems any influence that wallet could have is now gone

Given the size I wonder if it is an exchange cold wallet and those coins have now all gone to strong hands.

I am kind of with you Hairy, but March 1 is not that long ago, and all 60k coins put on one exchange, perhaps?  Would have to be a real liquid exchange to absorb that many coins with hardly a blip downwards in the BTC price.

We cannot completely rule out that those coins have not been traded yet, or only a fraction of them have been traded, so far.

It would be great if those coins had already got absorbed by the market, but what are the chances?  50% at best?

I followed the coins one hop.  They go to here:  https://bitinfocharts.com/bitcoin/address/bc1qyy30guv6m5ez7ntj0ayr08u23w3k5s8vg3elmxdzlh8a3xskupyqn2lp5w This wallet has had 330,000 BTC pass through it but its balance is always kept low.  The big 1000 BTC transactions get shattered into thousands of smaller transactions  in that wallet, with outgoing transactions every few blocks.  This definitely looks like hot wallet  behaviour.

I am 90% confident that we are looking at the cold wallet of an exchange with a linked hot wallet one hop away.  So yes, the coins have been absorbed by the market.

Going a bit overboard there. They cover a lot of ground in their 2 hour shows. Not just the trezor stuff, but a ~dozen other subjects.

They are pretty trustworthy people.

At the same time your hyperbole has a grain of truth.
Writing a blog of course makes one a much more honest and concise commentator than all these videos and podcasts.

Texas bill proposes to make it illegal for residents / companies to accept a cryptocurrency transaction unless you have positively identified the sender.  Also makes it illegal for Texas to accept any payment in a cryptocurrency which does not natively support identity verification.

Quote
Sec. 662.0002.  VERIFICATION OF IDENTITY REQUIRED.

(a)     Before accepting payment by a digital currency, a person must verify the identity of the person sending payment. A person is not required to verify the identify of a person sending payment if the
payment is sent by a verified identity digital currency.

(b)  This state may not use a digital currency that is not a verified identity digital currency.

Bob not going to be happy.

Note: this is a proposed law.  It has not been passed.  But I would be getting on the phone to my representative about this.
