According to mycelium, Bitcoin just dropped from EUR 4900+ to 4600, then back up to 4900+ and back down to 4600 again. It uses Bitstamp as data source.
I can't really check it on mobile so I'm posting it here: did this really happen or was it a glitch?
this kinda happened. new york ag is suing finex for stealing money, after confiscating their money edit not quite
for comingling customers' funds and possibly serving new yorkers without a license

Exactly, because fiat is a pain in the ass, every fiat trade is a taxable event. This is close enough within risk.

Not if you're American or British and maybe quite a few others. It's just as taxable as an actual dollar trade.

yeah it sucks here in the USA. anything to anything is a taxable event.

Don't expect the mainstream media will highlight the fiat scams.

The smileys that we use are bitcointalk forum's own GIFs. The smileys used by Pamoldar are not GIFs (or images); they're made up of text.

For example:

😆 😎 😵 😗 😈 🐻 💓 🌼 🎁 🎂 📱💻

This is pure text - no image.

Correct.

You can format them like you do with the text.
😆 😎 😵 😗 😈 🐻 💓 🌼 🎁 🎂 📱💻
😆 😎 😵 😗 😈 🐻 💓 🌼 🎁 🎂 📱💻
😆 😎 😵 😗 😈 🐻 💓 🌼 🎁 🎂 📱💻
😆 😎 😵 😗 😈 🐻 💓 🌼 🎁 🎂 📱💻
😆 😎 😵 😗 😈 🐻 💓 🌼 🎁 🎂 📱💻
😆 😎 😵 😗 😈 🐻 💓 🌼 🎁 🎂 📱💻
Damn. I was aware of Japanese face letters, but actual text emojis are new to me.

Are there any properly backed and transparent stablecoins that can be used without worrying?

Bitshares BitAssets is the only one with any track record. It's properly trustless and blockchain native. Designed for purpose.

Can anyone confirm/deny/extrapolate? BitShares seem to be rather low volume so would hope for other pairs as well.

Judge for yourself.

I think it's held the peg spectacularly for a pure blockchain, trustless solution with no real world counterparty backing. There was a hiccup in January but it's recovered and otherwise smooth as silk.

(Also checkout BitCNY).

OMG. Is the the last nail in the bitfinex coffin? I hope so. The last we see of that exchange, the better. They can take their junk tethers and shove them where the sun doesn't shine.

Thing is though that the lawsuit thing appears to make Tether appear to be a once sound operation. It looks like the money was all present. Bitfinex fucked themselves by trusting a bunch of criminals with their funds and then tapped Tether reserves to fill the hole.

In a way it exonerates all the doubt that surrounded USDT reserves. Then it made some nice new ones. And realer ones too.
