easiest overclocks (well aside from the bios stuff from the pentium II on up) was the jumpers on the 486. just pick 25,33 or 40, then select the multiplier via jumper and see if it booted. cant remember if my 386 could do that. before that there was the clock crystal replacement on the IBM AT. never tried it on mine though.

dont remember what the cpus were that you just added more L2 cache via stuffing chips in empty sockets on the mobo. 386 im guessing.

still have some of those cpus/motherboards and all the stuff needed to boot them. part of my Piles of Old Crap Collection.

Those AMD 5x86 chips could be OC'd massively on 486 boards (socket 3 IIRC) like you said set jumpers and watch a 120mhx become 160 with no issues on a stock cooler! AFA crystals, yup easy as well, pop out a 33mhz and throw in a 40 crystal on most 386 chips and you were out to the races again on stock sinks and then upgrading to a Cyrix 486 with a L2 cache bump was a great upgrade on the same 386 Mobo! I remeber using evergreen socket adapters to run 386sx chips on 286 mobo's and I think the last 8088 4.77mh upgrade was a 8mh (Damn I can't remember the name anymore).

IIRC my first OC was on the P6 Celeron from 266Mhz to 333Mhz using an FSB overclock from 66Mhz.
So that was a really decent OC and got an instant 33% gain.

I did it with some USB miner, worked a treat for stacking more sats.

Bitcoin network hash rate climbs to 6 month high

The Bitcoin hash rate climbed to its highest level since October 2018 as the BTC spot price looks to break $5,800. Data shows the Bitcoin hash rate – the computing power responsible for securing the network, at above 58 quintillion hashes per second (58 million tera hashes per second – TH/s). This is the 4th highest ever hash rate recorded on the Bitcoin network. The increase in hash rate points to more mining nodes being active on the network. With more mining nodes, comes greater security for the Bitcoin network making it more difficult for attack vectors to succeed in compromising the fidelity of the blockchain.

Thus, it is unsurprising to see more mining nodes coming online as BTC may be gearing up for another parabolic growth cycle.

I’m ok with dropping to $4,000 again, whatever. It just helps us gobble up cheaper coins before this thing goes parabolic. I’m trying to get to a certain round number of bitcoin’s but I need another 6.9BTC to make it. I’m not sure I’ll be able to before it becomes too expensive.

Hueristic, thank you for working through this with me.  It is pretty obvious right now that I have been suppressing how much the end of that scene hurt.  I used to hang out on IRC with those guys on the regular...

I have said before, and I still believe, one of the things that really gives me hope is that quite a few of the early Bitcoin folks are OG folders, fundamentally altruistic individuals.

This world could do with an elite class with something other than their own quarterly gains in view.

At least fair for me I know when really happen the ATH. Confuse the non-believers and surely it'll creep them up to the core.

Moreover, I will see another ATH again.

Every other comment here is bears complaining about bulls and bulls complaining about bears. Sentiment is actually incredibly mixed right now; price is up 80-90% on a multi month rally and futures are at a $40 discount. There's definitely some disbelief going on.At the top of the May 2018 rally, there was a $400 premium on futures! And we are at a discount right now. Ignoring factual, objective signals is the best way to fight the trend. I came up with justifications for why there was a discount at low $5k before we rallied hard and got burned for it. I've even seen some people saying bitmex whales are manipulating swaps to make funding bad for shorts. Kinda funny to see people saying that...

The truth is, for some reason, the market sentiment is that futures traders and bitmex traders in general are fairly convinced we won't go up here. At a macro level, bitmex traders have been wrong about every single move since I've traded on there.

This will correct hard at some point. But I'm trying to take a step back and ask myself, when did BTC convince me that 100% rallies are impossible? At what point did this market break me and make me think that going back above $6k was virtually impossible? Regardless of what eventually happens, the next 10-20% move should be fairly exciting. There will be a huge pullback at some point. But that doesn't mean it'll be where I want it to be"

Yes, it is better to buy at $ 4,000 than at $ 8,000, although if the price goes up, my strategy is to divide the total investment planned for the year and buy the same fixed amount monthly.

Typical behavior for someone who probably bought at $20k sold at $12k and is now hoping BTC will stay at $3-4k for a longer period of time. His bags are probably empty or almost empty and he's been saving on food and clothes to buy some tiny fractions of BTC. In a desperate attempt to prevent BTC from rising he is beartrolling spreading fud here on BTCtalk trying to confuse noobs and persuade them not to buy immediately. Let go dude, BTC is heading north and it's a one way journey... BTC gave you a wonderful chance to buy it for cheap at $3k but not for long we have to move on now. You're late, you're too late...
