It was always going to be very impractical opsec-wise to have one huge party.
We're going to have to decentralise this thing.

I think you're right...

All of us getting together in one place and time that is publicly known (or that could leak) will create a huge BTC honey pot. We could then be abducted, tortured and have our BTC wrenched out of us! OUCH!

Most of us already are, or will soon be millionaires, some even billionaires... This is no joke! Gotta organize this thing very carefully...

I agree with your overall sentiment, and the point(s) that you are making, AlcoHolDL; however, I am going to quibble a bit with your assessment that "most of us already are, or will soon be millionaires."  To be or soon be a millionaire, most of us would need to have in the territory of 100 coins or assuming that a BTC price of $20k is imminent, then "most of us" would need to have 50 coins or more.  I have my doubts about that assessment, at least in terms of the "most" categorization.
Maybe 1 btc will enter the milloinaire club within a few years. If that happens, maybe 2017 bitcoin dumping millionaires will end up hanging in the closet, because usd won't be worth shit.

Hey I have no problem speculating that many WO are going to become millionaires some day or even in the near future, even with a small stash of BTC;  however, AlcoHoDL seemed to be asserting that most here were already millionnaires or were in an immediately impending millionnaire status that seemed to imply that we have in the supra 100 BTC arena of coins... which I believe is an exaggerated assessment of the number of coins held by the average active WO participant.

Metapost: I'm doing... things... and stuff... with some Bitcoin related matters, and these fees I'm seeing are pretty nutty.

Paying more than a 200sat/byte gives me gas to get into the next block. Fuck that. A glimpse of things to come ?

I'm guessing this is why Lightning and L2 stuff is becoming more important  Huh

<<whistles inconspicuously>>
Could you ever post anything that's not about Bcash or trying to advocate for it?

Who, Me? I didn't say anything about Bcash. BTC's issues with tx fees are strictly a problem of BTC's own construction.

Don't know whether or not he's gay, and don't care. It's not like we'll ever be seated around the same dinner table. Whazzat got to do with Bitcoin price anyhoo?

Don't be a fuck face you know damn well what you're doing. Look at your post history in here, you tell me the what percentage of your post in the BITCOIN (NOT SHITCOIN) Wall observation thread is about shitcoins?

Very little.

You sound tense.
Really now, you do realize BSV and Bcash are both indeed shitcoins, you're saying that's not a majority of your post are about?

Nope and nope. Setting aside your first false statement, above, let us look at your second. Indeed, the proof to exonerate me of your accusation is quoted by you above. Absolutely nothing about BCH nor SV.

Get this through your thick skull: block congestion is a property of the BTC Bitcoin fork.

Get it through yours, BSV and Bcash are fucking shitcoins. They are NOT BITCOIN, it's a fucking name they're trying to steal.

Bitcoin gold, Bitcoin diamond, super Bitcoin, Bitcoin atom, bitcoin God, Bitcoin interest, Bitcoin cash and bsv are all SHITCOINS.  There will only be 21 million bitcoins and your "but Satoshi" reasoning is shit. Bitcoin isn't about one person, if Satoshi wanted changes he would be adding them himself and the community would accept them or not.

You are here to spread your views and that's it, you're nothing more than a fucking Jehovah witness in this thread handing out pamplets of bsv, you talk about nothing more than your stupid shitcoins, id like to speak for everyone but that's not my place, but at least I don't give a fuck about Bcash or it's shitty brother BSV. Fucking get over it, quit constantly trying to defend it here, this isn't the fucking fork debate observation.

You sound tense.

Perhaps. But he left. And rather than no changes, we had The SegWit Omnibus Changeset rammed down our throats. The biggest change ever to happen to the Bitcoin Protocol. Well, since being invented to begin with.

What are your preferences for the 100K party, r0ach?

We can have the $0k party in my basement.

Get the fuck out of here roach.

Grandma is not dead yet, so it's grandma's basement, not "my" basement.     Roll Eyes Roll Eyes Roll Eyes  And, you really think grandma is going to handmedown her basement, especially with your bad financial judgement that leaves you largely in negative equity hoarding those worthless pms and screwing away the family's wealth with your ongoing bad investment choices?

Hiring an appropriately sized venue entirely (hotel / country house... fuck it - a castle, even) might make security a little less of an issue

Unfortunately, Risto's place burned down.

Of course, he turned a little cray-cray before said event, so there's that...

Bitcoin is useless at 1 MB blocks, it's useless at on-chain scaling for any higher block size, and Lightning Network is also useless because it's just a permissioned ledger recreation of the already existing banking system.  WHY do you even bother talking about Bitcoin instead of physical metals?  Bitcoin would still be trash compared to metals even if it did scale, but it doesn't.  Transaction validators are designed to centralize, so it has no fundamentals, then even fails to scale while being centralized.  Digital shitcoin shills have got to be some of the biggest scammers the world has ever seen at this point.

Segwit was a great thing to get passed, locked in and then implemented.  Bitcoin has been bullish as fuck since it beat the fuck out of those naysayers who were then (in mid 2017) calling for its demise due to NO plans for BIG BLOCKs... and they seemed to have gotten their asses handed to them, the bitcoin naysayer nutjobs, no?  Even though they are not dead yet, and the various shitcoiners and bitcoin attack vectors seem likely to pump again on the coattails of BIG DADDY, bitcoin.

Now you are starting to make sense $10k/head is definitely doable and mic did the math pretty perfectly $300-400k can buy pretty much anything you'd ask in a party. (not beyonce sorry)

During such very sensitive period of the crypto market, of bitcoin, ups or downs are totally depends on sneeze of whales. Whenever whales  look into the sky and sneeze, bitcoin and market will move up; whenever whales look on the ground, and sneeze, bitcoin and market will move down.

You are correct. And I don't understand why, almost 2 years later, anti-BTC fanatics continue to cry about how damaging SegWit is to bitcoin. There's absolutely nothing wrong it. Its failed nobody never on anything. Its one drawback is you can't readily send coins to bech32 addresses from some older wallet clients. However, the Bitcoin Core client itself has supported SegWit addresses for over 16 months now.

Segwit was the shitcoin created - and got Support only from ano anarcho speculants yet.

If we can't put a decent party together for a couple of thousand bucks a head (assuming 75+ people), we would be doing it wrong.

If you want Don Perignon on tap it's an optional extra, but a decent party with accomodation and decent food sorted in the price, some entertainment etc is easily done.  Extras can be 'according to taste and desires' surely...

I used to work in the music business, I have a fair idea what a party for an upscale entourage costs. With or without extras.

Frankly, I think $1,000/person is pretty extravagant.

Live band, buffet and hor'douvres or however the fuck it's spelled, open bar, and security.

And by invitation only IMO - posting any details publicly results in de-invitation.

I totally agree on the 'no need to be extravagant' - I was advocating for way less than the figures being bandied about.

If it's just for the event and everyone sources their own accommodation, of course it's OTT.  Even if 5 star accommodation for a weekend is involved, plus a lot of events and a very special venue for the big night, then $1000 is still plenty.

If anything is going to happen and with such a varied bunch of people, I would imagine people will want to just book their own trip but attend the main event and perhaps some spin off trips in bunches according to their whims (and who they want to hang out with).  The spend is then optional and it means secrecy and security is reduced to the actual event(s).

If a bunch want to go drive supercars around a race track for an afternoon, or head en masse for a Michelin-starred restaurant it's an optional add on.  It would be best if stuff was organised in advance, though.

If this little soiree is going to cost 400 fucking grand ...

Each?

A few seem to have settled on 10 grand a piece and 40 people. No idea why and it Weren't me. No, sir.

There was no settling and really the idea of charging a entrance fee is ludicrous. This is just low brow flights of fancy.

I think what we should really do is look into a pay per view type extravaganza with obstacle courses and medical teams on standby. I am sure the whole cost could be defrayed and the rest sent to a good charity.

Or more germane, we'll all talk some about investing in Bitcoin. Which will make the trip tax-deductible.

Lotta savvy biz knowledge to be shared amongst the tycoons of industry known as the WO regulars.
